00:00On Tuesday, former Minister Chamfer Kujo Lewis told I-95.5 FM that both candidates had previously agreed to conduct
00:09an internal poll to determine who would lead the party, with the other serving as chairman.
00:14She said Morris later had a change of heart and indicated he would continue his bid for political leader.
00:21Today, he seeks to clear the air on the morning edition.
00:24Mrs. Kujo, just for clarification, since it was brought from a private conversation to now in the public domain, I
00:33would just like to, without going into too much detail, share with the public some of my concerns.
00:40Because one of the things I needed to understand and appreciate about that poll is what is the methodology, you
00:48know, how are we, what is the population size, are you going to only poll young people, are you only
00:54going to poll PNM members, and there was no agreement as to how we would go forward with the poll.
01:02Morris says he has been transparent throughout the process, insisting it is now being made to appear otherwise.
01:09I am quite disappointed because ultimately, the constitution of the PNM dictates that it is a democratic process where every
01:21member has the opportunity to choose its political leader, and at every step of the way, I informed my colleague.
01:30He also addresses concerns surrounding the treatment of former Chief Secretary Kelvin Charles, saying he has apologized and recognizes that
01:39many Tobagoans remain hurt by what they believe happened.
01:43I have even gone further than that to apologize to Mr. Charles, notwithstanding, I was not directly involved in those
01:54decisions that led to his removal.
01:57Morris says his goal remains unity within the Tobago Council, and that there is no room for tension within the
02:05party.
