03:00How we call Christianity
03:18Well, good morning, friends.
03:20Hey, this is Brother Mike coming to you live from the Man Cave in Sun City, Arizona.
03:27And it's certainly nice to see you this morning.
03:32Shout out to my shut-ins.
03:34Love having you on the broadcast.
03:36And thank you for tuning in.
03:38I'm always here every Sunday morning, nine o'clock.
03:42This is Pacific Time now in Arizona.
03:45We're on Pacific Time.
03:48And welcome to hardcorechristianity.com.
03:54Welcome to the Arizona Deliverance Center.
03:58Please remember we have a lot of interesting services at the Deliverance Center.
04:10We have two live services every week, Thursday, Friday nights, and seven o'clock.
04:14And we have four Zoom services.
04:21And I think we're going to be adding one or two more.
04:24That's on Monday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sundays.
04:30Every month we have a healing service for children.
04:32The first, the fourth Saturday, excuse me, the first Saturday of the month at 10 o'clock in the morning.
04:40And then we have discipleship training every Tuesday night at 630.
04:45Right now, Julie's going through the miracle list.
04:50We also have discipleship training program the fourth Saturday of every month at noon with our friend Dave Baldwin.
05:01I got all kinds of great reports from the healing service last night with Peter the preacher.
05:08He was there again.
05:10We had a Pentecostal service at the Deliverance Center.
05:13And it went great.
05:16So thank you for your prayers and everyone that attended the service.
05:20It was fantastic.
05:23You can watch it on YouTube.
05:25You can watch all of our services on YouTube, I believe.
05:28And we appreciate you joining us.
05:31Today's Bible study, a little off the trail a little bit.
05:37Romans chapter 12 is a very popular chapter.
05:40Lots of people preach and teach out of it.
05:41But I thought I'd flip over to Romans 13.
05:44I found some gems there I'd like to share with you.
05:49Romans chapter 13, one of the beginning of the chapter, he talks about stuff that's kind of, you know, basically uninteresting.
05:58It's essential, but a lot of people aren't interested in it and don't like it.
06:04It's about the federal government, the state government, county government, local government, city, all these different governments.
06:11And Paul is talking about obeying higher powers and different government agencies and so on.
06:17The police, the water company, whatever it is.
06:20And then he goes on to talk about the commandments of God.
06:29And he lists off some of the commandments that were translated, transferred from the Old Testament into the New Testament.
06:39For example, he mentions a murder, stealing, lying, adultery, coveting, all that stuff.
06:47He mentions it all.
06:48But he says something very interesting in verse 10.
06:51And he's quoting Jesus here.
06:55Verse 10 says, love, love does not work.
07:02Love works no ill will to his neighbor.
07:06Therefore, love is fulfilling of the law.
07:09And that's what Jesus taught, remember?
07:12Yeah, of course you do.
07:14Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with everything you've got.
07:16And you shall love your neighbor as yourself.
07:21Love goes up first, and then it spreads out second.
07:25Up to God, out to others.
07:30That's the way love works.
07:32And love fulfills the law, Paul said.
07:36Jesus said, love your neighbor and loving God fulfills all the law and the prophets.
07:43That's interesting.
07:47So Paul's kind of quoting Jesus here.
07:50And then he says, in light of obeying magistrates, and then in light of loving your neighbor,
07:58he then says, and there's a conjunction in the next verse, verse 11.
08:07Anytime there's a conjunction in the text, it's connecting this verse to that one, almost like a Siamese twin.
08:19And so-and-so, and so-and-so.
08:25In the Greek text, those two are connected.
08:28So then he says here, and knowing, Greek word edu, seeing, seeing that the time, seeing the time,
08:44that now it is high time to awake out of sleep.
08:49For now is our salvation nearer than when we first believed.
08:56Now, this was written 2,000 years ago.
09:01How much more nearer now in the 21st century than it was then?
09:10We're, in my opinion, at the tail end of the dispensation of grace.
09:15If you're going to do something for God, friend, you need to get it done now.
09:22You need to hit it now and hit it hard because you are running out of time, okay?
09:31And you say, well, I'm not an old man like you, Brother Mike.
09:34I'm in my 20s, 30s, 40s.
09:37No, you're not an old man like me, but that's not what this is talking about.
09:41This is talking about the time of the end.
09:45When is this going to end?
09:48When is the second coming?
09:49When's the rapture?
09:50When the tribulation?
09:51It's only a few years away now.
09:54Everybody can see that clearly.
09:59Okay, knowing that, knowing the time, that's the Greek word charis.
10:03It means season.
10:06God broke down eternity into seasons.
10:09Right now, we are in the season of the dispensation of grace.
10:17Okay, that comes from Calvary and the resurrection right through to the return of Christ.
10:25This season, we're at the tail end of this season.
10:29And he says, knowing that the season, now it is high time to awake out of sleep.
10:39Now, that's the Greek word, excuse me, agairo, and it means to rise up.
10:45That's what Jesus did, same Greek word.
10:48He rose from the dead.
10:51It's time for now for you to awake out of sleep.
10:58For now is your salvation nearer than when you first believed.
11:04Translation, you've got to get this done now.
11:08You've got to use your love for your neighbors, for humanity, and you need to awake out of sleep and do something about it now.
11:22Verse 12, the night is far spent.
11:28The day is at hand.
11:31In light of that, he says, let us, therefore, cast off the works of darkness.
11:45What are the works of darkness?
11:48The most common works of darkness among born-again Christians are hiding iniquity in their hearts that they haven't dealt with and removed,
11:59taking offenses at others.
12:01Getting frustrated at people and themselves.
12:07Not controlling their temper or their anger.
12:11Having bitterness in their soul for somebody in their past that stabbed them in the back or kicked them in the face.
12:20These are the typical works of darkness that a born-again Christian runs into.
12:25It is not typical for born-again Christians to be out, you know, living in blatant sin.
12:34But it is pretty common.
12:36Some born-again Christians, you know, half backslide, and they lead kind of a secret sinful life.
12:47Particularly nowadays with Pornhub out there.
12:51Pornhub is the most monstrous cancer anybody's ever seen.
12:54It's all over the planet.
12:57And you can be on your computer and literally within, what, four to eight seconds?
13:03Pornhub is, bang, hardcore Christianity right on the screen.
13:09Excuse me, hardcore pornography.
13:11Not hardcore Christianity.
13:12I wish hardcore Christianity could be right on your screen that quickly.
13:17Boom.
13:17I wish we were there like that.
13:19Hardcore porn, hardcore porn, bang, right on the screen.
13:22Unbelievable.
13:24Works of darkness.
13:25Hidden lust, anger, bitterness, resentment in the soul comes out.
13:32It expresses itself in lustful behavior, licentiousness, wantonness, anger, yelling, screaming, argumentative, quarreling.
13:49Then he says, we don't do those works of darkness anymore.
13:54We put on the armor of light.
13:57And then verse 13, he says, let us walk honestly as in the day.
14:03Translation, the sin that you don't want anybody to see as a born-again Christian.
14:09Usually you hide by yourself or at home or in the dark because you don't want it exposed.
14:16So Paul says, look, you're not in darkness anymore.
14:21You can walk in the light and have everything exposed and there's nothing wrong with you.
14:27But then he cautions against rioting, which is komos in Greek.
14:34And it means partying, right?
14:39Like Diddy.
14:42Diddy's, as I'm saying this, I think his case went to the jury yesterday or the day before.
14:52It went to the jury.
14:53I'm not sure, but it's close.
14:55They were having closing arguments.
14:56Diddy is an example of komos.
14:59Komos, Mardi Gras is an example of komos.
15:06That rapper in Houston years ago where all those people got crushed and killed.
15:13Woodstock, one and two, those kind of things.
15:17Komos, rioting.
15:20Drunk, drugged riots, partying.
15:25And the Greek word actually means komos, a carousel, like you're at a carousel.
15:31You've let your inhibitions go and you're just riding a carousel, having fun.
15:36Then he says drunkenness.
15:39Methay is the Greek word where we get our English word methamphetamines.
15:46Drunkenness.
15:49In chambering.
15:50Koite is the Greek word for chambering and it's translated in English as koitas, sexual intercourse.
16:01What's he saying here?
16:03Well, people who get drunk or use drugs, your morals tend to loosen and you do things you would not normally do.
16:14For example, sleep with someone that, generally speaking, you wouldn't even shake their hand.
16:18I remember years ago, this was a long, really a long time ago.
16:26One of my ex-wife's sister, and she used to go to the hockey games.
16:34We used to have minor league hockey here in Maricopa County at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum, not too far away from the Arizona Deliverance Center.
16:44And they were called the Road Runners.
16:47And this team used to come from Canada.
16:52And they stayed at a hotel downtown that had a very popular bar.
16:58I've forgotten the name of it now.
17:01But anyway, after the hockey games at the Coliseum, everybody would go downtown and party all night.
17:10And that's where the hockey players from out of town, the visiting teams, they would have hotel rooms there.
17:18Well, they'd party downstairs in the bar and then everybody would go up in the hotel room for sex.
17:25Well, my ex-wife's sister got drunk and went up to one of the rooms and had sex with one of the hockey players from Canada.
17:39And she was so drunk, she passed out.
17:42And then four other hockey players then had sex with her, one after the other.
17:49They ran a train on her.
17:51And the next morning, she went to the emergency room, obviously, and got checked out.
17:59Only God knows what happened to her.
18:02But that's an example of chambering.
18:06That's an old English term for sexual promiscuity.
18:13That's what happened.
18:14She got drunk, passed out, and five guys slept with her.
18:19And she couldn't do anything about it.
18:20She couldn't get out.
18:22She was literally in and out of consciousness.
18:26She was so drunk.
18:27She'd had so many drinks.
18:28And then she says, wantonness.
18:32Again, same theme.
18:35Same theme.
18:36Human sexuality.
18:38On my radio program, on 1010 AM Christian Radio, I'm on every morning, Monday through Friday at 730.
18:45I've been on there for 23 years.
18:48I think it's 23.
18:49It could be 24.
18:50I'll have to check on it.
18:51But anyway, I always have a radio program on TV preachers and megachurch pastors, famous ministers who fall.
19:04And then I explain how it happened.
19:07And I explain the church got rid of deliverance.
19:11The people got into the ministry because they didn't go through deliverance first.
19:15And they got involved in carryover.
19:18I call it carryover.
19:19It's carrying your demons from your sinful life into your Christian life.
19:23Once you're a born-again Christian, you're also supposed to go through deliverance, which was routine in the early church in the first century.
19:32Deliverance was a common benefit of the gospel.
19:35Everybody got involved in it.
19:37Nobody was surprised.
19:39Nowadays, it's very rare.
19:43People get saved.
19:45They have a desire to serve God.
19:47They go to Bible college and they go to a seminary.
19:49Then they go to get a certificate online or whatever it is.
19:52And then they go right into the ministry.
19:54Well, what they did was they carried over their demons from their sinful life into the Christian life.
19:59And then later on, the demons caused a scandal to break out.
20:02And these big-time scandals are always related to one of two things, as you know, sex, money.
20:11It's one of those two things that causes it to blow up.
20:14And it's all because the church got rid of deliverance.
20:20So here you have demons causing people all kinds of problems here.
20:26Rioting, drunkenness, chambering, wantonness.
20:31It's in verse 13 in Romans chapter 13.
20:34It's easy to remember, 13, 13.
20:36And wantonness, as you know, is related to it.
20:41Asselgia is a Greek word, and it means to engage in lustful behavior.
20:48For example, an exotic dancer.
20:51For example, flirting at a bar, trying to pick up somebody.
20:56Lustful behaviors.
20:57And then he says, we are not to be involved in strife.
21:05Uris is the Greek word for people that are quarrelsome.
21:08They like to argue.
21:10They're argumentative people.
21:13As soon as you start arguing about the Bible and Scripture, you've gone down a dark path.
21:21You're back in darkness.
21:24You cannot argue with people about doctrine and Scriptures.
21:27It never goes anywhere.
21:30Everybody digs in like Alabama ticks.
21:34They don't listen to anybody.
21:35If you start arguing, people emotionally shut down.
21:40And then the last thing he says is envying.
21:44Okay, and that was mistranslated by the King James Bible.
21:48Zelos is the Greek word.
21:50It means to have a huge, significant, aggressive desire for something.
22:00Could be good, could be bad.
22:01In this particular case, due to the context of the text, it's bad.
22:05Eagerly and aggressively.
22:08And I was in that boat myself when I lived in sin.
22:12I loved to go to happy hours.
22:15I went to happy hour every Friday night at a bar downtown at the Point Resort called Enchiladas.
22:23I was there every Friday night.
22:24And all my friends were there, the other counselors, lawyers, different business associates.
22:30They would come.
22:32And every Friday night, we'd just go down there.
22:35And a lot of people got drunk.
22:38I rarely got drunk.
22:39I would get a buzz on and then switch to Diet Cokes.
22:43But it didn't matter.
22:44It was something similar.
22:46And once you get intoxicated with drugs or alcohol, your morality kind of loosens.
22:53And you do things, you say things you would not normally do or say.
22:58And that's what it's talking about here.
23:02Being aggressive, being interested in things that are dark.
23:07And verse 14, Paul kills it here.
23:12He says, put on the Lord Jesus and make no provision for the flesh.
23:21That's pronoia, which means if you were going to go camping and you took supplies with you, water, food, barbecue, whatever it is,
23:34you're camping gear, you're putting up supplies for camping.
23:39And Paul's saying, don't make any provision for your flesh because this thing is ugly.
23:48Your flesh is horrible.
23:52And it hates God.
23:54Your body hates God.
24:00It can't stand Him.
24:04Because your flesh is completely and totally self-centered.
24:11Your flesh is your enemy.
24:15And it will not listen to God.
24:18It will not serve God.
24:20It hates God.
24:27It wants you to love it.
24:31Your flesh needs you to love it.
24:35Paul said, no, you fulfill the law by loving your neighbor, not loving others.
24:42Jesus was the prime example of it.
24:44He had, he destroyed his flesh.
24:47He went on a 40-day fast, killing the thing.
24:52And while he was on the end, at the end of the fast, he had to face Satan and the temptations of Satan.
25:02And not the way we face temptations.
25:07We face temptations through demons, who use subtlety and bring us things and show us things and draw people in and so on.
25:19Jesus had to face Satan in person.
25:23And Jesus took that opportunity to, number one, kill his flesh, because the devil tried to get him to eat bread, because he knew he was starving.
25:41In translation, Satan tried to get him to fulfill the lusts of his flesh, the desires of his flesh.
25:50Well, the Lord Jesus was killing his flesh to live a sinless life.
25:57And when you overcome your flesh and you kill your flesh, you will not sin.
26:05You will not be involved with alcohol or drugs or food-related obesity.
26:12You will not be involved with these things.
26:16You will not be involved with all the promiscuity Paul was mentioning in this verse.
26:21This is the most sexually-oriented verse in any of Paul's writings.
26:29I mean, he dives right into the sin of human sexuality.
26:36And he said, hey, if you start taking alcohol or drugs or smoking this or that,
26:43hey, your morals are going to, your conscience is going to loosen.
26:48Your morals are going to sag.
26:51And you're going to get involved in something that you would have never done when you weren't drunk.
26:59Yeah.
27:00I remember years ago, this was like 30 years ago, something like that.
27:08Maybe it was 28 years ago.
27:09I don't remember.
27:10It was the night of the Evandra Holyfield-George Foreman fight.
27:13And I had bet money on Foreman.
27:20I thought he was going to knock Holyfield out.
27:23And I went over to a friend's house to watch the fight with a bunch of other guys.
27:30And it went to a decision, of course.
27:36Foreman lost.
27:37He did a great job, but he obviously lost.
27:40I think it might have been a split decision or a close unanimous decision.
27:44Anyway, I was, by the time the end of the fight, I was plastered.
27:49And I was so excited watching the fight, I just kept drinking beers.
27:52And I don't normally do that.
27:55I was not a big drunk when I was living in sin.
27:59But that night I did, boom.
28:01I had a buddy of mine that came with me to the fight.
28:06But his name was Don.
28:10And after Foreman lost, I immediately left.
28:13I lost my money.
28:14I don't want to say how much I lost that night.
28:17It was a lot.
28:19Anyway, I'm driving down the road.
28:22And we start laughing at stuff.
28:25I don't even remember what we were laughing at.
28:27Stupid jokes.
28:29Crazy stuff.
28:30And so on.
28:30And I'm not watching my driving.
28:32And not too long after that, red light's behind me.
28:37I get pulled over.
28:39Guess what happened to me?
28:41I sure did.
28:42I got a DUI.
28:44Yep, lost my license for a year.
28:47I had to go to classes.
28:49Let's see, we had to pay a fine.
28:51There was no jail time in Arizona back then.
28:54It was only classes and fines.
28:58So I went through that whole system.
29:00And kept driving without my license.
29:09You know, I didn't listen to that.
29:11So anyway, but that was a typical example of what Paul's talking about here.
29:15You get drunk and you do things you would not normally have done.
29:21I would not normally have been weaving back and forth, laughing hysterically in the car with my friend, had I not been drunk.
29:32Paul hit it right on the head.
29:36He said, let us walk honestly in the day, not in rioting, drunkenness, chambering, or wantonness.
29:44Not in strife.
29:50Not in zealous desire for sin.
29:55And that's what it was for me.
29:57I was gambling.
29:58I was drunk.
29:59I got mad because Foreman lost.
30:02Then I was drunk and I got hysterical with laughter.
30:05We started, you know, laughing our heads off.
30:09I was trying to forget the money I lost.
30:11All that stuff.
30:12And so the point is, Paul was 100% right.
30:16You know, obviously, I obviously quit drinking.
30:19But that was my old life.
30:21And that's kind of how things went back then.
30:24I finally got the DUI off my record.
30:29This was like back in the early 90s or something.
30:31I think it was 1991.
30:33Something like that.
30:34But anyway, I was living in sin, acting a fool.
30:39And I was completely nuts.
30:41And so Paul is saying, look, wake up.
30:47Wake out of sleep.
30:48Our season is almost over here.
30:50If you want to do something for God, you've got to get this thing done now.
30:57If you've got demons and you're going through deliverance, you need to step up.
31:01Step up.
31:04Put in more time and more energy and more effort to get all the demons out.
31:09You have to finish your deliverance.
31:11If you are living with demons and you know you have them and you're not fighting on a daily basis to get them out.
31:23The demons interpret it as you like them and want them to stay.
31:28That's how they see it.
31:29If you look through their eyes, they say, hey, this girl, this guy, he's okay with us.
31:38We gave him these pet sins, this little pocket, that little pocket, this one, got a pocket here.
31:46We gave him those sins and he's not getting rid of them.
31:50She's not doing anything about it.
31:52So therefore.
31:52They like it.
32:01They love it.
32:03They want me to hang around.
32:06Huh?
32:06If a homeless person came to your house and just walked in and started to put his stuff on your couch in the living room.
32:15And he said, well, I need a place to sleep.
32:18I've decided to you.
32:19I need to sleep.
32:20So I decided to use your home.
32:22And you just leave the guy there.
32:27And you don't do anything about it.
32:30Okay.
32:31You don't do anything about it.
32:39What are you telling the guy?
32:43What are you saying?
32:48That means you want to keep your demons.
32:52I've done marriage counseling before where one of the spouses goes through deliverance.
33:01The other one doesn't.
33:02They want to keep their demons.
33:06Guess what's going to happen to that marriage?
33:08It's going to blow up eventually.
33:10They all do.
33:11And this is how it works.
33:19If you don't get rid of your spirits, if you don't get rid of your sin, the devil looks at it and goes, hey, these people are okay with it.
33:26I think I think I'll sleep on their couch.
33:30I'm a homeless demon.
33:33And I want to sleep in their house.
33:34If you don't change and you're still quarreling and fighting about religious things and fighting over doctrine and you're not out expressing your love for others, love your neighbor as yourself.
33:55If you're not doing that and you're fighting over Bible doctrines or you and the Calvinists are having a 10 round main event.
34:06But, well, you're a spiritual loser and you're not going to make it.
34:13The season is almost over, Paul said.
34:16And now it is high time to awake out of sleep.
34:20Oh, Brother Mike, we've got to fix all these people's false doctrine.
34:25We've got to have a big fight over can you lose your salvation?
34:29Is speaking in tongues for today.
34:31Oh, we're going to be a big fight over it.
34:34OK, you're out of it.
34:37Your friend, you're gone.
34:38You're out of it.
34:39The demons have taken your mind.
34:42They're tricking you because demons love everything Paul mentioned in this verse.
34:49They love it.
34:51Don't they?
34:53They love the works of darkness.
34:55They love it when you get drunk.
34:58They love it when you're partying.
35:01They love it when you're engaging in lustful behavior.
35:04Correct?
35:06Correct?
35:06They love it when you're sexually promiscuous, chambering.
35:13And they hate it when you put on the Lord Jesus Christ and do not make any provision for your flesh.
35:22They hate that.
35:22But I'll give you a secret.
35:27The best way to get rid of demons is, number one, to weaken them first.
35:31So if you know that you do something they don't like, put that on steroids and ramp it up.
35:39And do it more.
35:44Keep doing it more.
35:46If you do things demons hate, that drives them crazy.
35:52Absolutely drives them crazy.
35:58And that's how you weaken them.
36:00They get so frustrated and so angry.
36:02They make bad choices.
36:04They're very similar to human beings.
36:06If your behavior frustrates demons, you can weaken them and you can get them out.
36:15If you keep feeding them and you don't put on the Lord Jesus Christ and you keep collecting supplies to feed your flesh, as Paul said, Romans 13, you know what's going to happen?
36:29Man, you're going to miss your season.
36:32This is your season.
36:37If you've been a rotten, horrible sinner, that's wonderful.
36:41The grace and the blood of Christ covers it.
36:46First Corinthians chapter one.
36:48If you've been a long-term failure, wonderful.
36:54You're right in line for a miracle from God.
36:59It's kind of like going to Costco.
37:00You ever gone through the self-checkout at Costco?
37:04Yeah, you're going to stand in this long line, right?
37:09At Sam's Club, the line's not very long.
37:11You get up there pretty quick.
37:12But in Costco, man, there's a long line behind you and in front of you.
37:17And you go through.
37:19You wait your turn.
37:20You wait for a terminal to open up.
37:22And then you go up and you start beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep.
37:29I don't do that.
37:30My wife does it.
37:31I can't stand it.
37:32Beep, beep, beep, beep.
37:35You check your stuff out.
37:37Yeah, your season in the line was about 5, 10, 15 minutes, whatever it was, depending on the day at Costco.
37:45And then you get up and check out your stuff.
37:50Beep, beep, beep, beep.
37:51That was your season.
37:53It was a short one.
37:55Okay, now the season is much shorter than Paul.
38:00We're 2,000 years into this thing and we're right near the end.
38:03The rapture, tribulation is only a few years away now.
38:08You're running out of time.
38:09If you want to do something for God, you have got to make your move and you've got to do it quickly because this is it.
38:19You don't have time to party and get a DUI like Brother Mike.
38:23You don't have time to be promiscuous and sleep with everybody and you don't have time to do it.
38:32Time is running out.
38:36That's what Peter said.
38:37If the time has come that judgment must begin at the house of God and at first begin at us, what shall the end be of those who obey not the gospel of God?
38:48Your relatives, friends, and neighbors are on their way to the highway to hell.
38:53And this season of their failure and you not loving them, for you will love your neighbor as yourself, is over.
39:03And you're going to do something about it.
39:05And the Holy Spirit's eagerly waiting for you to come in.
39:11But you have to go first, as you know.
39:13Draw an eye to God and he'll draw an eye to you.
39:15You go first, then he goes second.
39:19And you're going to make it.
39:21You're going to be a very powerful spiritual person.
39:25Because you're not going to make any provision for the flesh, are you?
39:34All right, I love you.
39:35I'll see you next time.
