01:46good evening we begin tonight here with the breaking news president trump in the situation room late today
01:51with his national security team for a second day in a row now meeting on iran and tonight a source now
01:56telling abc news the president is getting comfortable with the idea of the u.s striking iran's key nuclear
02:02facility called fordo 300 feet deep under a mountain the president has not given the final okay and of
02:09course it comes as the world watches and wonders will the u.s strike iran now in the oval office today the
02:14president saying he is not looking to fight but that quote iran cannot have a nuclear weapon saying if it's a
02:19choice between fighting and them having a nuclear weapon you have to do what you have to do now if
02:25the president gives the order for the u.s striking iran's key nuclear facility deep in that mountain
02:30fordo what would this entail martha raddatz standing by with what she's learned tonight and abc's chief
02:36white house correspondent mary bruce leading us off she's at the white house tonight president trump
02:41gathering his national security team in the situation room for the second day in a row a source familiar
02:46with the intelligence tells our martha raddatz they think trump is getting comfortable with the idea
02:51of the u.s striking iran's key nuclear facility called fordo buried 300 feet deep under a mountain
02:58separately sources tell abc news that the president told top advisors he approved of attack plans for
03:03iran but has not yet decided whether to put them into effect i may do it i may not do it i mean nobody
03:10knows what i'm going to do i can tell you this that uh iran's got a lot of trouble
03:15it comes as israel intensifies its attacks on iran a massive plume of smoke billowing near tehran
03:24the idf saying it struck at least 60 targets today including nuclear facilities missile manufacturing
03:30sites and military bases trump has demanded iran's unconditional surrender but tonight the country's
03:37supreme leader defiant
03:38surrender to what the ayatollah said the iranian nation cannot be surrendered we will not accept
03:47any kind of submission
03:48and then this warning to the united states the damage america will suffer if it makes a military
03:57intervention in this field will undoubtedly be irreparable the tucker carlson expert on iran
04:03tonight the president's own party torn on what to do a division on full display in this clash between
04:10texas senator ted cruz who supports the strike and tucker carlson who doesn't want america to get
04:16involved how many people living around by the way i don't know the population at all no i don't know
04:21the population you don't know the population of the country you seek to topple how many people
04:28living around 92 million okay yeah how could you not know that i i don't sit around memorizing
04:35population tables well it's kind of relevant because you're calling for the overthrow of the
04:39government the president today asked for his message to americans worried about the u.s getting
04:44involved in another conflict in the middle east after what they witnessed in iraq and afghanistan
04:49well i don't want to get involved either but i've been saying for 20 years maybe longer that iran
04:54cannot have a nuclear weapon i've been saying it for a long time and i think they were a few weeks
04:59away from having one iran can't have a nuclear weapon too much devastation and they'd use it you
05:06know i believe they'd use it others won't use it but i believe they'd use it the big decision
05:11facing trump tonight whether to drop a 30 000 pound bomb the largest in america's arsenal on that
05:17iranian nuclear facility buried 300 feet under that mountain the president who in his last term
05:23ended the nuclear deal with iran that allowed in nuclear inspectors has been urging iran to
05:28negotiate an end to its nuclear program tonight he says he still hasn't made up his mind on whether
05:34the u.s military should enter the conflict i have ideas as to what to do but i haven't made a final i
05:41like to make the final decision one second before it's due you know because things change i mean
05:45especially with war now the president is still holding out hope for negotiations to end iran's
05:51nuclear program but again we've learned that the president has approved of attack plans that have
05:56been presented to him the bottom line tonight david president trump has not made any final decision
06:02on whether the u.s will strike iran david yes appearing to approve the plan but not giving the
06:07order a big distinction here mary bruce leading us off mary thank you let's get right to our chief
06:11global affairs correspondent martha raditz martha this is your reporting late today
06:15president trump growing more comfortable according to your source with the idea of striking iran's key
06:20nuclear facility deep in that mountain fordo you and i have reported from iran what would this entail
06:25how significant would this be with the u.s getting involved potentially at this level well david i'm
06:31told that if that final order is given from president trump this would not be a single strike on the
06:37fordo facility it would be a series of strikes with 30 000 pound penetrator bombs from b2 stealth bombers
06:44this comes as the israelis have discovered additional air defenses in iran they had thought
06:50as of yesterday they had taken them all out but discovered that there are more so that adds an
06:56element of danger president trump has also been briefed on security at u.s bases in the region those
07:0240 000 american troops who would be vulnerable if the u.s carries out the strike on fordo and iran
07:09retaliates david yes significant concern for the tens of thousands of troops in the region
07:14martha raditz with us tonight as well martha thank you in the meantime we turn to the other news
07:18tonight the murder trial watched by the nation tonight a jury finding karen reed not guilty of
07:23killing her boston police officer boyfriend loud cheers as karen reed left the courthouse today
07:28stepping up to a microphone what she had to say with supporters there hundreds of them filling the
07:33streets outside the courthouse look at the images there jubilant at hearing the verdict in a
07:37community divided by this case matt guppin was right there at the courthouse tonight that stunning
07:43verdict not guilty a massachusetts jury finding karen reed not guilty of second degree murder of
07:49manslaughter and of leaving the scene in the death of her boyfriend boston police officer john o'keefe
07:55what say is the defendant at the bar not guilty or guilty not guilty
07:59as word of the verdict reached reed supporters outside the courtroom the cheers were so loud
08:07you could hear it inside the courtroom the former adjunct professor was found guilty of a single
08:15lesser charge of drunk driving and sentenced to a year of probation right now you can hear the cheers
08:22of the crowd right there alan jackson karen reed in that light blue suit emerging from the courthouse
08:29rethinking that throng of supporters in a sea of pink her favorite color i could not be standing here
08:35without these amazing supporters who have supported me and my team financially and more importantly
08:43emotionally for almost four years and the second thing i want to say is no one has fought carter
08:50for justice for john o'keefe than i have than i have and my team prosecutors argued it was a cut and
08:59dried case saying reed had rammed her suv into o'keefe after a night of drinking and left him to die in a
09:05blizzard outside a party that included other law enforcement she was drunk she hit him and she left
09:14him to die and they tried using reed's own words from tv interviews against her when you walked out of
09:20the bar how many drinks had you had i had probably about four but the defense arguing reed's car never
09:29struck o'keefe there was no collision there was no collision there was no collision suggesting a much
09:39more sinister scenario alleging that o'keefe was attacked dragged outside into the blizzard to die
09:44and at some point bitten by the family dog just look at john's arm these are dog bites and scratches
09:51the case dividing the community pitting neighbor against neighbor about that alleged police cover-up
09:57and at the center of the controversy lead investigator state trooper michael proctor who'd sent vulgar text
10:04messages about karen reed just hours after he got the case and was later fired after that first trial
10:10the defense argued the investigation was biased from the start it was corrupted by a lead investigator
10:16whose misconduct infected every single part of this case from the top to the bottom about the case
10:23an allegation proctor vehemently denies in a new exclusive interview with 2020 did you plant evidence
10:29absolutely not and i'm laughing because it's such a ridiculous um accusation it's something i would
10:36have i would never do i've never done you know most people and there's no evidence of it we're talking
10:41about people in your community your neighbors who believe it this is not strangers this is people
10:48in canton why do you think that is that's just the loud minority the the silent majority have we've had
10:55an overwhelming amount of support they're just not out there tweeting david of course karen reed convicted
11:01on that lesser charge of oui basically driving under the influence and sentenced to a year of probation
11:07but she is not out of the legal woods yet the family of john o'keefe filing a wrongful death civil suit
11:13against her and i spoke to them earlier today they say that they are resilient and they'll keep fighting
11:19david matt gutman right there in denim tonight matt thank you and this evening matt will have much more

14:31citing evolving science and profound implications rejecting the argument that denying trans kids
14:37access to puberty blockers and hormone therapy amounts to sex discrimination roberts writing the
14:43issue should be left to the people their elected representatives in the democratic process justice
14:48sonia sotomayor joined by liberal justices kagan and jackson dissented in sadness writing the court's
14:54decision inflicts untold harm to transgender children and the parents and families who love them what they're
15:00saying is that trans people do not fall within the sex discrimination classification that you can
15:08legally discriminate against trans people the sponsor of the tennessee ban praising the court's decision
15:13the court affirmed what we believe and that is the states do have a compelling interest to protect kids
15:19i won't say i'm optimistic lw a trans teen who brought the case and asked us not to show her face
15:25told us last year she'll keep pursuing the treatments in another state because they changed her life i think
15:30really the big difference was when i got on hormones that was incredibly helpful david an estimated 100
15:38000 transgender teens and their families live in states where those treatments are banned but today's
