00:00So, after a chaotic week at Newcastle United, it's finally good to have some football back to talk about on Monday night.
00:06And, of course, it is that huge clash against Liverpool.
00:09Now, we all know what's happened throughout the summer with Liverpool and Newcastle United and Alexander Rezac, that whole situation.
00:16And, you know, Newcastle Liverpool games are always hotly anticipated.
00:19I'm not going to mention the 4-3s. I wasn't alive. I can't comment on them.
00:22But everyone gets up for these games.
00:24Last year, there were two of them were memorable for Newcastle United fans.
00:28Maybe not the other league game.
00:30But, yeah, everything that's gone on this summer is just going to be at St James' Park, hopefully, at its very best on Monday night.
00:36You know, there's been lots of complaints in recent seasons about the atmosphere in games when maybe, you know, 3 o'clock Saturday games against lower teams.
00:46And when fans aren't really afraid, it can't be quiet, but none of that should happen on Monday.
00:51We're thinking it should be like it was against PSG back in the day, a couple of the other big games.
00:56It's the anniversary of that Manchester City 3-3, if you remember that game.
00:59That was a fantastic game and a fantastic atmosphere.
01:02And hopefully we can get back to something like that on Saturday, sorry, Monday, because it's going to be electric.
01:07You know, there's no love lost between the two sets of fans.
01:10You can talk about match-going fans, the social media fans, are they the same?
01:15Are they different? You know, it's irrelevant.
01:17It's Newcastle v Liverpool and everything that's happening this summer is going to be an electric atmosphere.
01:22And I am excited for it as a journalist and all of my colleagues are, and I'm sure you are at home if you're lucky enough to be in St. James Park.
01:28And if you're not in St. James Park, I'm sure you'll be watching on TV.
01:32Yeah, what Eddie Howe does, I'll admit, I've got no idea.
01:36I think none of us saw the tactics he went with for the Carabao Cup final.
01:42You know, that energy, that game, you'll have probably re-watched it a couple of times.
01:46I've certainly re-watched it a couple of times.
01:47And the energy you guys have showed that game was immense.
01:50It was unbelievable.
01:51So, to have, whether he goes with that tactics again, whether he rolls back a little bit, whether he even goes five at the back,
01:56maybe he might even go, you know, you've got Malik Chow and Sven Botman champing at the bit to get in.
02:02So, yeah, it's going to be lots of interesting things for how to pick from.
02:04Of course, he won't have, he's that.
02:06That's disappointing.
02:07Disappointing from Newcastle's point of view.
02:09They want their main man.
02:10You know, it's a big advantage for Liverpool.
02:12So, at Villa Park last week, Anthony Gordon is a, you know, a decent striker.
02:17He offers something, but he's much better offering that on the left wing.
02:20And between the three of them, if you include Harvey Barnes and Anthony Langer,
02:23none of them have really got the finishers touch, although Harvey Barnes has shown in the past he could do that.
02:28And especially against the Liverpool defensive in the last couple of games against Crystal Palace and the Community Shield.
02:32And Bournemouth last week have shown, you know, nerves at the back and you feel like you can't get at them.
02:37And so, it's a real shame he's that can't play because he's had Van Dijk on toast the last couple of times he's played against them.
02:42But, forget about him.
02:43It's all about the 11 players that will be on the pitch for Newcastle on Monday.
02:46And, as I said, yeah, it's going to be an electric atmosphere.
02:49Liverpool won't want to be coming to Newcastle.
02:51You know, you can talk about Liverpool having played in all these massive big European games.
02:55They're used to the big occasion.
02:56And, of course, they are.
02:57And it's not going to be easy for Newcastle.
02:59You know, that's just not going to happen.
03:00But Liverpool won't want this game now.
03:02And I think that's the best thing you can say about Newcastle right now is that is probably the last game
03:07Liverpool want to play.
03:08So, Newcastle really get on top.
03:09Use the fans to their advantage.
03:11Really get physical with Liverpool.
03:13Put them under pressure.
03:14Don't stand off and, you know, give them too much respect.
03:17Show them respect.
03:18Of course, they're one of the best teams in the world.
03:20But really have a go at them.
03:22And Newcastle, hopefully, will be able to show something that they'll be able to end their long Premier League drought against Liverpool.
03:30Of course, they won against the Carabao Cup in March.
03:32But the last Premier League win was back in 2015.
03:35Steve McLaren's manager, Jeannie Wijnaldum, scored the goal.
03:38So, that shows you how long it's been since Newcastle United's last Premier League win against Liverpool.
03:42So, yeah, it's going to be an unbelievable atmosphere on Monday night.
03:46Really hoping that people leave that game like they did against PSG.
03:50You know, talking about that's one of the great St. James' Park atmospheres.
03:53And hopefully Newcastle United can leave with three points because their point at Villa Park was a really good start.
03:57And with Leeds to come before the international break, they really won't end this sort of mini start of the season.
04:05These three games with a win.
04:06If they do that against Liverpool, you know, that just sets them up to hopefully have a really good end to the transfer window as well.
04:10Of course, what they do on the pitch won't have any effects on that.
04:13But it will just lift the mood.
04:16And hopefully by the time the end of the transfer window comes, they've got the striker through the door.
04:20They've resolved the exact situation one way or another.
04:25And, yeah, Eddie Howe can really concentrate on getting this group of players who showed against Villa Park,
04:29at Villa Park, and hopefully will show against Liverpool on Saturday,
04:32that they're ready to, you know, blood, sweat and tears for the shirt.
04:35And hopefully we can start building on that and leave this transfer window behind us.
04:39But that all sort of becomes a moot point between now and Monday because, yeah, it's just all about that game.
04:44And, of course, the best way you can stay up to date with everything that happens on Monday night.
04:47Between now and then, on Monday night, and all the reaction and everything afterwards is with the Shield Gazette.
