00:00QPCC coach David Furlong is constantly busy focusing on how to get the best out of his players.
00:06Having returned to Queen's Park this year after being with Team Red Force earlier,
00:10Furlong felt the season was full of ups and downs.
00:13But he's hoping to see improvements come 2026.
00:16During the season we saw what work that we have to do prior to next year, the 2026 season.
00:24And we'll actually start that next week on sort of skill development with players
00:29and looking at who we have and looking at team make-ups from now till next year
00:35to ensure that we have a better season.
00:37We won the T20, which is good, but the league is always the prestigious one that we're looking to win next year.
00:45And how would you describe that T20 victory, winning that festival?
00:50It was good to be back in Winner's Row.
00:52We didn't win any for the first time in about maybe 10 years or so.
00:56We didn't win any hardware in 2024.
00:59So it would be good to be back winning a title.
01:03The players worked hard for it.
01:05And it was a nice feeling winning something again.
01:10The team was captained by left-handed batsman Darren Bravo,
01:12who made an impact during the T20 festival.
01:15According to Furlong, time will tell if the cricketer from Santa Cruz would be available next season.
01:20Hopefully, yes.
01:21I don't know if anybody has any plans for him.
01:24I know he's back with TKR and CPL this year, but I don't know what plans.
01:29Once he's available, he will play with the team.
01:32And how was the bond like working with Darren?
01:36Well, you know, I've been working with Darren since he was eight years old.
01:40And, you know, so it's not a matter, you know, I work with him in Trinidad and then back here again now.
01:45So that, you know, we have a good relationship.
01:48We work, you know, we work well together.
01:50I think we've gone good.
01:52The club is known for the development of players so they can go on to bigger things.
01:57Speaking of which, Furlong sees a bright future for a couple outstanding players this season.
02:01Yeah, I think, you know, we have young Ramdu here, young Kyle Ramdu.
02:05I think he performed, you know, exceptionally during the season.
02:09You know, there's also a young fast bowler called Aidan Ratcher who quietly, you know, got wickets, you know, two, three wickets every game quietly.
02:18You know, he was hardly noticed until you look at the stats at the end of the season.
02:23You know, so those are two young players, you know, that we're looking at to come on next year.
02:27QPCC, like the other clubs, were denied a shot at the 50-over title since the tournament had to be scrapped because of inclement weather.
02:37Vinod Nawani, Chiefs of Sport.
