Every movie you've ever seen, this scream is in it.
Transcript
00:00Have you heard this scream? It's called the Wilhelm scream, a sound effect that
00:06has appeared in numerous films, television shows, and video games. It was
00:11first recorded for the film Distant Drums in 1951. The scream is named after
00:16Private Wilhelm, played by actor Sheb Woolley, who let out the scream after he
00:20was attacked by an alligator in the film. Since then, the sound effect has been
00:25used in a variety of other films, typically as background or ambient
00:29noises, when a character is injured or killed. Some notable examples include the
00:33Star Wars franchise, the Indiana Jones franchise, and the Lord of the Rings
00:37trilogy. It has been somewhat of a popular in-joke among sound editors and movie buffs.
00:42Remember Sally when I promised to kill you last? That's right, Matrix, you did! I lied.
