00:00This director killed three people and never went to jail.
00:04During the production of 1983 film adaptation The Twilight Zone,
00:08on July 23rd, 1982, while filming the segment Time Out,
00:12a helicopter stunt went wrong.
00:14The actor Vic Morrow, as well as two child actors,
00:16Mika Den Lee and Renee Shin Yee Chin.
00:19A helicopter had to fly low over the actors
00:21as they ran through a simulated Vietnamese village.
00:24The helicopter, which was not supposed to fly below a certain height,
00:27collided with some cables and crashed by Morrow, Lee and Shin.
00:32The accident was caused by the failure of the production team
00:35to properly plan and execute the helicopter stunt
00:38and a subsequent investigation revealed
00:40that the production had violated several safety regulations.
00:44Landis and several members of the production team
00:46were charged with involuntary manslaughter as a result of the accident.
