00:00You say goodbye while he says hello. I wonder if he's a Beatles fan. Here's a look at McFarlane Toys, DC Multiverse, DC Classics, Bizarro.
00:08Bizarro is a Frankenstein-like monster with a heart of gold. Although he was originally created by Lex Luthor, he has gone on to prove that he has more moral character far superior to that of his mad scientist's father.
00:34Possessing many of Kryptonian abilities, albeit warped and twisted, this heroic clone of Superman fights for truth, justice, and the Bizarro way.
00:43I don't know if you thought this review was bad. You're talking like Bizarro, right? Everything's opposite, right? Right?
00:51Let's take, though, the tape measure. Let's see how tall the DC Classics Bizarro stands.
00:55I found this, hey, on the Facebook selling group from Popeye the Toy Man.
00:59Your name might not be Simon. You're certainly not visiting in a pie man, but you can still check out his wares.
01:07The figure's going to stand, though, at seven inches in heights, or DC Classics Bizarro is 17 and a half centimeters tall.
01:14One thing I find bizarre, though, is that they chose to use Skip Leg Day Superman as the basis for Bizarro's body.
01:20It's a fine thing for Superman, but considering now that we have a better Kal-El, I feel, with the Silver Age release,
01:25and that if he's the clone of Superman, I would have rather they used this body of Superman instead going back to the basics.
01:32Speaking of going back to the basics, they're going back to the basics of the traditional display stand being used.
01:38I know, again, we always get these display stands with the DC Multiverse figures.
01:41If you've been collecting as much as I have, then you have a good stack of these.
01:44These are impossible, though, to stack. I mean, as good as you can try.
01:47You can never balance them because, again, there's always that one neighboring peg.
01:51That blasted peg would have gotten away with it, too, if it wasn't for that peg.
01:55This can obviously plug into the bottom of either one of Bizarro's feet.
01:58You can't have both, though, unless you really have two display stands, and then you just split his legs,
02:03but then that would just be ridiculous.
02:04Who's displaying their figures with two display stands?
02:07Oh, there's somebody in the back.
02:09You have a question, sir?
02:10Oh, no, you're agreeing with the fact that you used two display stands.
02:14Anyways, though, yeah, the DC logo is still branded down below here.
02:17Just a regular traditional black display stand.
02:19Let's move it off to the side.
02:21The figure does also come in clue with a trading card.
02:23Now, I like that this trading card is more of a classic Silver Age Bizarro.
02:28I mean, we've gotten a couple of Bizarros from Todd and his team.
02:31I should have actually brought in a couple of them.
02:32We've also got a Bat-Zaro.
02:34A Bat-Zaro, by the way, two-pack.
02:37I never got the chance to pick that one up.
02:38I know there was a few little issues with the molding, but now we've got ourself sort of more of a classic look to Bizarro,
02:44and a classic card to go with that as well.
02:46Now, if you like the look, though, of Bizarro having a Bizarro number one little necklace there on the front of his chest,
02:51don't worry, don't fear.
02:53He also has that, oh, well, it was over here.
02:55I was pointing over at his hands.
02:56He has it right over there.
02:57The back, though, of the card, basically just giving us the basics on Bizarro, that he's a Frankenstein clone.
03:03Though they depicted on the back of the card that he's more of a hero, just a misunderstood monster.
03:07I kind of really always like the idea of Bizarro being just bad.
03:10Just like a bad Bizarro.
03:11He thinks he's doing well, but just in the process of doing good, he ends up doing bad.
03:16Nice looking card, though.
03:17Let's move that off to the side.
03:18The figure does also come in clue with some swappable hands.
03:20It's interesting, though, enough that he has actually a gripping hand on one side and a close fist on the other.
03:25If you don't like either one of those, offers are available.
03:28The figure does also have, not plotting hands, come on, Bizarro's adult, but he does also have a couple of flat hands.
03:33Those hands, though, can be swapped out.
03:35So basically, you're just going to hold on to the forearm, pop it off the peg.
03:39Boy, that is easy.
03:39It is.
03:41It's kind of easy.
03:42Take, then, the new hand that you want to use, plug it back in place.
03:45Now, even though everything's backwards, I wouldn't really recommend the idea of putting the wrong hand,
03:49because if you put the wrong hand on, then, yes, everything will be backwards.
03:52Well, at least his thumb will be upside down.
03:55Still, it's strange, really, that he has a gripping hand.
03:57It almost really suggests the idea they should be gripping something.
04:00I suppose if he doesn't have this around his neck, you could have him gripping his necklace.
04:05What necklace are you talking about?
04:06Looking like it may have come from bedrock, he has himself Bizarro number one.
04:12Some may argue that point.
04:14I don't know if Bizarro would be considered really number one, but if you ask him, he certainly thinks number one.
04:18Number one.
04:19The actual necklace is all molded here in gray plastic.
04:23It has a rope there on the...
04:24Well, it's not looking like it's tied really to anything.
04:26I don't know how he actually...
04:28I guess there's holes on the front, yet, though, there's nothing...
04:30There's no knots on the back.
04:32Are we going to really spend a whole lot of time trying to figure out how Bizarro made his necklace?
04:35I guess I'm sure you're more concerned with the idea to just go around his head, and it does.
04:39Fits fine.
04:40I mean, it's a little loose, obviously.
04:42It's a little bit of space available there.
04:43Or, again, probably one of the reasons why they chose to have a gripping hand.
04:48If Bizarro wants to take off his medallion that he's made, he can just have that fitting in his hand like that.
04:53And he's like, ooh, Bizarro made this?
04:55Bizarro has a short-term memory.
04:58Yeah, again, you know, I guess it's okay.
04:59He has himself a gripping hand, even though the only other thing I can really think of...
05:03Kryptonite would have been a perfect thing to include with Bizarro.
05:07Is he...
05:07Is he...
05:08I'm trying to think.
05:09Is he weak against Kryptonite?
05:11I think he is.
05:11No, he's not.
05:12Is he?
05:12Let me know.
05:13Let me know down below.
05:14In the meantime, though, let's get a closer look at Bizarro's face.
05:17I like it.
05:17I think it's personally a good-looking head sculpt for Bizarro.
05:20The other one that we had gotten before, the first Bizarro, had actually a shaved head.
05:25I don't know where that Bizarro ended up.
05:27Certainly, though, it wasn't on my shelf.
05:29This would be one that's going to go on my shelf because it's a classic look to the character.
05:34Still, though, I mean, many would look at this and think, well, why would you have chosen to use Action Comics mold?
05:38Not that you're asking me.
05:39You're probably asking Todd McFarlane.
05:41And why would you have chose to use the Action Comics body when we already have a stellar-looking Superman body with a Silver Age release?
05:48Because of that, of course, this Bizarro is using the exact same torso, same arms, same lower legs, same boots.
05:54One thing that is different, though, is that the emblem, the Superman-esque, as backwards as it may be, is not sculpted.
06:01Superman was sculpted, the number of releases that we've gotten of this figure.
06:06Yet Bizarro doesn't actually have that.
06:08I didn't really like, initially, that this was all done in metallic red.
06:13I think I've kind of more warmed up to it now.
06:16Yeah, it doesn't really quite, it's not really the same red or yellow, for that matter, as Trunks.
06:20But the fact that we do have ourselves a backward S on a classic Bizarro, that's A-OK in my books.
06:26Again, I really think the head sculpt is fantastic on Bizarro.
06:29It does just the right thing of delivering a, you know, again, a not-quite-carbon copy of Superman.
06:35It's sort of like the copier after a while with a toner.
06:38You know, you've got to clean the toner, you have to change it.
06:40Or after a while, the toner's sort of telling you, you've got to change me, because it's just sort of leaving marks all over your photocopies.
06:46That's the equivalent of Bizarro here.
06:49He's sort of a flawed photocopy of Superman just before you change the toner.
06:54I do think he's got a nice little chiseled chin.
06:57I think he's also really well-painted, too.
06:59So, adding these little dark airbrushed areas on his cheek and the top of his forehead adds a lot of personality to the figure's face.
07:06Yes, they probably made him look more like a dolt, but I think in the end, though, we've got ourselves a really nice-looking Bizarro.
07:12I like the coloring of the gray that they chose.
07:14And I think even, like, using a lighter blue like this for his costume works the part really well.
07:19Now, if you're expecting a backwards S on the back of his cape, you'll be happy to know as well he does have that.
07:24So, where's the Superman?
07:26This really wouldn't be the best Superman.
07:27There's a cloth version of Superman I really probably should have brought in for this review.
07:31But, yeah, having a backwards S is the nice finishing touches you need on a figure like this.
07:36It's also nice that they finished the cape with a wire on the sides.
07:40There's no wire on the bottom.
07:41I don't think it really ever needs it either.
07:42But just a wire on the side is more than enough.
07:44Here he goes with a very lame curl.
07:46So, if you want to get a pose going for the cape, you can easily do that with the wire they've sewn in place.
07:52Yeah, for the overall, like, even though I kind of would look at this and think,
07:55I don't really think an action comic Superman would have been the best choice.
07:59But, you know, to be fair, prior to the Silver Age release, this was really my go-to Superman.
08:03I think it's still one of the better-looking head sculpts we've gotten.
08:05So, is it really that bad of an idea that they chose that for the body of Bizarro?
08:10Some would maybe say yes.
08:11I would say...
08:12I'm on the fence, to be honest.
08:13Last time, I'm still on the fence.
08:15I like the body.
08:16I think, honestly, though, they probably could have also gotten away with using the Silver Age Superman as the makings for that mold.
08:22Just because, also, again, like, if you chose to make this being your go-to Superman,
08:26then the Bizarro, unfortunately, is going to come up quite short.
08:29Literally.
08:30For the articulation, though, for Bizarro, his head is...
08:33Well, all of it is really going to be action comic Superman.
08:36Head's going to be on the ball joint, so it allows the head to rotate all the way around.
08:39It looks up, only that far.
08:41It looks down.
08:42Yeah, yeah.
08:42It also moves back and forth.
08:44Tell us more, Magic Storyteller.
08:45Well, the fact that the figure has upper torso ball joint, he has lower abdomen ball joint.
08:51The arms rotate all the way around.
08:53No issues there.
08:54No issues.
08:54You can bring those arms out.
08:5690 degrees, although this one got a little hung up.
08:5890 degree angle bend, or that T-pose.
09:01The figure does also have a bicep swivel.
09:03Now, one thing, unfortunately, about using an outdated figure, like...
09:06I don't want to say outdated.
09:07Outdated is probably not the best way to describe it.
09:09But by using a figure, though, that's a little older, it means also that Bizarro sadly gets
09:13only just a single hinge in his elbow.
09:15No double hinges this time around.
09:18Actually, that would be fair.
09:19I mean, this other Superman did also have a double hinge on the elbow.
09:22Some thought it looked a little uglier, though, because he had visible pegs on the sides
09:26and a lot longer of an area where, of course, that elbow would bend.
09:30I don't mind it.
09:31Some people don't really like that.
09:33So if you don't like that, at least this Superman has a cleaner...
09:35Bizarro Superman has a little cleaner of a forearm.
09:38Hands rotate.
09:39Yes, they do.
09:39All the way around.
09:40There's a hinge back and forth there as well.
09:42Did we show the legs?
09:43Not the legs yet.
09:44Legs split out.
09:45Just like that.
09:46You can take the legs.
09:48They go forward.
09:48They go back.
09:49Yeah, they do.
09:50They don't go back as far as you would hope, though.
09:52I mean, not that you're going to have, like, wide running...
09:54Actually, you could have them still in a running pose.
09:56There's a swivel at the top of the thigh.
09:58Just only by a little bit.
09:59Double hinge on the knee.
10:00No articulation here, my friends.
10:02Just because, again, that's all one sculpting.
10:04If you're looking at this and you're looking at this, would you believe the two are together?
10:07That's all one mold right there.
10:10Right there.
10:12I don't know what that was going on.
10:13Hinge, yes, in the foot.
10:15An ankle rocker.
10:17And the figure does also have toe articulation as well.
10:20I'm still not sure, though, how I feel about using the Action Comics body.
10:24You know, on one end, though, it's a good-sized Superman.
10:28You know, again, if you're looking at, unfortunately, like his legs, his legs aren't as muscular.
10:32It's one of those Superman that, unfortunately, just misses leg day.
10:35You know, by contrast to that, had they used maybe this Superman, not only do you have the muscular torso,
10:41but you have an equally proportioned muscular lower leg as well.
10:45The thing about that, though, is a lot of people may still go to their Action Comics Superman as their definitive Superman.
10:50I still think it's one of the best Superman head sculpts we still have gotten.
10:53And if that is your definitive Superman, then yes, at least for a flawed carbon copy of the Man of Steel,
11:00at least you got yourself a Bizarro that has the same body.
11:03It's entirely your personal opinion.
11:05On one end, though, I kind of really wish that he could have used the larger body of the Silver Age Superman.
11:10On the other end, though, I mean, you know, that's not a bad Superman.
11:13At least it wasn't using the hush Superman.
11:15I think we can all kind of agree that's a body that needs to really, really be retired.
11:19To his praise, at least, the paint's done really well for Bizarro's face.
11:23He has a fabric cape, so that's another positive point.
11:26And everything is backwards in Bizarro's world, so obviously he has not only the backwards S on the front of his chest,
11:32but spin him around, yeah, as we saw in this review.
11:35He does also have a backwards S on the back of his cape.
11:37And having that on the back of his cape is just, again, the finishing touches for a much better-looking Bizarro
11:42than maybe the ones we've gotten in the past.
11:44Ooh, Bizarro like Bizarro number one necklace.
11:47Not only would I agree that I like the necklace, I like the figure that goes with the necklace as well.
11:52While it is, yes, using the action comic Superman body, he's missed leg day, he's a little leaner in the legs.
11:58Bizarro seems to work with that mold, even though it's going to be a little bit smaller
12:01if you're planning to display him along with the Silver Age Superman,
12:05which initially I was going to do that.
12:07I might just end up, though, displaying Bizarro with the rest of the bad guys for soups,
12:10even though we really don't have a whole lot of them.
12:12We really need, I know it's fine to get Superman and your Batmans and stuff like that,
12:16we need definitely to get more villains, Todd McFarlane.
12:19You know, Bizarro, I would more consider him to be a villain than a good guy.
12:24We definitely need to have, especially with Superman,
12:26his rogues list isn't as fun, maybe, as the Caped Crusaders,
12:30but I think there's certainly enough villains out there.
12:33We definitely need more figures to go along with Bizarro.
12:35One thing that also really works for this figure is that the paint application on the figure's face is fantastic.
12:41Bizarro, we can all admit, doesn't really, his elevator doesn't go to the top floor.
12:45He isn't as much of an idiot in the head sculpt.
12:47But one thing that's really good, though, for the figure is his chalk-white exterior is only accented
12:52by these dark gray areas that they've added to the chin, the cheeks, and the top of his forehead.
12:56He is definitely one of the better-looking painted figures that we've gotten.
13:00Not on top of that, though, the figure does also have a wire built into his fabric cape.
13:04You've got to think, though, that if Bizarro was released a couple of years ago,
13:07he probably would still be relegated to the same plastic cape that his original body had as well.
13:13What do you guys think of Bizarro?
13:14Let me know down below in the comments section.
13:16Worth picking up, or do you think he's a pass?
