00:00Mets have turned it on at least over the weekend.
00:02Maybe this is the start, Tom, of something for them.
00:05They've had a horrible month, but, you know,
00:07they're still in a very good position to make the playoffs
00:09because the Phillies have not run away with it.
00:12They're 71-53.
00:13Mets win in Williamsport at the Little League World Series site yesterday.
00:17Meanwhile, on the flip side, Phillies are not playing their best baseball.
00:20They split their series with the Washington Nationals.
00:23And I think there's a pretty good shot that both teams make the postseason.
00:26And the difference, I guess, between the Mets and maybe some of these other teams, Tom,
00:30is that the Mets are just playing really bad baseball, but they are healthy, right?
00:34Like, they have all their players.
00:35They just haven't gotten going at the same time.
00:37They really haven't.
00:38And at this point, I would say that the Mets should be more concerned with the Reds
00:43rather than trying to chase down the Phillies.
00:45The Mets are only a game and a half above the Reds for the last wildcard spot.
00:49And, you know, the Reds coming down to the end of the season,
00:52they're going to have X amount of games versus the Cardinals and or the Pirates.
00:55And, you know, if we get to a late-season series versus the Pirates,
00:58if you were to tell me that they shut down Skeens or scale him back in any way,
01:02I don't think anyone's going to be too surprised.
01:04So Reds can pick up a few more wins there.
01:06The Braves are all of a sudden playing better.
01:08We know that the Braves want to spoil anything they can for the Mets,
01:10as we saw earlier this week.
01:12The Mets need to pick up as many consistent wins as they can.
01:15And I think it has to start with the starting pitching.
01:17It really has to be better.
