00:00.
00:30Hi, I'm Tim Slater and today I'm very very pleased to talk to you about the magnificent
00:45vintage V100. The V100 is the flagship of the vintage reissued series and this particular
00:52model is finished in a majestic honey burst finish. The tuners are genuine Grover Deluxe
01:00tuners and these particular ones feature really nice tinted tulip keys, which I think is really
01:08in keeping with the overall vibe of the guitar. It looks really great. We have a low friction
01:13Graf-Tech nut, a one-piece mahogany neck which has a lovely soft vintage C profile. It's not
01:21too deep and yet it's not too shallow, it's just the perfect combination for nice speedy
01:26accurate playing. 12 inch radius rosewood fingerboard topped off with crown inlays, looks really
01:31smart and authentic and 22 medium jumbo frets. The body neck joint differs from a traditional
01:40one in that it's slightly offset and the cutaway is slightly enhanced to enable much better access
01:48to the upper frets than we would normally associate with this style of guitar. It works really well,
01:52it's very very comfortable. We have a mahogany body topped off with a maple veneer. As I said
01:59at the top of this video, this particular one is finished in this majestic honey burst finish,
02:03it just looks awesome. We have two Wilkinson double coils mated to a standard three-way toggle switch,
02:11two master tone, two master volume controls. Also we have Wilkinson, a tun-o-matic bridge and a stock
02:18tailpiece. So everything is good and solid and chunky, exactly what we expect. So let's go through
02:23the tones together. Starting with the clean tones, this style of guitar, whilst it's associated with a
02:29kind of a rich thick plumminess, there should also be a kind of a spanky quality to the treble that really
02:35cuts through on clean tones and on overdriven sounds. So let's start with the bridge pickup.
03:01Yeah, really nice. You know, it really cuts through. There's some sort of natural compression in there as
03:04well, which sounds really good. Middle position. I like to use this position for rhythm work
03:10because it has a slightly scooped quality to it, which I think cuts through really nicely in a mix.
03:28There's a kind of a percussive quality to it, which is really nice. But again, underneath you still got
03:33that nice warmth from the Wilkinson. Double coils. Okay, neck pickup in isolation.
03:37Again, nice and spanky, but there's kind of a warm plumminess underneath. Lovely, lovely, versatile guitar.
04:06Very simple, very simple, but really rich sounding. So let's have a listen to some overdriven tones.
04:11Bridge pickup.
04:36It's really responsive, really dynamic. If you back off your pick attack a little.
04:49You've got that really lovely chiminess to it, but you dig in.
04:57That lovely throaty growl is very much in evidence. Okay, mid position, overdriven.
05:02Nice combo of the two. It's kind of got a bit of top end bite to it,
05:13but there's a nice kind of slightly scooped quality to it, which sounds really cool.
05:21Bags of sustain. I'm not going to talk about you can pop out for a bite,
05:25but you know what I'm talking about. Neck pickup.
05:43Back off your pick attack. The richness comes through, but as soon as you dig in,
05:48you've got that lovely sustain. Sustains for days, as they say.
06:00So to sum up, the vintage V100 is a really, really superb guitar.
06:05Offers unparalleled performance and value for money. So don't forget you've got top quality
06:11hardware throughout. We have genuine Grover tuners. We have Wilkinson pickups and hardware.
06:17Really great construction. Everything is clean, beautifully put together, and the guitar just
06:22looks awesome, I think. My name is Tim Slater. It's been my pleasure to talk about and demonstrate
