Siblings Reese and Revell Webster are in T&T to compete at the National Open Championships which are set for this weekend at the Hasely Crawford Stadium. 00:00Well, female sprinter Reese Webster says she's happy to be back on home soil as she gets ready to do battle in the 100 meters at the History Crawford Stadium at the Senior Open Championships.
00:10So far I would say I had a successful season. Of course it had hurdles in it, but at the end of the day I'm an athlete, I'm a competitor and that's what I do, compete.
00:22How do you feel to be back in TNT? I feel good. It just feels like I'm grounded all over again because, you know, I've spent most of the year in the United States competing on the collegiate level.
00:34So now that I'm back home, I just want to run around the people that I love, my home crowd, and just give it the best I got.
00:40She has graduated from Liberty University and is now doing her master's at Auburn University.
00:45She's hoping to use the championships to see her progress as she gets ready for bigger competition at the Southeastern Conference meet.
00:53Honestly, senior championships is just another meet for me.
00:57I just wish to have a really successful senior championships.
01:01I wish to complete the prelims and complete the finals.
01:04Yesterday, last year, sorry, I was not able to finish my prelim race.
01:10I just want to come home and finish my race this year. It's just another meet.
01:15Her brother, Ravel Webster, is also eager to compete.
01:18So my job to object is for senior championships is to just go out there and do my very best.
01:23The goal is to bring home gold and just represent my club well.
01:29How has training been going for you?
01:31Training has been going well. Coming off of the collegiate season, it was good to take a break and just come back home and get back into routine,
01:38into this climate to really practice and get myself going. So practice has been going good.
01:43How soon do you think the competition will be this year?
01:47This year, I believe the competition will be about the same caliber. It's always been very high.
01:52So I think it will still be very high coming into the senior champs.
01:56He dreams of breaking the sub-10 barrier, but he's taking it one step at a time.
02:00My personal best currently is 10-6.
02:03How far away are you from my personal best at this time?
02:07I'm not that far away. I'm about, you could say, 0.3 off.
02:11So I'm pretty close to my personal best. I hope to achieve a personal best in this game.
