02:45It is symbolic because of the mutually beneficial cooperation

04:38for the man who ushered democracy in Cameroon,
04:42embodied in his everlasting publication,
04:45communal liberalism best symbolized
04:47by the plus-30 years old liberty laws,
04:50which brought in a charter of liberty in Cameroon.
04:54This creates the national discourse,
04:56which creates a sense of belonging to one another,
04:58but all that in the manner of presenting being a nation-state.
05:01Of course, we have what follows after,
05:03the laws of 1990 on the liberties of association.
05:05Today's christening of the People's House
05:09to bear the name of the current president

05:14to tell the future ones that this is the first edifice
05:18that Paul Bia accepted to be tagged with his name
05:21ever since he came to power,
05:2343 years on, non-stop.

19:43On our ICT page
19:44today, we take a
19:45look at Tress
19:46Cancer, a digital
19:47tool that helps
19:48doctors detect
19:49cancer by simply
19:50uploading medical
19:51images developed by
19:53a young Cameroonian
19:54IT expert,
19:55Peret Tatap.
19:56The innovation
19:57offers new hope
19:58for faster and
19:59more accurate
20:00diagnosis, paving
20:01the way for better
20:02treatment and
20:02management.
20:04Emanuela Shifuya
20:04has the details.
20:07Early detection, a
20:09key to successful
20:10cancer treatment
20:11research shows
20:12advances in medical
20:14technology such as
20:16the Trace Cancer
20:17application are
20:18enhancing cancer
20:19detection and
20:20reducing the risk
20:21of erroneous
20:22diagnosis.
20:23Trace Cancer is
20:24about the detection
20:25of breast cancer
20:26using artificial
20:27intelligence.
20:28It's a web
20:28application in which
20:30the medical doctor
20:31will simply have to
20:32upload the
20:33microscopic image
20:34application of our
20:35application and our
20:36application will be
20:37able to do with
20:38precision the detection
20:39and the diagnosis of
20:40the breast cancer and
20:41the accuracy of our
20:42solution is at least
20:4497%, meaning that
20:45the chances of error
20:47are very, very
20:48reduced.
20:49Using specific medical
20:51images to assist in
20:52diagnosis, the
20:53developer reiterates the
20:55application is reserved
20:56for medical
20:57practitioners to ensure
20:58secure and accurate
21:00use.
21:01The founder is not a
21:27medical doctor but he
21:28assures the application
21:29was created in
21:30collaboration with
21:31medical experts to
21:32guarantee its
21:33reliability and
21:34effectiveness in
21:35cancer detection.
21:38Members of the
21:39Doctors Association,
21:40that is of the
21:4124th badge of the
21:42Faculty of Medicine
21:43and Biomedical
21:44Sciences of the
21:45University of Yom,
21:46the one have donated
21:47vital hygiene and
21:48sanitation supplies to
21:50the Alma Mater.
21:51The symbolic gesture
21:52underscores the
21:53university's lasting
21:54impact on its alumni.
21:56The ceremony took
21:57place at the
21:58Faculty's Courtyard
21:59in Giaonde, as you
22:00report, Delphine
22:01Quantua.
22:0326 years after
22:05walking the halls as
22:06medical students,
22:08alumni of the 24th
22:09badge of the Faculty of
22:10Medicine and Biomedical
22:12Sciences have returned
22:13to show their deep
22:14appreciation to the
22:15institution that shaped
22:17them.
22:17We thought it
22:18necessary to give
22:19back to the faculty
22:21that gave us all the
22:22knowledge, that gave us
22:24all the opportunity to be
22:25what we are today.
22:27And in this way, we
22:29started with this
22:29symbolic gift to the
22:30faculty and we talked
22:32about it and we said,
22:33okay, it might be just
22:35being little, let's start
22:37with something to cater
22:38for sanitation.
22:39Members of the
22:40Doctors Association of
22:41the 24th batch of the
22:42University of Yom,
22:44the one donated the
22:45hygiene and sanitation
22:46equipment to support the
22:48faculty standards.
22:49The current
22:50administration
22:51gratefully received
22:52the contribution,
22:54the gesture, not
22:55only reflects their
22:56lasting gratitude, but
22:58also strengthens the
22:59legacy of excellence at
23:00the faculty.
23:03Cameroon's Minister of
23:04External Relations,
23:05Mbella Mbella, has
23:06signed a condolence book
23:08for the late Pope
23:08Francis, where he
23:10described the Holy
23:10Father as a man of God
23:12who had Cameroon at
23:13heart, always praying for
23:14the country.
23:15The minister was among
23:16many cabinet members who
23:18signed a document today
23:19at the apostolic
23:20nuncio.
23:21Charles Ebune was there
23:22and brought back this
23:23report.
23:26Thursday, April 24,
23:28this year, the Pope's
23:29official residence in
23:31Yaounde, Cameroon.
23:32Time for condolence
23:33messages following the
23:34death of His Holiness,
23:36Pope Francis.
23:37Amongst the
23:38personalities here at
23:39denunciator in Yaounde,
23:41is External Relations
23:42Minister Mbella Mbella to
23:44convey the feelings of the
23:45country's foreign policy
23:47establishment.
23:48He was a man of a lot of
23:50humanism and also of peace.
23:53He was an apostle of peace.
23:56Although he did not come to
23:57Cameroon, but he maintained
23:58a very good relationship
24:00between the Holy
24:02Holy See and Cameroon.
24:05Just like his colleague of
24:07external relations, the
24:09minister-delegate at the
24:10presidency in charge of
24:11defense, Joseph Betty
24:13Asomo, accompanied by senior
24:15military personnel also comes
24:17to pay his tributes to the
24:18late Pope through the
24:20apostolic nuncio to Cameroon
24:22and Equatorial Guinea.
24:23It has not been given to
24:25all Popes to really be taken
24:28by God the following day of
24:31Easter.
24:33And he did a very good job
24:38and Christ himself came to
24:41take him.
24:41That is the way I see it.
24:43Cameroon was key in the prayer
24:45sessions of the late Pope and
24:48the presence of many
24:49Cameroonian groups here, like
24:51other religious movements and
24:52party leaders, is an eloquent
24:54testimony.
25:02Apart from Cameroonians, other
25:04members of the diplomatic call
25:06from Africa, Europe, North
25:09America and Asia, five passed to
25:12sign the condolence book to
25:13demonstrate how universal Pope
25:16Francis was.
25:18The remains of a man by birth, a
25:21Greek, but who dedicated his
25:22entire life since the age of 21 to
25:25the development of the country and
25:27the Bantua people of the West
25:29region in particular, has been
25:31laid to rest.
25:32His hard work, that is George
25:34Kiriakides, earned him the honorary
25:36title as vice king, his majesty,
25:39George Kiriakides.
25:40The huge delegation of
25:41Bamiliki traditional custodians to
25:43Yaoundi, led by the king of
25:45Bansua, his majesty, Jean de
25:47Gere, Njontu Chinda II, and the
25:50late patriarch's adopted son,
25:52Honorable Guillaume Bakem
25:53Sugar, were all there.
25:55Here is the report by
25:57Aisingon Koum.
25:59A grand display of the rich
26:01cultural heritage of the
26:02Bamiliki people, represented by
26:05the kings and people of Bansua and
26:07Batufam, at the Kiriakides
26:09leisure park in Yaoundi, sums up
26:12the glowing tribute in honor of the
26:14memory of the late George
26:16Kiriakides, who died in Yaoundi
26:18last April 16, leaving behind a
26:21rich legacy.
26:22He taught me everything, humility,
26:25simplicity, and character strength.
26:28From him, I learned that a real
26:30man should never say something is
26:32impossible.
26:34Having arrived Cameroon at the age
26:36of 21, George Kiriakides quickly
26:39adopted the country as his second
26:42home, subsequently rising to the
26:44rank of deputy king of Bansua in
26:46the manual division of the West
26:48region and grand notable in the
26:50Batufam royal court, while
26:52receiving several medals of honor
26:54and distinctions from the government
26:56of Cameroon and his native Greece.
26:59George was a very strong friend of
27:04Cameroon. He loves Cameroon too much.
27:07He calls his house in Greece Cameroon.
27:10prior to his burial at the Kiriakides leisure
27:13park, government ministers took part in
27:16the cops removal from the St. Peir's
27:18hospital, in essence, before a stop over
27:21at the Bastos Orthodox Church, where his
27:23brethren in the Lord, family members,
27:26friends, and sympathizers praised God for a
27:29life well lived.
27:31May he still rest in perfect peace.
27:34A new book titled 100 Proposals for Cameroon's
27:38Restoration Vision 2024 by Professor Octave
27:41Duncan Gunnar has been presented to the
27:44public. The event took place at the
27:46Monfebe Hotel Wednesday and brought
27:48together book lovers, civil society leaders,
27:50and members of the diplomatic corps. Jessica
27:53Belek reports.
27:56It was a moment of reflection and renewed
27:59commitment at Monfebe Hotel, where
28:01Professor Octave Jokon unveiled his latest
28:03publication, a bold and ambitious
28:05blueprint titled 100 Proposals for Cameroon's
28:09Restoration Vision 2040.
28:11This country is in difficulties. It's very
28:13difficult to improve the level of the people
28:17of Cameroon. So I say, okay, I know
28:19something and I can put it in a book. So I
28:22decide to write a book. It was six months
28:25later ago. So this is my objective is to
28:28say, okay, if you want to do something in
28:30this country, it's possible. But it's very
28:33difficult, it will be hard. But if you
28:35concentrate on energy, on mines, on
28:39infrastructure, on the human capital, it's
28:42possible to bring something before the end,
28:46liberties are 2040.
28:48The book structured around key themes,
28:50including economic revitalization,
28:53institutional reform, youth empowerment,
28:55and national unity aims to spark critical
28:58discourse and concrete action.
29:00This is not a theoretical book. It's a
29:07practical book where the author shares with
29:09the poor bewondering proposals that can bring
29:11something new and positive to our country.
29:13This book is timely, as it's been published
29:15just a few months before the presidential
29:17election. As Cameroon prepares for crucial
29:20political and social economic milestones, 100
29:23proposals for Cameroon's restoration vision
29:262040 are a compelling voice to the national
29:29dialogue on reform and restoration.
29:31On our weekend cultural agenda, hip-hop and dance
29:36all-star Kameni will be on stage at the Yaoundé
29:40Multipurpose Sports Complex with the lights of
29:43Bad Nova for the Mbole Party Saturday 4pm.
29:46Tonight, Robben Binam and the Kemic 7 band will be
29:49staging a show in Douala. And if you love going to the
29:53cinema, then go to Canal Olympia, either in Yaoundé or in
29:56Douala for the wonderful movies they have programmed for
29:59this weekend. Emma Tawai has more.
30:14Tonight in Douala, Robben Binam and the Kemic 7 set the
30:18stage at the French Institute with certain melodies.
30:22entry is free.
30:29Meanwhile, in Limbe, all roads lead to the Kemic 20-25
30:34white party. Glamour and elegance await guests from
30:389pm at Maxon's Hotel.
30:41Shifting to the north-west, Bamenda comes alive tomorrow with the
30:51Atogo Fashion Festival. Jato Sonita and the Forest Children take
30:55over Club 58 upstation from 9am.
31:00Still on Saturday, music lovers in Yaoundé can catch Kameni live at the
31:10Sports Complex. Showtime is 4pm.
31:13For movie fans, Canal Olympia promises an exciting cinema line-up on
31:23weekend long.
31:24And to wrap it up, Sunday ushers in Divine Vibes at the Acacia Council
31:36Explanate with the Wonders of Worship Encounter featuring Grace Betel and
31:43Minister Ita starting at 4pm.
31:45Now you know where to go to to have fun this weekend.
31:52The Credit Communauté Africa Bank and Local Governance and Resilient Communities
31:57Project have signed a convention to ameliorate the living conditions of
32:01people in local communities in Cameroon.
32:04Funds generated from regional and municipal councils will be lodged in an
32:08account in CCA Bank for onward use.
32:11Details of all of that with Romeo Kenye.
32:15Two good partners ready to spearhead development across municipalities in
32:20Cameroon. As the signatories are endorsed as a proof of better days ahead,
32:25regional councils in the country are adhering to the Local Governance and
32:28Resilient Communities Project, dubbed Prologue.
32:31It is a World Bank-sponsored initiative to run to 2027.
32:35This project is going to help people having access to resilient infrastructures.
32:42And we have selected regional and local councillors to be operators to put in place this project.
32:50For that reason, the project signs conventions with regional and local authority.
32:56We have already signed six conventions with regional councils.
33:01And on Tuesday we are going to sign another convention with the Southwest Regional Assembly.
33:06And we continue the same thing with the different council, I mean the municipalities.
33:12The financial package is estimated at 189 billion CFA francs.
33:17The Credit Communauté d'Afrique Bank, the CCA Bank, stands out as the veritable entrusted bank
33:23to save and disperse the funds.
