00:32people including a pregnant woman have died. More than 280 have been rescued so far though dozens
00:40suffered burns and smoke inhalation with at least 18 seriously injured. The number of missing remains
00:48uncertain as the passenger manifest has yet to be fully reconciled. The video circulating online
00:57showed terrified passengers including children jumping into the ocean wearing life jackets or
01:04clinging to debris. One live stream showed a passenger holding a baby while pleading for help. The rescue
01:12operation led by Indonesia's National Search and Rescue Agency with support from Navy ships
01:18fishing boats and nearby ferries is ongoing. Locals have also joined the effort,
01:24head being pulled survivors from the water. The cause of the fire is still under investigation,
01:30with early reports pointing to possible electrical faults, engine failure or a fuel leak. The ferry had
01:37already been delayed the previous day due to a storm, raising further concerns about its condition.
