00:00He may refer to himself as Wii, but he's still sold separately.
00:04Here's your look at the Hasbro. This is the Spider-Man Venom vs. Venom.
00:20In Venom vs., the Marvel superheroes take on alien symbiote powers to battle Venom and his horde of Venomized villains.
00:27This collectible Marvel figure features nine points of articulation, so kids can easily pose their figures for playtime or display.
00:33With the way this guy's built, Brock looks like a block.
00:36Let's take the tape measure now and figure out how tall the Venom vs. Venom stands.
00:40Then, of course, I'll bring in the Spider-Man that we've already had a look at.
00:43Found these at my local Walmart. Well, not my local Walmart. I found these at a Walmart.
00:47And that Walmart was so good, in fact, when it came to the toy selection, I might find myself going back to that Walmart.
00:53Again, I don't know why I'm moving my fingers so much.
00:55Let's move now our fingers to see that Venom is going to stand at four inches in height.
01:00So, yeah, he's going to be a little bit taller than the wall crawler.
01:02That's going to translate, though, to a figure that's ten centimeters tall.
01:06So, while we have here Venom, here's the earlier looked at Peter Parker.
01:09Now, the two figures clearly are different sizes from one another.
01:12I really think, like, the budget went into the plastics of producing Venom.
01:15Not that the Spider-Man isn't bad at all, but I feel like for a nine dollar figure,
01:19for the fact that he has the possibility that he's packing, Venom's a pretty good figure for a pretty decent price.
01:24For that nine dollar something something price.
01:27The figure, you're not just getting it on its own.
01:29No, you're also getting an accessory.
01:31The accessory, though, it's kind of hard to see what exactly it is.
01:34It looks to be, I guess, maybe like an axe.
01:36A hooking weapon, for example.
01:38He can actually hold in two different ways.
01:40Now, he has, like, a wrist clip right here.
01:43If I get the camera to focus on that.
01:45That wrist clip can actually just peg onto his wrist, as basically would be saying in its name.
01:50It's not an easy thing to pull off, though, because you have to kind of find that sweet spot on his wrist.
01:56Clips on, basically, and these will always kind of get in the way.
01:58It might even help just a little bit to separate the two, like squabbling siblings,
02:03and just attach it onto his arm that way.
02:05So, again, he can whoosh, whoosh, whoosh.
02:08He can slash that way.
02:09What I did also do at the beginning of this review is that you can also take the weapon
02:13and kind of hold it more like, kind of like this,
02:16where it looks more like he's kind of got, like, a melee weapon.
02:19Again, it's not the easiest thing to fit in his hand.
02:20It does succeed, though.
02:22It can have venom display light.
02:23It kind of looks like a really gnarly, evil mustache.
02:27I would love to see somebody who has a mustache that looks like this.
02:30I have a mustache that looks like this!
02:31Okay, we'll talk later.
02:33So, it's a pretty cool looking weapon.
02:34I mean, for whatever way you'd like to have it displayed.
02:36It kind of also looks a little bit like a bat wing.
02:39I wish there was a way to actually attach this somewhere in the back of his body, too.
02:42So, you know, if you didn't have a plan to have this displayed in his hand or on his hand,
02:46you could just attach it onto the back,
02:47and he's kind of got, like, this weird-looking, gnarly bat wing.
02:52Moving off to the side, though, let's get a closer look at Venom.
02:55Now, if you had seen my other review of the Venom vs. Spider-Man,
02:59which happened to be, again, this guy right here,
03:01I had picked this guy up.
03:02Not loose.
03:03That would involve thievery.
03:05I did actually have this in my hand at that Walmart.
03:07I thought to myself,
03:07do I really need to spend the $9 and something-something cents in order to get him?
03:11Then when I took this guy off the shelf,
03:13I realized that Venom was behind him.
03:15I'm a sucker when it comes to Venom.
03:18So I think, really, Venom was the one that we can thank
03:20for the reasons why I picked up Peter Parker,
03:22Spider-Man, of course,
03:23and I ended up picking up both of these for, like,
03:25you know, again, a little under $10.
03:26Of course, there's tax on top of that.
03:28If you look at the two, the scaling of the two figures,
03:31even though, realistically, Venom would be a taller character,
03:34just by the stockiness of his build,
03:37it makes him actually look a little under-proportioned.
03:39Spider-Man looks actually fine when you look at the length of his legs,
03:42but there's something, though, about Venom.
03:44Venom's got a really broad upper torso
03:46and these sort of squat, short legs.
03:50By looking at him like this,
03:51it actually kind of reminds me of, like, a mega figure from Lego.
03:55I have a couple of them.
03:56Actually, I do have a Venom.
03:58Obviously, he's going to have a lot more posability
04:00than what you would get with a Lego minifigure,
04:02but I sort of kind of get that vibe when I'm looking at Venom here.
04:05He's very squat, very stocky in the upper build.
04:08Not as stocky, though.
04:09Not as long, though.
04:10Like I said, his lower legs.
04:12The figure does also have pebbles on the bottoms of his feet.
04:15I did say this, though, when we did do the review of Spider-Man,
04:17that you could really, in theory, use yourself a display stand.
04:19I just happen to have some unknown display stand.
04:22It just happens to be advertising another completely different comic company.
04:26But you can use those, and you can just plug them under the bottoms of their feet.
04:28So, you know, again, if you want to get them in a little bit more of an interesting pose,
04:31you just use the display stand from another figure company.
04:34Let's take that off right now.
04:35Head sculpt, though, for Venom is really nice.
04:38The thing I like about it, though, is I'm generally one that likes a Venom without the long tongue.
04:42I always really kind of like Venom where he's just got a big, sinister smile.
04:46Yet, though, this tongue is really selling it for me.
04:49I would worry, though, as a kid, I mean, if you're playing rough in the backyard,
04:52you know, you're throwing your Spider-Man figures around,
04:54I don't know how well that tongue's going to stay in place.
04:56It does look like it's only pegged in.
04:58Likely maybe glued, but it's a nice, long, gummy tongue.
05:03That Tootsie Pop wouldn't stand a chance.
05:05I don't know how many looks it would take to get the center of a Tootsie Pop,
05:08but I think that Venom would have that beat.
05:10He's sort of got also like the 90s Spider-Man animated series vibe.
05:15Obviously, the only thing that's kind of missing here is the highlights,
05:18the blue and the red on either side.
05:19But that's kind of where I'm getting the vibe of Venom here.
05:22Really nice painting on the eyes.
05:24But as well, too, like for his face, like for the little tendon that he has on the sides,
05:28the tongue overall is well painted.
05:30It's a well-painted figure.
05:32And I think really a lot of it, too, is helpful that so much of it is molded in black plastic
05:37that they probably could get away with the budget of painting this guy as well as they do
05:40because you're really only kind of painting the emblem on the front and on the back.
05:43You're painting little, obviously, squares that he has on the sides of his hands.
05:47And then, of course, you're just painting his face.
05:48All the rest of it is really just left behind with the black.
05:51The figure is quite poseable, too.
05:52But before we actually look at that, I do like that they've sculpted also these little
05:55extensions of the symbiote on his shoulders.
05:58He doesn't have it anywhere else, but I don't really think he necessarily needs it either.
06:01The paint for the symbiote is done well.
06:02There's no mishaps happening here.
06:05The part that I would imagine probably would have been the messiest thing to pull off
06:08or probably would have been the messiest of result is just these lines around the sides.
06:12Underneath his Venom armpits would probably be the part where these would be missed the most.
06:17And yet, though, you know, they're actually done pretty good.
06:20Yeah, I'm overall really happy with Venom.
06:21I feel like, again, like his proportions don't quite match with one another.
06:25It almost kind of looks like he's two separate figures kind of just glued together.
06:28But I overall do like the look of this figure.
06:31Now for Venom's posability.
06:33His head's going to be on a ball joint.
06:35You're not going to be able to...
06:36I can't seem to get his head to move as much, though, as I did with the Spider-Man from before.
06:40So I would only really say...
06:42Maybe I'd be willing to sign off that this figure only has a peg joint.
06:45Maybe not a ball joint.
06:46It does kind of move up and down, but not to the point where I feel like it has as much mobility as Spider-Man before.
06:53So like his head's going to rotate all the way around.
06:55His blasted tongue is going to get in the way of things.
06:57Tootsie Pop doesn't stand a chance.
06:59The arms, however, though, rotate all the way around.
07:01You can also bring these arms out at...
07:04Would it be safe to say a T-pose?
07:06It's a little less, actually, than a T-pose.
07:07It's not quite all the way because, obviously, he's got...
07:10These are sculpted on this section right here, not on his shoulders or on the top of his back.
07:15So because of that, they're obviously going to kind of get in the way of things if you're trying to get this guy to get a full 90-degree angle.
07:21I should stop really doing that.
07:22That's going to break that off.
07:23But that 90-degree angle bend, you're probably not going to be able to pull that off.
07:25These, by the way, are softer plastic.
07:27Not that I really would recommend doing what I'm doing right now.
07:30That's eventually going to probably start to develop stress marks.
07:32You're going to get stressed marks.
07:34And, of course, you're probably going to be breaking that off.
07:36So don't do that.
07:38Again, arms rotate all the way around.
07:39There's a single hinge only in the elbow.
07:41But at least, though, the elbow allows the forearm to rotate all the way around.
07:45Like with Spider-Man, though, there's no articulation here for the hand.
07:48The hand is, you know, again, kind of making use of that soft, rubbery plastic.
07:52It's maybe not as noticeable here as Venom.
07:54There's no articulation in the waist.
07:56Spider-Man never had that either.
07:57But, again, like, the fact that he can do what he's doing right now...
08:00Let's get his arms out of the way.
08:01The fact that he can pull off a splits like that, pretty impressive for a figure that's under $10.
08:05The legs go forward.
08:07Again, they stop abruptly at the butt.
08:10You can't do much more than that.
08:12But he does have a knee bend.
08:14The lower legs rotate.
08:15They're a little loose, though, on Venom.
08:16I don't really know why.
08:18Getting this guy immediately out of the packaging, I noticed that he was very loose down below in the lower legs.
08:22Not to the point where I feel like he's going to buckle.
08:24But he shouldn't really be that loose so early on.
08:28By the way, though, again, here's what he looks like with the Venomized Spider-Man.
08:32Now, Spider-Man also came and clipped with a little web bit.
08:35I mean, which, again, looked a little weird that it would be green like this.
08:38But, again, like with Venom, he'd basically clip that onto his wrist like that.
08:42And you could just have it on display.
08:44What's funny, though, is in the advertisement of this line, they talk about Spider-Man and his...
08:49Well, I don't think they actually say friends.
08:51They just say Spider-Man and the rest of the superheroes.
08:53I don't know if they hang out after, you know, saving the world.
08:55Do they just all go hang out getting...
08:58I don't know.
08:58What would they kind of get after the fact?
09:01Gyros?
09:01Gyros?
09:02I think that's what they were...
09:03That was the Avengers, though.
09:04But while they sort of advertise on the packaging that Spider-Man and his superheroes all have to unite to get Venom and his Venomized villains.
09:12It's funny, though, enough, there's no villain at all advertised on the packaging other than just Venom.
09:18Everything else is really advertised.
09:19Like, again, you've got Spider-Gwen, you've got Miles Morales, you've got even an Iron Spider.
09:23Yet Venom, though, unfortunately, just gets nothing when it comes to villainous Venoms.
09:27Venomous, Venomous villains.
09:29So, again, I don't know if we're going to be getting a second wave of these.
09:31I certainly hope that we do.
09:32This line has really quite intrigued me.
09:35For the price that it was, it kind of was the enticing thing that kind of lured me over.
09:39First of all, I saw the Spider-Man.
09:40I thought, hey, that's kind of a cool figure.
09:43Then I saw the price.
09:44$9.00 and something-something cents.
09:45That's not bad at all.
09:47Took the Spider-Man off the shelf.
09:48Sure enough, I saw the Venom behind it.
09:49And Venom really was the thing that kind of said to myself, I do definitely want to get these figures.
09:54By the way, though, I just want to also bring back the packaging.
09:56There's the packaging right there for the Spider-Man.
09:58I've got the Venom just down there.
09:59Just to show you, though, all the other advertised figures on the back, we've got Miles Morales.
10:03Symbiote Spider-Man would be the one I really would like to get my hands on.
10:06But again, like, no Venomized villains to be found, to be seen on the back of the packaging.
10:11Hopefully, though, that's something that's going to change with a future wave from Hasbro.
10:15While we are still chatting Venom, one of the other Venomverse figures I did see at that Walmart was a Venomverse Venomsaurus.
10:21What is a Venomsaurus, you may ask?
10:23Picture a Tyrannosaurus Rex that's been taken over by a symbiote.
10:27It has then basically all the markings of Venom.
10:29It has the big, long tongue and has little squiggly things coming out the top of his back.
10:33Sounds cool, doesn't it?
10:35I don't know how cool it is.
10:36It's $39.97.
10:38It's still under $40.
10:40Do I like Venom, though, enough?
10:41And do I like this line enough to add Venomosaurus to my shopping cart?
10:46I think just so I could actually say that in a review, Venomosaurus.
10:49I might find myself picking it up.
10:50If I go back again to that Walmart, I haven't honestly gone to my local Walmart as of late.
10:55For all I know, though, the Venomverse figures might actually still might be there as well.
11:00But I think for the price of what they're selling these for, I really went in, I got to tell you guys, with very low expectations.
11:07Assuming, though, for an under $10 figure, I was really expecting to get these out of the packaging
11:11and have only just swiveling arms, swiveling legs, and just a swiveling head, and that's it.
11:16I was very surprised, though, to see that the figure does have T-pose options.
11:20Not only for its legs, but also its arms.
11:23Adding then to that, jointed knees and jointed elbows.
11:26You're getting a figure with like nine points of articulation.
11:29Because, again, you've got your head, your shoulders, elbows.
11:32That's what, like five?
11:33Legs, knees.
11:35Yeah, I think that's nine.
11:37Such simple math.
11:38And I was having such a hard time thinking of it.
11:40Venom, though, I really like the look of him.
11:42He's a little on the blockier side, especially for his lower legs.
11:46But I think, though, for the fact he's also bigger than Spider-Man, for a $10 figure,
11:50you can't go wrong with a Venom versus figure like Venom.
11:53I don't know, again, like, would you ever find yourself picking up a Venomsaurus Rex?
11:57Would you guys want to see a review of Venomsaurus Rex?
