00:01:32We're live downtown at the MCI Center for the next three hours live here on TNT, Tony Schiavone, Iron Mike today, the one, the only, living legend, Larry Zabisco.
00:01:45Child of the program, a little tribute to the one and only Sting, a man who has never frayed from the clutches of world of championship wrestling.
00:01:55But over the past couple of weeks, there has been a little crossroads for Sting.
00:01:59There was the shirt handed by Lex Luger.
00:02:03Luger crossed the line, became a member of NWO Wolfpack.
00:02:06We all saw that.
00:02:08And then Thursday on Thunder, we saw the white plead to Sting.
00:02:12Each faction of the NWO wants Sting to step away from WCW and become a part of the NWO.
00:02:19Sting tonight, I would think, has to finally make some sort of decision about where he stands in pro wrestling, Mike.
00:02:27Tony, the future of professional wrestling hangs in the balance.
00:02:31From everything that we've heard, it's D-Day.
00:02:33It's decision day for Sting.
00:02:35Is it going to be the Wolfpack?
00:02:37Is it going to be NWO Hollywood?
00:02:39Or is Sting going to remain with the organization that he has been synonymous with ever since breaking into this sport world championship wrestling?
00:02:47When you think about Sting, Larry, you know it's got to be a tough choice because of the fact that Lex Luger is now with the red and the black.
00:02:52Well, as life gets more complicated, the decisions get harder.
00:02:56What do you leave in?
00:02:58What do you leave out?
00:03:00Heaven help WCW if Sting leaves us out.

00:03:04I do understand there is a limousine arrival as we are speaking right now.
00:03:08So our cameras are out back, and it's a white limousine.
00:03:13And we have no idea exactly what this means.
00:03:15Usually with the New World Order, especially with the white and the black, that means Hollywood Hogan.
00:03:20Well, there was a WCW logo or emblem that I saw up in the dashboard, Tony.
00:03:24I don't know if that's a tip-off at all.

00:03:26We'll just wait and see.
00:03:27This is a big night for our sport.
00:03:30But James J. Dillon has arrived, and Diamond Dallas Page is with him.

00:05:20You saw Goldberg, yes, Bill Goldberg, the U.S. heavyweight champion, is here.
00:05:26He'll be in action a little bit later on tonight.
00:05:29But as we saw, Mike, and I want to get your reaction to James J. Dillon coming out with Goldberg, with Diamond Dallas Page, with Booker T,
00:05:38that it seems as WCW now is making some sort of unification, some sort of stand.
00:05:44I know this decision, this major decision by Sting is not going to go unanswered by WCW.
00:05:50Well, Tony, all we've heard is, is Sting going to join the NWO red and black, or is Sting going to join NWO Hollywood, the black and white attack?
00:06:03What was failed to be brought up was that third option, and that is world championship wrestling.
00:06:09And as we saw earlier, the limo arriving with James J. Dillon, Bill Goldberg, Diamond Dallas Page, and Booker T, WCW is united in their effort to keep Sting in the fold.
00:06:20As we talk about them, we enjoy the gorgeous Nitro girls, and their introduction here to the arena here at the MCI Center.
00:06:32There's Kimberly, and we're going to be going here to action in just a few moments.
00:06:36Fans, it's great to have you with us wherever you are watching WCW Monday Nitro, and there you look at this capacity crowd on hand.
00:06:43The home of the Wizards, the home of the Capitals, still in the NHL playoffs, and tonight the home of WCW Monday Nitro.
00:06:51It's also the home of the biggest decision made on the face of the planet.
00:06:56What will it be?
00:06:57Well, you can feel that atmosphere inside the MCI Center here in Washington, D.C., our nation's capital, and gentlemen, I think you'll attest to this also.
00:07:08You can feel it all afternoon in the locker room.
00:07:12Something big, something major is going to come down this evening at Nitro.
00:07:17Something major always is going on when Nitro takes the air.
00:07:20Three hours tonight here live on TNT, see the signs just literally everywhere you look here in the MCI Center, and Jerry Flynn has made his way in, and he's going to have to face a man who really has quite a record for himself here in this sport, and that's the cat, Ernest Miller.
00:07:36An interesting matchup here, almost mirror images when you look at both men relying on martial arts in addition to their professional wrestling background.
00:07:45Toss in the submission stylings of Jerry Flynn, a man who has made his name on Nitro over the course of the past few months by taking none other than the U.S. heavyweight champion Goldberg to the limit on a couple of occasions.
00:07:59All right, here we're going to see who's got the most discipline.
00:08:02Martial arts is fine, but mat submission technicians are final.
00:08:08Who's ahead in the mat technician department?
00:08:11Jerry Flynn, he took the first aggressive move here against the cat.
00:08:15Cats sends him in, though, to the ropes, and about a body drop sends Jerry Flynn down.
00:08:19We're in the Metropolitan, D.C. area, and a great fireman's carry slam that time, but also let's not forget that this is the first day of June, but on, look at this, rapid fire kicks sending Flynn back to the corner.
00:08:32Well, Flynn blocked him.
00:08:34There you go.
00:08:34There's a nice move.
00:08:35Get the man down on the mat.
00:08:37On the 14th of June, we'll be right up the road in Baltimore, downtown in the arena for the Great American Bash, where the world will be watching one of the biggest tag team matches ever, Piper and Savage.
00:08:50Rowdy, Rowdy Piper, the macho man, Randy Savage, against Hogan and Bret Hart.
00:08:54You're talking about an all-star lineup, a Hall of Fame lineup.
00:08:58We've got it for that main event at the Great American Bash.
00:09:01I don't think we've ever had a tag team matchup with four bigger names in the ring at one time than upcoming at the Great American Bash.
00:09:09You know, we talk so much about Sting's decision, a decision that we all feel he must make here tonight on this program.
00:09:15What about the decision made by Randy Savage and by Roddy Piper to be a tag team?
00:09:21That's another major decision, even though Bret Hart came out here last week and made everyone believe he had Piper in his back pocket.
00:09:29Look at the cat, pounding away on Jerry Flynn.
00:09:32But, yeah, I think Bret Hart just laying that paranoia into the mind of Savage.
00:09:36You know, macho man is emotionally unstable, put doubt in the mind of Savage, trying to get him to turn against Piper.
00:09:43And as we saw last week, it worked because Piper and Savage talked about, well, they talked about being on the same page for that tag team matchup.
00:09:50But then after that, they may want to fight each other.
00:09:55Flynn's got a nice arm bar here, but too close to the rope.
00:09:59Interesting enough that we have seen Jerry Flynn here, the cat, try to keep each man on the mat to employ the mat wrestling style.
00:10:08And now they're up, and there's back leg front kicks in the corner on the arm of the cat.
00:10:14And Jerry Flynn with the left hand at times in the eyes.
00:10:18Cat trying to get the bees out of his arm, trying to get that blood flowing back in there after the arm break applied by Flynn.
00:10:25Trying to roll him up, sunset flip, but they're into ropes.
00:10:28That's a good move by Flynn.
00:10:30He saw the momentum, so he just really took a couple of steps back, let the momentum carry both men to the ropes,
00:10:35and the cat could not make a cover.
00:10:40As Nick Patrick checks in to go.
00:10:43Hey, if Flynn's pulling ahead on points, that one was a good shot right in the gut.
00:10:47Flynn continues to pelt her way at both sides here, front and back of the cat.
00:10:53And right now, he's manhandling the cat foot into the throat and pushing back.
00:10:59As you notice, when you see the action from our cameras right there, you see fans with the black and the white.
00:11:06You see fans with the black and the red.
00:11:10A lot of black and red out.
00:11:11And I think, speaking very frankly, the fans, when Luger did what he did last Monday on the program,
00:11:18I mean, we shouldn't make any bones about it.
00:11:20They cheered Lex Luger on, putting on the red and the black last week.
00:11:24I think a lot of us were shocked by that crowd response, Tony.

00:11:30But I guess it just points overall to the popularity among the wrestling fans of the NWO Wolfpack.

00:11:49Certainly the white and the black and Hollywood Hogan certainly has had its share of enemies over the past year.

00:12:23Nice spinning roundhouse kick takes down Jerry Flynn on his way to the win.
00:12:27And I tell you, the Cat pulled that one out because he was in trouble earlier in the match.

00:12:37Everywhere I go, fans have their own opinion about what Sting will do.

00:23:25And I think all four men are impervious to pain in many ways as well.

00:23:34All what you said, Tony, brutal guys love to fight, but they're not dumb.

00:23:48Well, I suggest that we just turn these four guys loose.

00:23:54One would think any time Raven steps in the ring, singles or tag, it would be.
00:23:57It would seem to be a natural for these four, wouldn't it?
00:23:59That fits right into all of them.

00:24:02And as great as the action has been, and as great as it's going to be during the course of the night,
00:24:07it seems the decision by Sting just weighs over this arena and weighs over our sport like a very dark, heavy cloud.
00:24:16And we only are just kind of waiting to see what will happen.

00:24:21We have not seen Sting, of course.
00:24:23We never see Sting.
00:24:24He just arrives really unannounced on his own.
00:24:27So we'll just have to wait and see what the rest of you during the course of this three-hour program
00:24:31about what decision he will make, where will he go.
00:24:35Right now, Saturn is showing Johnny Grudge what he's made of in the corner here.

00:26:13A lot of times they will not be worried about comebacks from their opponents,
00:26:17and they'll do things on their own time.
00:26:19And that time, it backfired on them, although they're back into it once again here.
00:26:25I think what you're saying is that sometimes they're not worried too much about the defense,
00:26:31the counter moves, but they're not afraid to turn it loose on the offensive end.
00:26:34Well, certainly they and Raven, just that scornful look of his on the inside now.

00:26:40And what he said was they slow down their offense.
00:26:42They shouldn't do that.

00:36:53But fans of Baltimore have come to know over the many years that Sting has been a great performer for WCW.
00:37:00Sting and WCW are synonymous.
00:37:03It was in Baltimore in 1990, in June, actually in July, the Great American Bash, Sting won his first world title, Mike, today.

00:37:13You look back through the history and what Sting has really stood for in terms of tradition,
