00:00Los Angeles Lakers trying to offer a lot of money to Austin Reeves but he declined his four-year
00:0690 million dollar max extension offer from the lake and you like we don't live the same lives
00:11as pro athletes do and we can't project like I'm just going to hold out for a little bit more but
00:15if you sign on the dotted line for four years Joe and your career stinks you got 90 million
00:19guaranteed dollars in your bank account even after all you've already made in the NBA with
00:24on the court off the court endorsements and what have you but he's banking on himself which means
00:29if he does not take this max extension and waits to free agency it could be as high as 245 million
00:37dollars so for the Lakers saying please sign with us it's going to save us money and Austin Reeves going
00:42I'm trusting myself and I think I'm worth way more than that I'll wait one year yeah and listen I
00:49already heard you you're worth 10 billion Lakers so I'm gonna hold out a year and by the way I mean
00:55he's he's 26 27 years old he's got one year remaining on the current deal and listen why
01:02settle Donnie I mean in one year from now if he continues to evolve and there's no reason to think
01:08he won't you know I mean 90 million is great 245 million is much better at 28 years old and he's
01:17more than capable of doing that so yes by the way 20 points he averaged last year close to six assists
01:22per game four and a half rebounds per game shot 38 from three-point range he is a key contributor
01:27for the Los Angeles Lakers but can you imagine though like when you trust yourself which is what
01:32you're supposed to do like Kirk Cousins did that every year I don't want a long-term deal every year
01:36my money's gonna go higher and higher and higher and it worked out absolutely perfect to him but
01:41sometimes you take a look at like 90 million dollars no like you can't probably spend that in a
01:46lifetime now granted you play in California they probably take 75 percent of it right away for you
01:50so maybe he's like hey you know what that 245 and for the Miami Heat might look pretty good if I'm a
01:54free agent at that point does make some sense but can you imagine Joe turning down 90 million because
01:59you want to wait it's like that's 90 million dollars it's a lot of money but it's also the NBA
02:05and we know regardless he's gonna be worth more maybe not a max deal you know but he's gonna be worth
02:13more than 90 million in 12 months
