00:01:37And tonight, during this program, we will talk a lot about what's gone down over the past week as we head to April 19th and Spring Stampede.

00:02:23The Nitro Girls are with us, and we said that a lot has gone down.
00:02:27We'll let you know tonight that every major star in our sport is in attendance.

00:02:35Rowdy Roddy Piper, we understand, is here.
00:02:38Each and every member of the New World Order with us.
00:02:41We understand that somewhere in this arena, Sting looks around the world heavyweight champion as well.
00:02:49And ladies and gentlemen, Nitro, once again, we welcome you.
00:02:53We are at the United Center, and we're so happy to bring you three hours of WCW action.
00:02:59Larry talked about in the midst of mistrust, in the midst of turmoil.
00:03:04Hollywood Hogan and Kevin Nash will be a tag team in a bad match against Rowdy Roddy Piper and the Giant coming up at Spring Stampede.
00:03:15And I can't wait. We saw at the beginning, Kevin Nash does not seem like a happy guy to me.
00:03:20He seems like he's got a lot of animosity towards Hollywood Hulk Hogan.
00:03:25What he says is the self-proclaimed leader of the New World Order.
00:03:30It's not a fact that these guys take for granted.
00:03:33I smell a lot of dissension, and I see the NWO falling apart at the scene.
00:03:38Now, near the end of Thunder, let's take you back now to Thunder.
00:03:41Near the end of Thunder, Hogan and Nash were literally nose to nose.
00:03:45Remember, this was the same night as we show you the footage that Eric Bischoff did not even want us to show the footage from what happened last week.
00:03:52But a brawl ensued. The Macho Man came out.
00:03:56And now, Mike Tenet, we're gonna see a little bit of disparity once again between members of the New World Order. Look here.
00:04:02Well, more problems within the ranks of the NWO. There we see the shoving match and the face-to-face showdown between Hollywood Hogan and Kevin Nash.
00:04:12And it all was about the Macho Man Randy Savage who came in to attack Sting.
00:04:17Hogan wanted to attack the Macho Man Randy Savage, and Kevin Nash said, hey, he's here to help us.
00:04:22He's a member of the NWO. The Macho Man says if he wins the world title at Spring Stampede, he will rule the New World Order.
00:04:28Well, he thinks that's his easy way to the top spot in the NWO, and a victory over Sting at Spring Stampede to regain the world's heavyweight title would certainly put him in the driver's seat.
00:04:38Now we're gonna take you to our trademark, the greatest wrestling on the planet as we go to the ring here on WCW Monday Nitro.
00:04:45Look at this crowd. This is the United Center, home of the defending NBA champion Chicago Bulls, home of the Blackhawks in the NHL, and home of the greatest wrestling fans in the world.
00:04:56It's also the home of all my relatives, so I've got to say hello to the Petskis, the Kazmierczaks, the Kwiatkowskis, the Zabiskos, the Ulashaks, and there's a couple others I can't even pronounce myself.

00:05:10Well, you're not kidding as Mike Ennis and Wayne Bloom begin things.

00:05:15Here on the WCW Monday Nitro, as we said, literally every major star in our sport in attendance tonight, and we are on the air for three solid hours here on the cable network that brought you professional wrestling's finest matches, finest programs, most outrageous moments.

00:05:37We're looking at two young men who certainly in the last, I would say, month since coming back from Japan like today, have really made a lot of strides stateside.
00:05:46High Voltage, the team of Rage and Chaos returned from their Tour of the Orient, well, with more of a physical presence, and they certainly have used that as a springboard to success in world championship wrestling.

00:06:28The Macho Man, as we said earlier, says he'll rule the NWO if he wins the world title.
00:06:32And let's not forget, it wasn't that long ago where Sting and the Macho Man were literally side-by-side in their battles against the NWO, seemingly.

00:06:42Now they will go head-to-head with that most prestigious title in our sport, up for grabs at Spring Stampede.
00:06:50Rage goes to full-on Dragon Twist and now straddles and pulls up on the arm of Mike Enos.
00:06:56Look at the power of Mike Enos to lift this big man up.
00:06:59Yeah, Enos is a big, strong guy, but sometimes, you know, your energy and your strength is wasted on useless moves like that.

00:25:12and putting some extra added pressure on the left leg.

00:48:15And one-on-one, a wrestler will beat any other man in the world.
00:48:22And I don't care how many black belts you have, how many boxing gloves you have, whatever.
00:48:28Submission wrestler, one-on-one, toughest man in the world.
00:48:32And I think Glacier found out, even with all his discipline, even with all the systems and the styles,
00:48:37he's learned and combined, without the mad techniques, the submission holes, and the aggressive attitudes,
00:48:44you don't come out a winner where the big boys play.
00:48:49Well, we had talked that Glacier had been able to adapt to the wrestling style quite well, Larry,
00:48:54and had become what we thought was a pretty darn good polished professional wrestler.
00:48:59Well, he found out the hard way to make it simple.

00:54:39And, you know, we've been thinking, we've been, during the commercial break,
00:54:41wondering about who the partner for Kevin Nash would be.
00:54:44Do you think maybe Kevin Nash is stonewalling the NWO?
00:54:47Do you think that, really, he has no one, but he wants to worry Hollywood Hogan?
00:54:51He possibly could come out a one-on-two guys.
00:54:55Well, you never know with Kevin Nash.
00:54:57He's big enough to come out by himself.
00:54:59But, definitely, I saw the look of worry on the face of Hollywood Hogan.

00:56:01You saw the never surrender on the trunks, on the tights of Huventud.
00:56:04Since losing the mask, we all thought, well, his career could be over.
00:56:08And certainly it took a lot away from Huventud.
00:56:10But here is tenacity.
00:56:12Here is determination personified by Huventud Guerrera.
00:56:16He really exemplifies the nickname of Young Warrior because he has not given up.
00:56:21He's gotten tougher.
00:56:22He's gotten more fierce since losing the mask.
00:56:25Than just the opposite of what we expected.
00:56:27He's almost using that as the driving force behind him.
00:56:30And it sure has given him much success here in World Championship Wrestling since losing the mask.
00:56:36El Dandy has him in the corner and now will shoot him in and follow him in.
00:56:39But Huventud so quick.

00:56:41He shoved him on the outs.
00:56:42Oh boy.
00:56:43Straddled the ropes.

00:56:45Wasn't quite quick enough.

00:58:36And it's really got Hollywood Hogan concerned.
00:58:38Well, Kevin Nash has his own dressing room area back there.
00:58:40And there's a big curtain around the doorway.
00:58:43So I don't know who's gone in, who's gone out.
00:58:45There's security back there.
00:58:46You can't really get back to see because it's around the corner.
00:58:48But something big is going on back there right now.
00:58:50Was there anyone from WCW trying to go back in that area?
00:58:53Well, there were people milling around, but there was a lot of coat and ties back there.
00:58:56But nobody I could really see of importance.
00:59:00But there's a lot going on back there right now.
00:59:02Well, later on tonight, Kevin Nash and a partner will face the team of Lex Luger in World Championship.
00:59:09Now, they did open the back door there.
00:59:11And someone did come in they brought in.

00:59:18Chavo Guerrero Jr. will make his way in.
00:59:20Plus, in this program, I tell you, you're not going to find a bigger one-on-one matchup.
00:59:24Quite possibly the biggest singles matchup we've ever had on Nitro.
00:59:29Rowdy Rowdy Piper, a man who is wild, crazy.
00:59:32Anything can happen when he's in the ring against Hollywood Hogan.
00:59:35A match, a dream match that fans, of course, if you saw our pay-per-views during 1997,
00:59:41you know they got it on in some of the greatest matches of all time for the world title.
00:59:45This will be a non-title match.
00:59:47Neither man has a title, but a lot at stake here tonight when they battle one-on-one.
00:59:51And, you know, as far as I'm concerned, I think Mike will agree with me that I think Piper's got Hogan's number.
00:59:55And I think Hogan's going to try to show everybody tonight that Piper doesn't have his number.
00:59:58He's going to go all out to show Piper what it's like to be in the ring with Hogan and vice versa.
01:00:03Because, you know, pay-per-view, millions and millions of people all over the world watch.
01:00:06Same thing tonight, and Piper doesn't want to lose to Hogan.
01:00:09You know, Piper has quite a winning streak against Hollywood Hogan thanks to the sleeper hold.
01:00:13And you know that Hogan wants to do everything to show the other NWO-ites
01:00:17that he can turn the tide and have success against Piper right here on Nitro this evening.

01:00:26Kaz Hayashi and Chavo Guerrero Jr. well-documented the problems, the family problems that Chavo Jr. has had.

01:00:37Certainly as scientific a wrestler and as fine a young man as you'll find in our sporting, Chavo Jr.
01:00:43And he's very aggressive, but the man plays by the rules, guys.

01:00:47Yeah, and speaking of playing by the rules, the one thing you can say about Chavo Guerrero Jr.
01:00:51is that he is a man of his word.
01:00:54There was a stipulation when he had that match with his uncle Eddie.
01:00:57Yes, he lost in a hard-fought battle, but he has certainly proved from that point on to at least stick to that stipulation.

01:02:19we reminisced about the time that Dennis Rodman, the Worm, member of the Chicago Bulls,
01:02:24and certainly a charter member, one of the primary members of the New World Order, was an impact.
01:02:29And as Mike Tanay announced earlier on, had he on good authority that Rodman would return to the NWO very, very shortly.
01:02:36When he comes back, once again they're gonna get even stronger, Mike.
01:02:40Well, you know there's gonna be major impact when Rodman resurfaces with the New World Order.
01:02:46How about that maneuver? And a great block that time, kind of, by Hayashi.
01:02:50He's up on top, and Chavo Jr. is standing.
01:02:54And Chavo could not fend off that missile drop kick from the top turnbuckle, guys.

01:03:16Obviously, that opened up the eyes of Ultimo Dragon.
01:03:19Dragon feels that there's something in Hayashi, just needs to mold him,
01:03:22get a little bit more experience, and he's taking him under his wing.
01:03:25Tornado DDT, and he connected, using the turnbuckles.
01:03:29Great move, and a cover, and a one, two, three.
01:03:31Well, he took him under his wing, all right, his left wing.
01:03:35And Chavo Jr. gets a big win.
