Freedom of information documents have revealed the State Government invited media moguls, business bosses and sporting stars to a corporate suite during this year’s LIV Golf tournament. While the opposition claims the government used taxpayer money to schmooze wealthy people, the Treasurer says the event helped attract investment to the state.

00:26to a corporate suite at this year's tournament.
00:29Invitees included media and sports personalities Eddie Maguire and former tennis star Leighton
00:34Hewitt, the leaders of the big banks from the Commonwealth to the NAB and Bendigo Bank,
00:40the CEOs of the major airlines Qantas and Virgin and other major business leaders including
00:45Santos CEO Kevin Gallagher.
00:47We really need to wonder, does that pass the pub test and what type of return on investment
00:52are South Australians getting for this free lunch and a bit of a boys club?
00:57This is a cohort of people who are always looking for opportunities to invest their capital.
01:03We've used Live Golf to prosecute that opportunity and we make no apologies for doing so.
01:08The government received the corporate suite tickets as part of a contract to stage Live
01:12Golf in Adelaide.
01:14Taxpayers haven't been told how much that contract cost.
01:17It's public money. If they're going to spend it, they better put forward how much they're
01:22spending, why they're spending it and who's being invited. You shouldn't have to rely upon
01:27freedom of information.
01:27We use taxpayers' funds to attract these events to our state to deliver that economic benefit
01:33and we've also been very upfront about making sure that we are positioning our state as a place
01:40that welcomes investment.
01:40While the opposition's criticised the guest list for Live Golf, Ben Hood says he has no
01:46concerns with the people invited to attend last year's Adelaide 500 government suite.
01:51We've seen hard working South Australians rewarded for their effort.
01:55Invitees included business owners, CFS volunteers and politicians from both the major parties.
