00:00So it appears that Brian Mbwemo has decided to move to Manchester United this summer rather than Newcastle United.
00:06Now the Magpies were of course interested in the Brentford man as were Arsenal and Tottenham but he's instead opted to go to Old Trafford this summer.
00:14It's a move that on paper seems surprising. Obviously Manchester United, no European football of any sort, certainly no Champions League financial situation.
00:23We all know their cost-cutting measures but of course they are still Manchester United, a big massive club and what else Newcastle can offer a Champions League football and a good project?
00:32Also Tottenham can offer the same and they can also offer being in London.
00:37Clearly Mbwemo wants to move to Manchester United and you know from a fan's point of view of course it's disappointing to miss out on Mbwemo and Newcastle will be disappointed to miss out on him.
00:47But the only really one players who want to be in Newcastle, if a player doesn't want to be there then they won't make a move for him.
00:54So as much as missing out on Mbwemo's transfer might feel disappointing now, obviously it should all work out good in the long run.
01:03You know they'll have a list of targets, I'm sure they will, they definitely will have a list of targets for that right wing place.
01:08Mbwemo would have been a perfect option on there, you know left-footed, seems to suit Eddie Howe's hard-working style of play.
01:15They got loads of Premier League goals last year, would be able to hit the ground running.
01:18But there'll be other targets for that right wing position that they'll go for.
01:23And yeah, who that will be, we don't know right now.
01:26I think Newcastle have operated best in the transfer market when they've kept all their transfer business in-house.
01:33You know, players like Sandor Tonali came out of nowhere, Alexander Isak really, same with Bruno Guimaraes.
01:39So all these players have been linked but never really thought of as, you know, likely transfers until it happened, until they managed to do that.
01:46And I think Newcastle will do that this summer as well.
01:48They always have a policy, if a right player comes up at the right price, it will go for them.
01:52Their PSR constraints mean they're less shackled that have been in the last couple of seasons, especially the last three transfer windows.
01:58So if a right player comes up, they will go for them.
02:01But obviously, you've got to, in this modern market, this modern transfer market, the levels they're competing at Newcastle right now is they're going to be competing with some of the world's best clubs.
02:10Even if Manchester United are in 16th and not got any Champions League football, they're still one of the biggest clubs in the world and can pay big money to players.
02:20Newcastle probably can't pay just as big money to players.
02:23And I think that's a good, they need, every good club works well in an organised wage structure.
02:28Obviously, Manchester United's financial issues, you know, have sort of contributed to their downfall recently and maybe that might backfire with Embuermo.
02:37But right now, it appears they've got that sort of deal on there, certainly frontrunners for that deal.
02:42As I said Newcastle tonight, we'll look at other targets.
02:44Magnus Akluj from Monaco has been mentioned.
02:48Anthony Alanga, sort of, Lynx refused to go away.
02:51So, these are players that could be there, but as I said, there still might be names we even haven't heard of yet.
02:57So, yeah, certainly want to watch out.
02:58And definitely, I would say, definitely don't panic.
03:02You know, the transfer window has opened, has opened, and it's open for sort of 10 days in this little burst.
03:09Then it'll be shut for just less than a week.
03:10Then it'll open again in September.
03:11Newcastle United don't kick a ball of any kind till July.
03:14They don't kick a competitive ball till August.
03:16So, there's no real need to panic too much of transfers.
03:20Of course, Liverpool are getting their business done early.
03:24Chelsea have got some signings.
03:25Man City and, of course, Manchester United now.
03:27But I think, you know, Newcastle will be the best place to judge Newcastle is when they kick off on the first day of the season in August.
03:33Or the very worst when they kick off in pre-season.
03:35We know what their squad is looking like at that moment.
03:39Of course, June 30th, their line is going to be massive as well.
03:42We saw that last year with Newcastle.
03:43So, the opposite hand to sell, then there'll be other potentially teams in the Premier League starting to scramble around.
03:49And that may be where Newcastle will find some value for money if they can get at the end of June and start picking off players because teams are in desperate situations.
03:55So, that could be one to watch.
03:57But, yeah, as I started this video with, Newcastle-Henrich have missed out on Brian O'Brien's signature.
04:01Fans will, of course, be upset.
04:03And I think that it's going to be one that's going to probably follow Newcastle United around all summer.
04:08Players have been linked and go elsewhere.
04:10But, yeah, there'll be other rides.
04:11They've got other rides on the fire.
04:12They've got other targets.
04:13And I'm sure that whoever Newcastle United is ultimately up for will be the best for the club.
04:18And, yeah, of course, the best way you can see, obviously, with all the latest Newcastle United transfer news this summer is with the Shields Gazette.
