AMCHAM has officially launched the T&T and Republic Bank Tech Hub Island Summit 2025.

AMCHAM says the upcoming conference will seek to the push the country to accelerate digital transformation.

00:00Amcham's Tech Island Summit is intended to be an avenue for accelerated digital transformation
00:06through exploration of innovation and existing opportunities.
00:11According to CEO of Amcham, Nirad Tiwari, it is important that TNT cements itself in the global tech value chain.
00:19He says not only would the country benefit from better service to consumers and growth in exports,
00:24but it would also create more jobs.
00:26Tiwari says if used correctly, technology can improve our lives and enhance government services.
00:33And the team for this year's conference is Engage, Execute and Evolve.
00:38We have to widen the tax net and we have to do that by using technology to identify the leakage,
00:47but also to make it easier to be voluntarily compliant because voluntary compliance drives up revenue collection significantly.
00:55And you'll probably have heard me say this before if you've heard me speak on this,
01:01but a simple, simple thing like using the GIS data that is available, overlaying it with businesses, taxpayers,
01:12and seeing where the gaps are would allow for significant expansion of the tax net
01:18and significant revenue collection immediately.
01:22Republic Bank is a title sponsor of the event and its Vice President Richard Sami calls the summit
01:28a nation-building initiative as it will define what the region becomes and what future generations inherit.
01:35I also applaud Amtram for this year's theme of Engage, Execute and Evolve.
01:43Because rarely in an era defined by relentless technological development and advancement,
01:50one, how strongly we engage with both digital possibilities and people will be crucial,
01:57two, how we strategically execute that transformation,

02:16Dominic Smith says his ministry's goal is simple, to make TNT a digitally empowered nation.
02:23MP and AI operates at the intersection of innovation and public service.
02:30Our mandate is clear to modernize the public sector, spearhead digital transformation across all government,
02:39and integrate emerging technologies, and in particular artificial intelligence, into our national development agenda.
