00:00So Kim, we're in Bilbrook, you're a resident here. Just talk to me about what the place is, do you enjoy living here, that kind of thing?
00:07I do enjoy living here, yes. Very nice area, Codswell and Bilbrook. There's lots of facilities around here.
00:13Plenty to do for young people, older people, and just enjoy being here. It's a very nice place to be.
00:21So how long have you been living here?
00:23Well, I lived in Codswell on the Birches Road for 16 years, and I've lived in Bilbrook and Wesley Road for about 11 years.
00:31Brilliant. And in that time, much changing? What's the sort of...
00:36Yeah, it has changed, but obviously, as things are, there's lots of things go on.
00:44But I feel in Bilbrook and Codswell that we're quite protected, and there's a good place for us, and there's good facilities.
00:51Brilliant, like, when you made CTJ, you've heard of the, you know, but it's all very quiet.
00:55What sort of things, what examples can you do?
00:57Well, you've got the Codswell Leisure Centre, you've got Codswell Village Hall, you've got Bilbrook Village Hall,
01:05you've got the churches, so there's quite a few facilities for everybody to use.
01:11So we're in the Woodman Inn with Barry. Barry, a regular here and a local to Bilbrook.
01:15Just talk me through, I guess, your life in Bilbrook and what this place means to you as well.
01:21Yes, it's a beautiful place to live like. I wouldn't live anywhere else anyway. I've been here 75 years.
01:32Brilliant. And coming into this pub for how long as well? Is this your local?
01:37I don't know how long it would come in here. Since 1966. Brilliant. Same order every time.
01:46Well, I see. When it first came here, it was Ansel's pub. Right.
01:51And then it went to the Punch Tower pub. And now it's green king pub lights, the different variations in beer life.
02:00And in that time, you know, they didn't go for a much change.
02:04What's it like now compared to maybe when you were growing up?
02:07With what?
02:08What's it like now in Bilbrook compared to when you were, you know, growing up?
02:12Well, there's a lot more houses about. Right.
02:15A lot more cars about. It was like, are there any car on the road?
02:20It's here. At the front of here, there was a car park. Right.
02:25It's here. There's a lot more, there was a lot more horses on the road than there was cars.
02:35Brilliant. Brilliant. But yeah, in terms of Bilbrook as a place then, like you say, you wouldn't rather live anywhere else?
02:41Oh, I love it here. It's, you don't get no trouble here like you do in the cities and towns.
02:49I'd rather, I wouldn't leave anywhere else.
02:53Brilliant. Perfect.
02:54We're here in Rainbows 2 and Natalie's Beauty with Lindis.
02:57Lindis, just talk to me a little bit about what it's like to work in Bilbrook.
03:00It's lovely. We've got a lovely little community here.
03:03I actually come from Bilbrook myself, so I know a lot of the people that live in the village.
03:10Other than all the new up and coming people as we've got the new houses around us now.
03:15And I work along with my daughter that also comes from the village. So, yes.
03:21Brilliant. And in terms of, you know, you say, so you grew up in Bilbrook then?
03:25I grew up in Bilbrook, yes. Natalie's worked in Bilbrook for about 17 years now. So she knows a lot of people in the village as well. Clients also.
03:36Brilliant. And in terms of, you know, these people in the village then, just talk to me about what the community's like here in Bilbrook.
03:42The community's really good, to be fair. We all look after each other. We've just all entered the Best Kept Village, which unfortunately we didn't win.
03:51But the community came together and got the village all tidy and we, yeah.
03:56And like now, the ladies across at the church have missed a lot of poppies. They're going to put a big net on the church for us.
04:03So the community does come together a lot, to be honest, when there's things going on. So, yes, it's lovely.
04:10Brilliant. And in terms of being in a gift shop, I imagine Christmas coming up, you're approaching busy period now.
04:15Christmas is coming up. It's going to be our busy time now. So, yes, but it's a nice time as well and a nice time for the village too.
04:22Brilliant. Yeah. Perfect.
