Opposition Leader Pennelope Beckles extends Indian Arrival Day greetings with a clarion call for citizens to work together to overcome adversities.  Meanwhile, the Congress of the People, which forms part of the UNC's coalition of interest also conveyed  greetings to the nation and those it describes as the proud descendants of East Indian heritage in Trinidad & Tobago. 00:00In extending Indian Arrival Day greetings, Mrs Penelope Beckles-Robinson says

00:05the cultural products brought by indentured labourers such as music, dance, food and festivals

00:13have been etched in history and continue to play a pivotal role in our society.

00:18She further states that on this auspicious occasion of Indian Arrival Day 2025,

00:25she encourages all to embody the resilience of the indentured labourers

00:29who settled and built their lives in Trinidad and Tobago.

00:33She says we must be our brothers and sisters keepers,

00:37firm in the conviction to play our part in being on the right side of history.

00:42Mrs Beckles-Robinson calls the population to commit to being bold, resilient and collaborative

00:48just as the indentured labourers will on their journey weathering their challenges in a new land.

00:55And the Congress of the People says it is with unwavering commitment the early arrivals carried forward

01:02their rich cultural and religious practices, instilling principles of sacrifice, education

01:08and respect for elders, values that remain pillars in many households today.

01:14Adding that as a nation that thrives on diversity, the Congress of the People proudly stands in recognition

01:21of the immense contributions of the East Indian community.

01:26The statement adds,

01:27Our rainbow of ethnic identities in the COP movement joins together

01:31to extend heartfelt wishes for a joyous and meaningful Indian Arrival Day.
