Cricket analyst Colin Murray is not pleased with the 16-man West Indies squad chosen for the Test series against Australia.

Murray questions the omission of Joshua Da Silva and Amir Jangoo, plus he's puzzled as to why a younger player was not chosen as vice-captain.

00:01The West Indies are getting ready for a tough test series against Australia with
00:05the opening match bowling off on June 25th in Barbados. The men in Maroon have
00:09not won a series against the Aussies in over three decades with 2024 producing
00:15a 1-1 result down under. According to cricket analyst Colin Murray it's
00:20advantage Australia in the Caribbean. If you prepare a quick pitch they've got
00:25fast bowlers, we've got fast bowlers. If you prepare a spinning pitch they've got
00:29Nathan Lyon, they've got the off spinner head, you know he can toss down a few so
00:37it's going to be a tough series. It's going to be a very very tough series. You
00:42know I would hate to say that I can't see us winning a game. The 16-man squad is
00:50captained by Ruston Chase who last played a test in March 2023. His deputy is Jamel
00:56Warrickon who has 19 test caps since his debut in 2015. So what does Murray think
01:03about the appointment of the duo? You know and then Ruston Chase, you've brought in
01:07Ruston Chase as, you have 233 year olds as a captain and vice captain in Chase and
01:12Warrickon. Where's the future? You know is there nobody else, no younger man that you
01:16could bring in as vice captain or something like that? So when Chase and these guys go
01:21out you know you have the opportunity to do that. So it's it's to me it's been it's
01:27been a crazy selection. Murray is baffled following the exclusion of keeper batter
01:32Joshua De Silva who made three centuries during this year's regional 40 tournament.
01:36De Silva also led the TNT legions to the inaugural CWI breakout league title. Talking about the
01:43wiki keeper somebody needs to explain to me what has happened to Joshua De Silva. He had a fantastic
01:48regional series. Now we can't even get into a West Indy squad. He was named vice captain
01:53for Pakistan and all of a sudden Joshua De Silva is nowhere around. Can somebody explain
01:59that? I mean well you know who I'm talking about somebody. We have a lone selector in Darren
02:04Sami. If you don't like him then say it. Come out and say that you know his style of play
02:10doesn't suit your team or something like that. And what about Amir Jango? While he did not
02:17have a good ODI series against Ireland and England he only has one test to his name. In that match
02:24the 27 year old scored a series leveling 30 in the second innings against Pakistan in Multan.
02:30I suppose they're going on his form but they're going on his form in the white ball in the white
02:34ball format. He as you rightly said he played a test match didn't do badly it was a difficult baptism
02:41for him in Pakistan. The ball was turning square. In the second innings he batted pretty well.
02:47He stood up and he negated the spin for a long while. I think he got 30 odd. If you're looking
02:53at continuity then you must have been thinking about Jango. Murray expects the Windies to be
03:00whitewashed 3-0. But he feels there's only one way to prevent that from happening. The only thing I can see
03:07that can save us is if the pitches are docile and meaning back in paradises over the five days.
03:16After the Bridgetown test the teams then head to Grenada for game two and Jamaica for the final
03:22match that being a pink ball of fear.
03:25When you look at the 90T for export.
