00:00The 2026 TTCB two-day Premier League bowls off on Saturday, with teams across the country
00:06making the necessary preparations for it. That includes Queens Park Cricket Club, which
00:10is coached by David Furlong. QPCC take on Merry Boys in their Premier One opener at
00:15Honeymoon Park, and Furlong is optimistic ahead of the new season.
00:19We expect to do good this year. The first time in many years, Queens Park would be putting
00:24out the strongest team, with the availability of all our national players due to the late
00:30start in the regional four-day tournament. So that we expect a good showing, we expect
00:37to do well this season, and we never like to be overconfident. We always like to play each
00:42game on the day, and we will do that, and hopefully we could come out successful this year.
00:49At the same time, Furlong has utmost respect for every opponent. That includes Merry Boys,
00:54who don't have access to their home in Diogomarton this year, resulting in the game taking place
00:58in the East.
00:59I believe all the teams will be strengthened this year, again by the inclusion of the
01:06national players, the French players, so that I think all the games will be competitive.
01:13Honeymoon Park, we haven't played up there in probably ten or more years now, so that we
01:19don't know what's happening. You know, the weather yesterday is a little concerning. But
01:24hopefully we get good weather, and again put up a good showing and give our best in that
01:30game.
01:31The squad is led by the experienced Joshua De Silva, who played 33 test matches for the
01:36Westernese. Also part of the squad is left-handed batsman Darren Bravo, who has the function
01:41of player coach this season. Others include, we have Joshua De Silva who is here, we have
01:48Yannick Karaya, we have Brian Charles, we have Thion Webster, we have Jed Gulli here. Hopefully
01:57the second round game, you know, we'll be joined by some other senior players. We have
02:04some other youngsters, we have Joshua Davis, Kyle Ramdo, we have Mikael Govaya who has come
02:09back to the club. And we have a new sign-in, two new sign-ins in Abdul Rahim Toppin and Stefan
02:19McPherson, two young fast bowlers who will be on show in the first game against Mary Boys.
02:25Other matches taking place this weekend are Prisal against Powajan at Inshanali Park, Victoria
02:30United versus KFC Clock Road in Barakpur, and Central Sports, who have now combined with Yorkshire,
02:37taking on Marchant Patriots in Kunjal. That means prisons are on a bye.
02:42Vinwood, now I need to use export.
