00:00DRS, a focus still on the NL East, really a two-team race and only a half-game razor-thin
00:06margin between the Phillies in first and the New York Mets in second.
00:10The Phillies, a minus 180 favorite.
00:12You would have to say, DRS, that is the odds makers taking into account the pitching potential
00:17of Philadelphia.
00:19The Cy Young favorite right now in Zach Wheeler.
00:21Two all-star should-have-beens in Christopher Sanchez and Ranger Suarez.
00:25Jesus Lizardo, who has been great at times, not so great at others.
00:29You hope he rounds into his opening part of the year form the remainder of the way and
00:34the return of what we hope is a healthy Arenola for Philadelphia.
00:39And despite a star-studded offensive lineup, not really producing in that way.
00:44DRS, final six sets for the Phillies ahead of the all-star break.
00:48Just three times in those final six series, did the Phillies score more than five runs.
00:55What has been that issue offensively, maybe holding the Phillies back from opening up the
01:00lead in this division and trying to challenge the Dodgers for that top spot in the National
01:05League?
01:06Yeah, number one, Harper just not being himself, getting back to, you know, hitting power shots
01:10here.
01:10Kyle Schwerber, we know, is the power guy, but the rest of the lineup doesn't have a lot
01:13of power.
01:13It's one of the few lineups in baseball that struggles.
01:15It's like, we have to get four runners on base to get one run here.
01:19That's not supposed to happen.
01:21Like the old Philadelphia Phillies, hey, get a walk out there.
01:23Here comes that two-run bomb, like in the Ryan Howard, Jimmy Rollins, Chase Utley era.
01:27Now, granted, the Phillies have had some really good offensive teams over the past couple
01:30years, but it's just a flawed lineup at this point.
01:32The interesting part for the Phillies is what changes are going to make coming up to the
01:36deadline.
01:36You can't just change in and out superstar players.
01:39Okay, now we have a ready-made team, but they just need somebody in the top of the lineup
01:42that's like a table setter.
01:44Like you see some things going around, like if the Cleveland Guardians end up selling.
01:47Well, Classe is the big deal in the back end because the Phillies are looking for a closer.
01:50Alvarado comes back August 18th, Ben, but he can't pitch in the postseason, but can help
01:54down the stretch.
01:55But more importantly, like Trey Turner's having a sensational year at the plate.
01:59You love to see it, but if he's getting on base, there's too many strikeouts and not
02:03enough power behind him at that point.
02:04You'd love to see like a Steven Kwan who's thought to be maybe on the market.
02:07Like, let's just say Kwan goes number one in the lineup.
02:09Then you have obviously Trey Turner too, which bleeds into Bryce Harper and then into like,
02:14you know, the rest part of that lineup and Kyle Schwarber.
02:16So you have the power behind the guys that are on base.
02:18They just need more traffic on base, but also power, man.
02:22Like Alec Bone, where's your power?
02:23Bryson Stott's been there a couple of years, certainly insignificant.
02:26Brandon Marsh gets lost in the nine hole.
02:28Like it just seems like they're fighting uphill.
02:29It's like, what'd the Phillies do in that last inning?
02:31They got a walk in two singles and they still haven't scored a run yet.
02:34It's like that can't happen.
02:36And that's been happening.
02:37You don't want to waste a historic pitching performance.
02:39Like the Phillies are getting out of their starters here.
02:41They must make moves.
02:42But to answer your question, Ben, they just don't have the pop in the lineup that they should
02:46have here and maybe just a healthy Bryce Harper will get the pop back into the lineup in the
02:51second half.
