Transcript
00:00Welcome to Love Your Neighbourhood. We're here in Nosal, a unique village with two hubs
00:05and we're here to talk to people to hear what they think about Nosal.
00:10So we're at Greaves Coffee House in Nosal. So what made you choose Nosal?
00:15Well, a big village to start with, a really big village and we felt that the village needed a
00:20coffee shop, coffee house somewhere with a good decent coffee which we do provide, we're renowned
00:25for. Our coffee is from Chartley, so it's quite local and we get all our milk from Braidley,
00:32so it's a local dairy and we try and offer as much as we can in variation of drinks and we do
00:39like bites, cakes, pastries, things like that. So it's definitely extremely popular with the public?
00:44It is, yes. We've had a really good receiving from all the community and local villages around
00:50to support us as well. So you'll see school children in, you'll see all sorts of people
00:57come in which is great and we go on really well with them all, we've got a really good customer basis.
01:01Do you think this has been a point in the community which has allowed people to connect?
01:05Definitely. We wanted it to be a community hub, we wanted to encourage that and we have a lot of
01:11meetings going on so we have craft little meeting, we have a book meeting, we've got the wi coming in
01:18soon, we have the phoenix group which are over 55 group coming on a friday so we all have all sorts
01:25mums coming with their babies after they've done the nursery pickups so definitely and we do feel
01:30like it's brought the village alive and it's been a real bonus. Hi guys so where are you from?
01:38We're from Mosul. How long have you been living in Mosul? This is our sixth year. What would you say
01:44is your favourite part of it? I think just the fact that it's surrounded by countryside, there's lots of
01:50walks you could do, a building track, the old railway track, everywhere you go there's a bit of greenery,
01:56it's lovely. Lots of pubs, canal. Yeah. Are there any aspects of Mosul that think you need changing?
02:03I think a while ago we were told there used to be like grocers and shops like that we've only really
02:12got Morrisons haven't we, the supermarket, there used to be a butcher's as well so perhaps some
02:19local shops would be nice but yeah there's a few but they're all like supermarketing yeah. Hi guys so
02:25do you live in Mosul? Yes we do. We don't no, we're up here visiting from the Isle of Wight. Okay so what would
02:32you guys say is the best aspect of Mosul? It's a nice quiet life for us. I'd say for sure and how
02:40everybody always connects. Is there a strong sense of community in this? Yeah. Yes. Is there anything you
02:48would change or? No. Potholes? There being a B&B in the village, that would be nice. Yeah yeah especially for
03:00people to stay further out and travel in. So what's like a day-to-day look like in Lisle? I suppose for you guys
03:09every day is different isn't it? Yeah we home ed so we don't exactly do school but on a Sunday we wake up
03:18normally go to church um because the first um the first Sunday of the month is Zoom church so we do it
03:30from home um. Nice wriggle out there. Hello so we're here at Nosul Library with Alec and so we'd just like
03:38to ask you a few questions about Nosul. Not a problem, far away. How long have you been living at Nosul? It'll be 12
03:44years in November. What's your favourite aspect of the city? Well we've got five pubs, two dentists,
03:53doctors, a dispensary, about three garages. We've got everything you want in a you know a small area.
04:04Do you think the library is a key aspect of the community? I would like to think that it is. I
04:09would think the community could use it more but you can lead a horse to water you can't make them
04:14read. If you could give any improvements to the village what would you say? Uh difficult because
04:24I tend to take things as I find them so you know perhaps a little less development but everybody
04:31wants that except for the people who haven't got houses. So has much changed then since? Uh no not really
04:38it's been I'm trying to think. We've lost our green grocery uh that's the only shop I can think of.
04:48Oh the butchers has gone but then they've been replaced by other things so no it's just the usual
04:53change inevitable. None for the worse as far as I know.
