A Hidden Gem of Bristol: Clifton Observatory hosts a Valentine’s Day event to celebrate the most romantic city in the UK

Bristol has been named the 'most romantic' city in the UK, according to a new study An Amazon spokesperson said the city is “known for romantic hotspots like Clifton Observatory, as well as the friendly phrase Alright my luvver.”

00:09 The building itself has a lot of history, being a windmill back in the day and an observatory.

00:16 Now we have it open as an attraction, so we've got a museum in the tower, a camera obscura

00:21 where people can see.

00:23 It's like a Victorian CCTV that people can look across the area.

00:27 We also then have a cave that goes right down under the suspension bridge and you can look

00:33 up and see views of the gorge.

00:35 So we have that as well for people to enjoy.

00:55 We are just launching our events for the year.

00:58 So for Valentine's, we are doing a pop-up restaurant with Fenland Wine.

01:03 They're an independent catering company and they've created a bespoke menu for us.

01:09 So they're coming in to do a pop-up event with the band.

01:13 We've got a band on site as well.

01:17 They'll be performing.

01:19 They're called Ronde Blues, so some romantic performance whilst people are dining.

01:27 The Clifton Observatory is an iconic Bristol tourist attraction.

01:32 Let's chat to their team about how they will be celebrating love this Valentine's Day.

01:36 We do quite a few pop-up events at our venue.

01:43 I mean, loads of different seasonal ones.

01:45 We're always looking to have an excuse to get new people through the door and experience

01:53 both inside.

01:54 Oh, I mean, you know, there's three separate sections to the venue.

01:57 People don't always visit all three of them or aren't able to go on the rooftop terrace

02:03 or go inside the venue space that we've got inside.

02:07 So we're always sort of putting on seasonal special events for people to come and enjoy

02:13 and bring their loved ones.

02:16 I think it's kind of a hidden gem of Bristol.

02:18 Not everyone knows.

02:19 I mean, I lived in Bristol all my life and I didn't actually know about the observatory

02:23 until I started working here.

02:25 And I think it is a hidden gem.

02:27 And although we've got the tourist side and we are available for private hire, I think

02:33 we've really wanted to create something where there's something for everyone to come and

02:37 enjoy.

02:38 So we do do a lot of public events, but this year especially, we're putting out a full

02:43 calendar of a variety of wellness events.

02:47 We've got sound baths, yoga, and then we've got different things like the pop-up restaurants,

02:52 live music, jazz nights, murder mystery evenings, a lot of different things.

02:57 So we're trying to cater for all.

02:59 So there's something for everyone to come and actually get to enjoy the venue.
