14:14And, well, the new dad, Max Verstappen, be back on sprint pole,
14:17where in the past he's started a race nine times previously.
14:22Little or no elevation change here.
14:24We're at sea level.
14:25Magitory pit stops, none because it's a sprint.

14:31A lap distance at full throttle for 68%
14:34and very unforgiving walls lining this 3.6-mile circuit.

14:43He was the one that crashed at the end of the final practice session,
14:46the only practice session, which meant a lot of the drivers
14:49didn't get a run in on the soft compound tyre.
14:52We have been extended here in Miami until 2041,

14:58who knows who we're going to be talking about in the commentary box.

16:02And then the drivers will switch to soft
16:03as we battle for the sprint pole for SQ3.

18:28is not child's play at all.

18:34Your tyres overheating, your car overheating.
18:37And also, Martin, this being a street track,
18:40you want to get out there as soon as you can
18:42in case of yellow flags and red flags as we had in practice.

18:46I would never have guessed that closer.

18:50until they pulled back.
18:52So there is Lando, number four, second in the championship now.
19:01And with his spangly new glitterball crash helmet as well.

19:09where he's hoping that will dazzle the opposition
19:11when he turns through the sun during the two races this weekend
19:16in the sprint and the Grand Prix itself.
19:18And this is the fifth fastest straight in Formula One.

19:25and just do this blowing like hell.

19:28So he means basically turbulence.
19:31The helmet, sometimes you just get lift on your crash helmet,
19:35which is an awful feeling
19:36because the strap comes up underneath your sort of Adam's apple.
19:40But then you get buffeting, which is even worse.
19:44And the faster you go, the worse it gets.
19:47And it's a really delicate balance
19:49between the little zigzag strips of perspex
19:52in front of you on the top of the chassis
19:54and the vents on your actual crash helmet,
19:57the shape of your crash helmet,
19:59the airflow through your car.
20:01And, yeah, if you get buffeting, it's a major issue.
20:04Max Verstappen then,
20:06the only driver to beat McLaren
20:07in Grand Prix qualifying this season,
20:10doing it by the margins of 12 milliseconds
20:14and 10 milliseconds.
20:16It was that close in Japan and in Jeddah.
20:19He was the man on sprint pole here in Miami last year.
20:23And then at this part of the track,
20:24knocked over a bollard in the Grand Prix,
20:26a safety car came out.
20:27Lando Norris used that to great effect
20:29to get ahead and win his maiden Grand Prix.
20:32Yeah, it was a double whammy for Max, wasn't there?
20:33Knocking that bollard over there.
20:35And then the safety car actually gave Lando
20:37the chance to drive off
20:39to what turned out to be his first victory of five
20:43as they're all trying to get out of the way
20:44down to what effectively is the last corner on the track
20:48because it's all just sweepers then
20:50until you get to the timing line.
20:52And Max Verstappen does get to that timing line
20:55with a time of a 1.27.953,
20:58which is faster than Lando Norris
21:00manages the quickest time in SQ1
21:02this time last year.
21:04So we're already going quicker than that.
