Cabinet meets for the first time at a location known for lively debates.

But even before members got down to work indoors, the first order of business turned out to be the health of new Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar, which the new chairman of the opposition is questioning.
Transcript
00:00It's the first Thursday since the UNC government has been sworn into office.
00:07That means it's Cabinet Day.
00:09But this Cabinet meeting is not taking place at the office of the Prime Minister at Whitehall,
00:15nor is it taking place at the Diplomatic Center.
00:18It's happening at the iconic Red House, the Parliament.
00:22And, as if to quell the public disquiet over her health as the Prime Minister arrived,
00:28she gave the media a thumbs-up and a wave.
00:39Dr. David Lee says the Prime Minister is in good health.
00:43She'll be here shortly. She's in good health.
00:45As I said, she was on a motorcade Sunday. She has been working from home.
00:49This comes on the backdrop of PNM Chairman Dr. Nian Gadsby-Dhali,
00:54telling her Facebook followers the health of the Prime Minister is a public matter, not private.
01:00In the post to Facebook, she compared it to calls for former Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley
01:05to account for his health in the instances when he sought medical attention.
01:10Gadsby-Dhali said, quote, with no sight of the Honourable PM since her swearing in,
01:16all citizens should be concerned, end quote.
01:19She said Dr. Rowley complied and she demanded the same from PM Kamala Passat-Bissassa.
01:25Gadsby-Dhali asked, is she really working from home?
01:29Files are being sent to there for her signature.
01:32Why can't we see a picture or video of her at work?
01:36Why is the national outcry about such a fundamental issue being ignored?
01:41End quote.
01:43Responding to suggestions on social media that the PM suffered a stroke,
01:47Lee said he saw her during the five days and can so account.
01:51So many things have been said and the Prime Minister has admitted,
01:55said that herself in her swearing in speech.
01:59That so many things have been said about her and I will repeat those things I would have said,
02:04been said about her and she is our Prime Minister.
02:09So I, you know, it's just, you know, it's just the PM at work again.
02:14So we're not surprised.
02:16Lee says he will be reporting to Cabinet
02:19that the work done by his predecessors in the Housing Ministry
02:23has left a lot to be desired
02:25if government is to meet the housing needs of the people of TNT.
02:29What I have gleaned in documents that I've read over the last four days,
02:34this government or the past government only built 4,000 homes.
02:38And so there are a lot of new construction that has taken place.
02:42And we will be doing side visits to get a handle of what is really there.
02:48I'll give you an example.
02:51In Edinburgh 500, two towers that are there,
02:54which is part of Karate Central, which is my constituency now.
02:58One of the towers, they had a cutting ribbon ceremony a couple weeks before election.
03:05And when I inquire that the state of that particular tower, it is not habitable.
03:10Arvashid Tiwari, Rupanarayan, TV6 News.
