00:00My passion was always cooking, so I gravitated more to that at a young age.

00:08And then I continue getting encouragement from my mother, my family, and even my teachers from school.
00:15Javon told us at the age of nine, he knew the culinary arts was his dream,
00:21being the first student to be featured in the Speyside High School's Entrepreneur Spotlight.
00:27Following the discovery of his impressive skills in the kitchen.
00:32His dream is to one day become an international chef.
00:35Today, he cooked for TV6 News, coconut rice, salad, honey glazed chicken, steamed vegetables, cassava balls, and a refreshing glass of lime juice.
00:48That was my dream from a young age.
00:51I always wanted to travel out and learn how to make different type of foods, increase my knowledge in the culinary arts.
01:02His mother, Siobhan Phillips Manning, is proud of her son's accomplishment, as he serves up mouth-watering dishes for his household.
01:12We are in a state of emergency because of crime, but yet your son is excelling in the culinary field.
01:20What are your feelings?
01:22I'm proud. I'm happy.
01:24And it's an example for his younger brothers.
01:28So it might not always be perfect, but he is excelling and the other brothers will see him doing that.
01:34And they will also follow suit.
01:35According to the Speyside High School, driven by passion from an early age, Javon enrolled in cooking classes to refine his technique and deepen his understanding of the culinary arts.
01:49His advice to those looking on, never give up.
01:52Push towards making your dreams a reality.
01:56I encourage you to chase your dreams and put yourself in a better position.
