00:30Hi, I'm Tim Slater and today we're going to take a look at the Vintage VS63V.
00:59The Vintage VS63V is a rock and roll beast.
01:03It features incredible professional quality hardware and performance at a very competitive price.
01:10I don't know how Vintage does it, but I'm really glad that they do.
01:13Let's take a closer look.
01:15First of all, we have Grover Deluxe Machine Heads.
01:21Grover need no introduction.
01:23They're a legendary brand that have been featured on all kinds of awesome guitars for decades.
01:28Their performance is proven, they're trusted, and it's really great to see them appointed on this instrument.
01:35I also like the tinted tulip keys as well, which are a really appropriate feature for this guitar.
01:42We have a low-friction GrafTech nut, which will come into its own in a little while when we talk about the Vibrola.
01:49But before we get there, we have a one-piece mahogany neck that features a super-slim vintage C profile.
01:58The edge of the fingerboard is bound with a nice cream edge binding.
02:03We have 22 medium jumbo frets, a 12-inch radius rosewood fingerboard topped off with these really lovely crown inlays.
02:11All of the fixtures and fittings throughout are really lovely, really cleanly done.
02:16It looks really nice.
02:18The mahogany body has beveled edges, so you can really tuck it into your ribcage.
02:22It feels really comfortable and light.
02:25The neck body join on this guitar is unique.
02:28It has an offset neck body join, and combined with the lower bout, which is slightly pulled back compared to the upper bout,
02:39that offers unhindered access to the upper parts of the fingerboard.
02:44We have three Wilkinson double coils, which are controlled by a three-way toggle switch,
02:50and a pair of master tone and master volume controls.
02:54Now, topping all of this is the Vibrola.
02:57Now, this is a really cool feature.
03:00It's not for dive-bombing, but for a nice, gentle wobble.
03:03It adds a lovely vintage shimmer to your chords and single-note lines.
03:24Okay, let's go through some sounds.
03:26Let's start with the neck humbucker with a clean tone.
03:29What I like about this sound, it has the plumminess and the depth,
03:48with a little bit of that kind of snap to it, which we associate with this classic double cutaway shape.
03:52And likewise, the middle position gives us a kind of a nice, chirpy brightness to it.
04:09You can hear all those nice, shimmering highs coming through.
04:13Bridge pickup.
04:13There's kind of a nasal quality to it, which I think sounds really nice, really distinctive.
04:29Okay, let's go back through the pickups again with some overdrive.
04:32Here is the neck pickup.
04:33Again, those nasally overtones really cut through.
04:45It's a really distinctive tone.
04:46I love it.
04:53Okay.
04:54Middle pickup with the overdrive.
04:55. . . .
05:07Okay, bridge pickup.
05:08. . .
05:08. .
05:08. .
05:12. .
05:16. .
05:18.
05:19. .
05:19. .
05:20. .
05:22. .
05:24Well, what can I say?
05:34I think out of all of the vintage guitars that I've played so far, this is fast becoming
05:39one of my favourites.
05:40I love the weight, I love the balance, I love the really nice combination of appointments,
05:46you know, the Grover tuners, the Graf-Tech nut, the Vibrola works really well, especially
05:52with the high quality tuners and the Graf-Tech nut, there's no issues with tuning stability.
05:56You know, the Vibrola kind of gives you a different dimension to this style of guitar that you
06:00might not have experienced before.
06:02It makes it really versatile, I think.
06:06I think this is a great guitar, you can use it for country, jazz, rock, metal, whatever
06:11you want to pull out of it.
06:13Vintage VS63V is really one of my favourites.
06:16I highly recommend that you pop along to your local vintage dealer or nip online and have
06:21a look and check one out for yourself as soon as you can.
06:23You won't be disappointed.
06:24I'm Tim Slater and thank you for joining me today.
