15 June - National weather forecast presented by Jonathan Vautrey.
Transcript
00:00Hello there, a very good afternoon to you. As we head over the next few days, many of us will be
00:05seeing fine and dry conditions overall, and that's all courtesy of an area of high pressure that's
00:10going to be building in from the Azores and gradually stretching its way towards the UK.
00:15Before it properly reaches us though, there are a few weather fronts just moving across
00:19the northern edge of this system, including this one that's moved into the northwest of the UK
00:24to start off Sunday morning. It's been providing some fairly light outbreaks of rain. Those
00:29outbreaks will continue to move their way south and eastwards during today, so spreading
00:34across more areas of Scotland, northern England, and into parts of Wales as well. Can't rule
00:38out the odd sharp shower for some central southeastern areas of England, but generally it's the
00:42southeastern quadrant of the UK that will hold on to the best of the sunshine throughout this
00:47afternoon. It's a little less humid compared to some recent days, but still pleasantly warm
00:51in that sunshine high to 24 degrees Celsius, more around the high teens where we hold on
00:56to the clouds towards the north and the west. For Northern Ireland, England, and Wales though,
01:01any of these light outbreaks of rain in drizzle will tend to peter out this evening, and the
01:05night will then remain largely dry with some clear spells, a few mist and fog patches in places.
01:10For Western Scotland though, we're going to be seeing more rain arrive into the second half
01:14of the night, and that could start to turn heavy over the hills, with quite a brisk breeze
01:18developing around the coast and the mountains as well. For all of us though, it should be a pretty
01:23mild night, temperatures holding up around 11 to 15 degrees Celsius.
01:28So as we move into the new working week, it is Northern and Western Scotland that will start off
01:33the wettest. The heaviest of the rain first thing in the morning, it will tend to ease off as we head
01:37throughout the day, but those outbreaks could be on and off for some throughout Monday. Quite a lot of
01:42cloud for particularly Western areas of Northern Ireland, parts of County Down probably seeing the
01:45best of the sunshine here, but for England and Wales there'll be plentiful amounts of sunshine
01:49right throughout Monday. A little bit of fair weather, cloud bubbling up, quite hazy perhaps
01:53for some southern counties of England, but otherwise temperatures will be up by a good few degrees
01:59compared to today, and we'll start to see highs around the mid-20s, 26 degrees Celsius possible
02:04for some eastern areas of England. We're also now more confidently stretching into that 20 degree
02:09threshold mark for Northern Ireland and parts of Eastern Scotland as well. Still holding around the
02:15mid-teens for Northwestern Scotland where we see that cloud and rain continuing to move its way
02:20through, and the winds will strengthen even further as we head into Monday evening and overnight,
02:24potentially reaching gale force strength for a time. This is when our next weather front is going
02:29to start pushing its way in, so still a little bit of that rain and cloud lingering first thing on
02:34Tuesday, but otherwise from midweek onwards this is when we really start to see that high pressure
02:38building in more confidently across the UK, and so the fine and settled conditions should begin to
02:44stretch to all of us, and the temperatures will also continue to climb. But we'll have plenty more
02:49updates on all of that across YouTube and our social media channels, so do subscribe,
02:54and we'll see you again later on. Enjoy the rest of your day. Bye-bye.
