00:01It was incredibly emotional and at times very quiet.
00:06There were points where you could really just hear the waves.
00:10This heartfelt and uniquely Bondi tribute for 12-year-old Nico Antic
00:16seemed to be the perfect fit to honour this young boy.
00:21Many of his friends and family were here today.
00:25As they went out, they formed a circle in the ocean.
00:28There was that moment of quiet reflection, not just in the water but also here on the sand.
00:33Many people obviously very, very upset, taking in that moment just to reflect on his life here.
00:43There was also a point where there was a large round of applause from the water
00:46and cheering as well as this tribute took place.
00:50So it was obviously a very emotional tribute today
00:55but from friends and family that we have spoken to today say it was a very fitting tribute.
01:00You know, the word that has come up a lot from people that I've spoken to today is bravery.
01:06That a sense of bravery, of him just giving anything a go, is something that people are remembering him today.
01:12His father, Juan Pablo, also spoke after the paddle out.
01:17It was very emotional talk to his friends and family referring to him as my Nico
01:24and saying that he will be forever remembered.
01:28Also, there were members of his high school here today from Rose Bay Secondary College
01:33which paid tribute to him last week.
01:36They said that he was such a happy, vibrant and social young person
01:41who was so widely and deeply loved amongst his community.
01:45He was remembered for the warmth and energy that he brought to his community.
01:51He was a member of the Surf Lifesaving Club here at North Bondi
01:55and there were many of his peers here today.
01:58So that sense of bravery and warmth is something that he's been remembered for.
