00:00:00between the Red Bull and the Aston Martin as they make their way out of turn one and Alonso I think
00:00:04you can tell he's fed up behind Yuki Tsunoda and might be thinking now look I just need to go and
00:00:10get past you I don't know what you're trying to do with Oli Behrman but I'm coming after you.
00:00:15Yeah he's just frustrated Fernando isn't he you know he's asking the team undercut them do something
00:00:21I mean there's no point undercutting them he's not doing another stop for the original plan if he
00:00:26if he did pit again he's going to end up at the back of the field so yeah it's just a frustration
00:00:32of being stuck in traffic. He's led the world championship as Oscar Piastri for the last
00:00:3910 Grand Prix and for 10 Grand Prix total in his career and he's led this race for 40 of the 72
00:00:47laps and he's got his teammate Lando Norris right behind him and Lando Norris has just set a personal
00:00:51best time and it's taken him to within a tenth more of Piastri's 1.3 seconds the gap slowly but
00:01:00surely. I mean this is a wonderful illustration. So George with this damage on the car I think
00:01:07best opportunity for the team is invert cars at turn one. Sorry? We don't think we'll be able to keep
00:01:14start with Leclerc here so. Well, well, yeah, well, he's always been with the DRS but...
00:01:22Well he's complied. Antonelli has got past. Surprised me a little bit that because Antonelli was closing but
00:01:30hadn't got to within a second before that happened before George Russell put the brakes on a bit but
00:01:36he played the team game and Antonelli moves up into sixth place. Birdie, to you. Yeah, it's an interesting one.
00:01:42When I seen the damage for George Russell keeping a close look at the lap times but Antonelli wasn't
00:01:48significantly faster so maybe Mercedes sees some degradation that we don't see and they have
00:01:53got margin behind to Albon so a bit surprised at how early that came but let's see what Antonelli's
00:01:59pace is not on clear aircraft and if he can close the gap to Leclerc. Let's just have a look. Kimi Antonelli,
00:02:06that's where he managed to get past George Russell. He didn't even do it into turn one. He complied with
00:02:11that way before the first corner. Now, you were talking about the McLarens, Corinne Chandock. Yeah,
00:02:16I was just saying, you know, this weekend I think has been a really good illustration of how this world
00:02:22championship is going to be won on such fine margins. We were talking about 100 in qualifying. Yeah.
00:02:28That's been the difference between Oscar getting track position today and getting those points that
00:02:33we just saw come up on that graphic, right? I guess it all comes back to the first run of Q3. Yeah.
00:02:39That, because actually in the final run of Q3 it was Lando ahead by four thousands and it's these fine
00:02:44margins that's going to determine which of these two drivers wins their first world championship. And
00:02:51the best thing about it for me is that fine margins, great. We want fine margins to decide it because that
00:02:56means both drivers are raising their game and giving off their very best. And we talk all the
00:03:02time about McLaren creating an environment for the drivers to go out and to race. They both come
00:03:06back looking relaxed after the summer break. They know that the team is fully behind them and will
00:03:11give them every opportunity. And they also know that whilst they're driving for themselves, they're not
00:03:16going to do anything to fall foul of the team because they're going to need their help for the rest of the
00:03:21season. And at the moment, it's created a brilliant harmony and a great dynamic. Now that might change
00:03:28as we get towards, you know, the final runnings here. You know, pressure takes its toll. You know,
00:03:33who could forget Lewis Hamilton, for instance, backing the field up in Abu Dhabi to try and cost his
00:03:38teammate Nico Rosberg the championship. It wasn't exactly playing the team game that day, but you
00:03:43understood exactly why he was doing it. And if it happened in Abu Dhabi, Norris or Piastri did the same thing,
00:03:49you'd understand that too. But at the moment, it's the perfect scenario to give us the perfect
00:03:55intra-team battle between two drivers. Yeah. And you know, when we get to Abu Dhabi,
00:03:59they're going to be racing for themselves. Absolutely. And so they should be. Absolutely. You know,
00:04:03this is a life-changing event we're talking about. Forevermore, they will walk into a room
00:04:09and be known as a world champion. Just ask people like Jack Villeneuve or Damon Hill. You know,
00:04:13they, that, that is, it's such a life-changing event. And we're saying here, Russell, the, the damage
00:04:18on his floor. That looked very extensive. Yeah. And fairness to Antonelli, he's responded to that swap.
00:04:25He's gained a second on Leclerc in the last two laps. Yeah. And Leclerc, as I think has backed
00:04:32off a bit for his engine, he's doing a bit of lifting and coasting again and keeping those temperatures
00:04:36down because he's, he's lost a lot of time behind Isaac Hadja in the, the last few laps. Hadja is
00:04:43remaining about a second and a half behind Max Verstappen and Max Verstappen is now nearly seven
00:04:48seconds adrift of the two McLarens who were separated by about 1.3 to 1.1 seconds, depending on
00:04:54where in the lap they are. Lando's starting to, to ramp up the pressure and Oscar's responding,
00:04:58both of them doing a lap time within 600 of each other last time round. Eight tenths quicker
00:05:06than Max Verstappen, so nearly a second quicker than the rest of the field. And this is what
00:05:10Lando's got to do, right? He's got to just keep, keep the pressure on, keep the pressure on, just keep,
00:05:14keep pushing him to see if he can force a mistake, maybe. You know, that's, they've told him,
00:05:20strategically, we can't do anything. You've got to do this on track. We know it's hard to overtake
00:05:25without a time delta of about a second, which he doesn't have. So his chance has got to be,
00:05:31right? I've just got to pile on the pressure and see if ice-cool Oscar Piastri does crack.
00:05:37He's got to get under a second within DRS, and then the job becomes slightly easier to keep that
00:05:44pressure on. And if you think back to Austria, you think back to Hungary, it was the other way around,
00:05:49where Oscar was in that position where they told him, you have to do on track. He piled on the pressure,
00:05:53Lando didn't crack. Lando resisted the pressure well. And now, you know, the boots on the other foot.
00:06:00So it's great. You know, it's enthralling stuff as we go inside the cockpit, inside the helmet here,
00:06:07off the race leader. I had a great chat with Oscar Piastri on Thursday, just sat in the McLaren. We were
00:06:17talking about the two moments where, you know, he locked up behind Lando Norris, one in Hungary,
00:06:24one, of course, in Austria. And I said, you know, did the ice-cool Oscar Piastri go a bit? Oh,
00:06:31that was a bit close in Hungary. He's like, well, to be fair, Austria was worse. I had Hungary all under
00:06:36control. Don't worry. Maybe just if we stay on board, just talk about what he's got on the dash. On the top
00:06:41left is the lap time, the previous lap, top right. You see the plus minus. That's his lap delta to his
00:06:46best lap. You see the bar, the vertical bar on the right. That's his battery. So he's constantly
00:06:51looking at that to just keep an eye, make sure the battery, he's got enough in the pack in case
00:06:56Lando does attack. Four numbers in the middle. Those are the temperatures of the four tires. So he's
00:07:02keeping an eye on those temperatures, just managing it. We often hear, don't we, about drivers just cool the
00:07:08front or the front left a bit hard, etc. So they're able to keep an eye on that. And that is a brilliant
00:07:13insight into just where the driver's mind needs to keep working, even while they appear to be in a
00:07:20comfortable position at the lead of the Grand Prix. Esteban Ocon and Oli Baerman still haven't pitted,
00:07:26and they're running 10th and 11th for Haas. And there's a whole queue of cars that are trying to get
00:07:31past them and are being frustrated lap after lap after lap. And you can't see this yet, but Fernando Alonso,
00:07:37after pitting, again, is going to be joining the back of this pack soon on much fresher tires
00:07:42and trying to slice his way through the field. He's now about two seconds a lap quicker than
00:07:46Nico Hülkenberg, which is more than enough to try and get an overtake done. So watch Alonso in a few
00:07:52moments, because he might be seven places off the points, but in terms of time at the moment,
00:07:58he's only about seven seconds off the points, eight seconds off the points. No, but he's only seven
00:08:02seconds off Tsunoda, which is where he was stuck. My point is, you know, he's done the pit stop,
00:08:07and he's clawed back more than half of the time lost in a pit stop. We do get the penalty,
00:08:13us 10 seconds, we set on the pit stop. Who? Who gets a penalty? Me? You can. Are you joking?
00:08:23You're joking. I mean, it's the most ridiculous thing I've heard in my life.
00:08:28It's right up there on a list of top five, I think for quite a few people. I have a lot of sympathy
00:08:35with Carlos Sainz on that one. What I need is an expert to analyze that on the sky pad after the race.
00:08:40I'll try and find one on the paddock. I was actually looking at you when I said that, to be fair.
00:08:48I, as I said, I'd like to see it again and we'll have a look in the sky pad, but I'm trying to see
00:08:55how that's a 10-second penalty. I don't get it. Me neither. Bernie. Yes, Crofty, I was just going to come
00:09:04in on an update on the two McLarens and what they would do if there was a safety car now. What would you
00:09:09do, Crofty? I'd pit them both. Pit them both. Well, there's been a lot of discussion on both
00:09:14radios. It's been really interesting listening. Piastri's been told he'd only lose position to
00:09:18Norris. Would he take it? Piastri with a very clear and concise, yes, I'd take it for a new heart.
00:09:24They obviously have a new heart in the garage waiting to go on. Norris has been told he would
00:09:28lose position to Verstappen and Hadjard and then he's been told Piastri would take it. So Norris'
00:09:34decision would be to do the opposite of what Piastri's doing. So lots of discussion going on
00:09:39on the two McLaren pit wall. Be very interested to see what actually happens in reality but a lot of
00:09:45battling going on down there. Yeah, do you need the extra grip or do you need the track position
00:09:51or do you need the pit wall to save? One's going to do it, the other's going to do it as well
00:09:56because that then ensures parity. I think it's harder to do because Verstappen is still inside their
00:10:02safety car window. He's not inside Piastri's but he is inside Norris' window. But in three,
00:10:09four laps' time that won't be a problem. So yeah, at this minute that would be a headache for the
00:10:14McLaren pit ball in three or four laps. It won't be but I'll see here. I mean the two Haas cars probably
00:10:20still powering on in 10th and 11th but they are, they're going to, when they do pit, they're going to
00:10:26drop way down, aren't they? They're going to drop to the back of the field. We're on lap 48 of 72 here
00:10:32at Zandvoort where McLaren are running one and two and on their way to a fifth consecutive one-two finish
00:10:38at a track where a team did get a fifth consecutive one-two finish for the first time in the history of
00:10:44the world championship and that was Ferrari back in 1952. And sadly for them there's no chance of a
00:10:50Ferrari one-two today because Lewis Hamilton crashed out, brought out the safety car on the exit of turn
00:10:56three and we can hear from him now with Rachel Brooks. I'm sorry to see you here now Lewis,
00:11:01was it getting on some wet paint, was it slippery paint? I'm really, I'm really not sure. I have to
00:11:07look, look back at it but yeah, as I went out the bank the rear snapped out and I couldn't recover.
00:11:13What's the car, how's the car feeling in that race because you were chasing George, I know you said on
00:11:17the radio you can't get close but did you feel in a better position than you have in recent races
00:11:21in it today or not? I mean yeah, it was a bit twitchy the car but I think we made real progress
00:11:28this weekend and my pace was looking pretty decent. I was catching George, I think at the pace of the
00:11:36cars, a few cars ahead of me but very unusual to not finish a race and so early to go out so early,
00:11:45it's definitely not great but that is what it is. Yeah, a big disappointment for Lewis Hamilton,
00:11:51we were just looking forward to the battle with George Russell. Make sure we go visit the stewards
00:11:56after a race. I want to have a talk with him. Yeah, keep it calm I would imagine will be the advice
00:12:04back to Carlos Sainz but I'm not surprised. Here's Fernando Alonso right on the back of Nico Hulkenberg.
00:12:09I wonder what even Liam Lawson would think, you know, maybe not now in the well the adrenaline's
00:12:14probably but I bet if we ask Liam tomorrow whether Carlos deserved a 10-second penalty,
00:12:19even he might sympathize. Look, Tsunoda has now held his pack up behind the Haskars,
00:12:25so it's actually Ocon who's held the pack up and Alonso has now dragged himself out of the
00:12:29back but this is the challenge, right? Yeah. He wanted to do something different,
00:12:33they put him on the fresh tyres, he's now ended up giving up four positions on track,
00:12:38can he make them back up because he's caught Hulkenberg but now he's been sitting there for
00:12:42two laps? He's not going to do it in the DRS zone, that's the trouble because Hulkenberg's got DRS too,
00:12:48so he's going to have to pull out an Alonso special and find somewhere else on the track,
00:12:53maybe like lower part of the banking at turn three but no, just a couple of car lengths behind as he
00:12:59exits that corner. Gap out in front, one and a half seconds, we'll keep an eye on that between
00:13:06Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, Max Verstappen making those medium tyres run very nicely and on
00:13:13for a podium finish currently which has not been where Max Verstappen has finished since Silverstone
00:13:21and in fact he's only had that podium in the last five races including this. Yeah, I mean after
00:13:28this is a big snap of Augusty as he came out. Here he goes into the braking zone, come on Fernando you
00:13:34can do this and he did, so one down six more to go and he might just finish in the points. Well the
00:13:40two Haas cars will fall behind him so actually he's only going to pass four cars isn't he? Yeah and
00:13:44actually Stroll, that early stop and you know Fortuja's timing of the safety car has elevated him from
00:13:54being last up into the points and and if he can hang on to these tyres for the next 21 laps,
00:14:00he could sneak in a couple of points here. His trouble, he's lapping in the 1.17s at the moment,
00:14:04Lance Stroll, is that when the two Haas cars do pit, if they ever do pit, they might actually go to the
00:14:10last lap and just they've got to hang it out for a safety car as long as they can. He is going to be very
00:14:15vulnerable to cars behind him, having pitted so long ago. This is the 42nd lap that these tyres have
00:14:22done for Lance Stroll, but his teammate might just benefit as well. But Alonso's giving it a charge
00:14:29through the field and we can see what it looked like from the helicap as he and Nico Hülkenberg
00:14:35did battle down that little mini straight there. Next up, Gabriel Bortoletto, so Alonso will be like,
00:14:42do you want to stay within my management stable? Antonelli's pitted, that's interesting.
00:14:47Mercedes have gone. Tough tyres for Antonelli, who's going to lose position to Alex Albon,
00:14:53but maybe not Liam Lawson. Here comes Lawson, down that main straight and then Mercedes played a bit
00:14:58of a blinder here and giving Kimi Antonelli a real chance of some flying laps towards the end of
00:15:04this race. He does get out ahead of Liam Lawson, so it's just Alex Albon who's had his tyres on for
00:15:1128 laps to go to get back where he was and then maybe ahead of George Russell, who I'm sure will
00:15:19comply once again because the team orders will be there for him. I'm not sure. Well,
00:15:24Lawrence is a lap down, isn't he? So that doesn't matter. Yeah, that's right, you're right.
00:15:29But he's a lap down, but you know, you still lose a bit of time trying to lap the cars. So yeah,
00:15:34you can see Albon on track is, what is he now? Oh, Ferrari preparing to do Leclerc. Yeah,
00:15:41because they might just think, hang on, if he's boxed, then again might open up here that we need
00:15:48to just cover off and make sure we can get our tyres to the end of the race. Yeah, he'll have to pass
00:15:54Russell on track and possibly Albon as well. Let's have a look here. So Antonelli, does he get
00:16:00the undercoat? He's pushing hard on that set of soft tyres. This is going to be quite close. There
00:16:06goes Antonelli powering down the straight. One more lap and they, if they did want to pit again,
00:16:15would have come out the wrong side of the Mercedes. But they obviously felt that they could,
00:16:19and have done and also crucially needed to. But look, there's Antonelli on the inside. Oh,
00:16:24they tangle and a second Ferrari goes out at turn three. And this time it was Charles Leclerc being hit
00:16:32by another car, not going out under his own guises. And that was a misjudgment, I think,
00:16:40by Kimi Antonelli. He was trying to make the overtake and he just clipped the Ferrari,
00:16:45sending it, spinning around. We've got a safety car and Oscar Piastri is coming in and Lando Norris
00:16:51is coming in as well because they both got a gap back to Max Verstappen to get a pit stop done.
00:16:58And that's quick work by the McLaren team, but to get the tyres ready. But the rear left for Oscar
00:17:04Piastri was a little slow there and it's a bit sticky too for Lando Norris. And Max Verstappen is pitting,
00:17:10otherwise Norris would have lost track position to Max Verstappen because of those moments. So no harm
00:17:17done. And the gap will close down for our leader for a second time in this race because of this safety
00:17:23car. But oh dear, Charles Leclerc really, really unlucky. Muscled his way past one Mercedes earlier
00:17:31in this race and has been eliminated from the Dutch Grand Prix with the other Mercedes trying to muscle
00:17:39his way past him. And I think Kimi Antonelli's got a puncture. So his race is going to have to see.
00:17:48Yep, he's coming into the pits now, but his race has been compromised as well.
00:17:52Karun Chandler, what did you make of that? Yeah, we need to see a replay. You could see,
00:17:56there's Antonelli coming into the pits. He's lost a wheel. Yeah, the bottom of the car. Oh,
00:18:01it's on fire. The plank's been dragging itself on the ground. Hopefully with a bit of air,
00:18:05once he gets going, it'll put itself out. But everyone's coming in. They're all making use of
00:18:10this cheap stop here. Right, here we go. So Antonelli can see Leclerc coming out of the pit.
00:18:17And Leclerc taking the convention light. Antonelli's gone for a lunge down the inside and just understeered.
00:18:22Unfortunately, he's going to have to carry the can for that. I think he's just gone in
00:18:27for a lunge and just understeered into Leclerc. I think that was unnecessary. I mean,
00:18:36we can never know what happened, but honestly, the tyres are good anyway. I'm getting out.
00:18:41Yeah, look, if you're going to catch it on the lower part of the track, fine, but he couldn't.
00:18:46And nothing Charles Leclerc could do about that. Yeah. Rookie error?
00:18:53Yeah. Well, I don't know about rookie error, but I think that was just unnecessary from Antonelli. I
00:19:01think he went in there way too hard and he's just carrying the understeer and he's just gone in
00:19:06into Leclerc. There's loads of space. If you want to try the low line, that's fine. You're trying for a move,
00:19:12but then you have to give the driver on the outside space. You can't just understeer into
00:19:16that car. Bernie Collins at race control. Yeah, I have a slightly different read on that message
00:19:20from Leclerc, just with my strategy hat on. I think he's saying to the team, he thinks the stop
00:19:26was unnecessary. The tyres felt fine. They should have stayed out. And then obviously being in a
00:19:31slightly different position on track, they don't leave themselves open to that attack from
00:19:35Kimi Antonelli at that point. So that's my read on Leclerc's radio message. I'm sure
00:19:40Rachel or someone in the pen will find out properly for us in a little bit, but that was my take on it.
00:19:44The upshot is Ferrari head to Marinello in their home Grand Prix on the back of a double
00:19:49DNF here at Zandvoort. And in the battle for the Constructors' Championship, tighter between
00:19:57themselves and Mercedes, it's just handed even more of an advantage to McLaren. Not that they needed
00:20:03it, they were 299 points clear at the start of this race. Their first double DNF since Canada last
00:20:10year and ending their 100% finishing record with both cars this season. Guess who's snuck into
00:20:17the points? Gabriel Bortoletto. Another great result on the cars for Salbon. Max Verstappen on a set of
00:20:24soft tyres. So is Isaac Hajar, so is George Russell, so is Alex Albon, and so is Kimi Antonelli. So the
00:20:30two McLarens have gone for the hard tyre, but they've got a queue of cars behind them who on the restart
00:20:38should theoretically have more grip. Alex Albon has certainly benefited from this by getting a set of
00:20:44softs on. Don't forget Bortoletto's under investigation for running a potentially, you know,
00:20:49damaged car. So that will be after the race. George Russell, I wonder if you'll have to go and see the
00:20:58stewards now. Charles Leclerc is out of this race, but it could carry forward to a grip penalty for Leclerc
00:21:03for the next race. Antonelli under investigation, I would imagine. Yeah, and we should point out also,
00:21:10Crofty, that Gasly and Bortoletto stayed out there. So that's how they've jumped up the order.
00:21:16They've just rolled the dice and hoping they can hang on. They were out of the points, why not? So they
00:21:22will be in a bit of trouble. Alonso, of course, did that second stop. So his tyres are 14 laps old,
00:21:28and this is again the replay of that. Yeah, every time I say, if you look at the angle of where the
00:21:35Mercedes is heading versus, you know, the radius of the corner, it just doesn't, doesn't look right
00:21:41there. And Lawson and Sainz are going to be able to unlap themselves at the end of this safety car
00:21:46period, too. Bernie Collins, back to you. Yeah, I was just going to pick up on Corinne's point there,
00:21:50obviously Verstappen and the guys running behind Hadjar Russell, all unused soft. Two seconds, Bernie.
00:21:56Double yellow where you are, double yellow where you are.
00:21:58Oh my god, man. I could not see him at all. You saved me there, man. It's okay.
00:22:07Yeah, hence the double yellow flags and the need for his engineer to tell him a lot of blind exits
00:22:13here. Antonelli's been given a 10-second penalty for causing a collision. Stewards have ruled on that
00:22:19one. Bernie, sorry, back to you. Yeah, no problem, Crofty. Yeah, they're all unused soft,
00:22:24so they're soft that have done a full flying lap in qualifying. The McLaren's showing up as used hard,
00:22:30but that was only scrubbed. That's only been very likely scrubbed, but I still think the used soft
00:22:35will have an advantage at the green light of this safety car, so that is one to watch. Can Verstappen
00:22:42get another bite of the chariot from Norris? Let's dig into the memory bank, Crofty. Think of
00:22:46Barcelona, Nico Hülkenberg on that set of soft tyres, where in that final stint, he was able to
00:22:53attack, wasn't he? We saw that unusual sight of Hülkenberg passing Hamilton's Ferrari. You know,
00:22:59that's the sort of thinking that's gone into the decision on the red ball pit ball of, let's just
00:23:06have a go. And throughout today, we've been saying that, haven't we? They're making bold decisions,
00:23:11just trying to do something to have a go. Well, I don't have power. Okay, you did not have power
00:23:16until 40% of the throttle. We could not fix it on track. We could not fix it on track. Try and get
00:23:22used to it under the safety car just now. Try and get used to it under the safety car just now. Well,
00:23:26if you've got 40% power, that's, that's not great, but it's probably okay behind a safety car, but if you
00:23:33can't... No, that's not what they're saying. They're saying that up to 40% of the throttle application,
00:23:39he doesn't have it, but then it comes in in the final 60%. So essentially, it's going to be,
00:23:46you know, nothing, nothing. And then there's the spike of torque. So they're trying to help him.
00:23:51Well, not to help him. They're trying to tell him he needs to figure out how to drive around the problem.
00:23:54Right. Here we go then. The safety car caused by Kimi Antonelli. You've got a 10 second penalty
00:24:01for the collision with Carlos, with Charles Leclerc. The two Haas cars were holding out
00:24:08for a safety car. They got it, so they had a cheaper pit stop. Behrmann is currently in 11th
00:24:14place. His last four race finishes have all been in 11th place. He had a DNF, obviously,
00:24:20at the last race at Hungary. His teammate Esteban Ocon now 14th, so they're going to be back into the
00:24:25equation a bit and scrapping away here. Max Verstappen on the soft tyre is going to be putting
00:24:31pressure on Lando Norris. He's going to try and put some pressure on his teammate. Oscar Piastri,
00:24:36who survived one safety car restart, has got to do it all over again. Carlos Sainz has served his 10
00:24:41second penalty. So we won't have to worry about that at the end of this race, but I'm sure he'll
00:24:47still like to see the stewards. And the safety car period is ending, and we're going to get going.
00:24:52And it was around about now-ish that Oscar Piastri got going before, and he's just keeping
00:24:57waiting. And now he's going, because we got the green flags and we can go racing. Can't pass until
00:25:02the line, but there goes Oscar Piastri, who's led this race from start to finish, and now has 15
00:25:07laps to go until the chequered flag. And they're all in hot pursuit after him. Piastri from Norris,
00:25:13as they cross the line. From Verstappen, who's gaining on Lando Norris from Hadja. And then,
00:25:18George Russell from Alex Albon. Behind him comes Kimi Antonelli, then Pierre Gasly,
00:25:23under pressure from Fernando Alonso on the inside. And Verstappen still pushing Lando Norris
00:25:28all the way into turn three. Verstappen's ties are fired up straight away, and he knows
00:25:33he's got one, maybe a lap and a half, to pile the pressure on Norris, and that is exactly what
00:25:38he's trying to do. Which will help Oscar Piastri a bit to try and build a big lead out in front,
00:25:43which he has done on previous occasions. Norris having to watch his mirrors there
00:25:47and still try to gain after his teammate who's got the free air out in front. After Alonso,
00:25:55Bortoleto running still in tenth. Then comes Behrmann, Stroll, Sonoda and Ocon. Behrmann gets past
00:26:00Bortoleto, and up into the points for Ali Behrmann on the medium tyre against the hard compound tyre.
00:26:06And Fernando Alonso, we can pick up now, has Pierre Gasly alongside him. And Alonso on tyres that may be
00:26:12slightly warmer, certainly more used, trying to make an overtake. Gasly under braking, manages to hold on
00:26:17to eighth place. 1.2 seconds, the gap out in front, Piastri over Norris. They've managed to clear the
00:26:23threat, I think for the time being, of Max Verstappen, who will have DRS the next time we come down this
00:26:29straight. But all so far so good for the race leader, and behind is where all the action's taking place.
00:26:34Yeah, Pierre Gasly is going to do Kimi Antonelli a bit of a favour here, because if you add 10 seconds
00:26:40to Antonelli's time, you know, that's going to potentially drop him out of the points, unless
00:26:45this group of Gasly and Alonso open up that gap. So that gap is important to see. Certainly is.
00:26:52Fernando Alonso has been on these tyres for 18 laps. Will the older hard tyres still be able to cope with
00:26:59the threat from those that pitted during the safety car? We shall see. Norris is staying within now.
00:27:04DRS of his teammates, Oscar Piastri, and he's got the gap under a second.
00:27:10Kimi Antonelli's under investigation again, this time for speeding in the pit lane.
00:27:15I mean, that's going to be a no-brainer, so... You can see where Yuki Tsunoda's really struggling
00:27:20with that power unit issue too, but he's got Gabriel Bortoleto in his sights now,
00:27:26and Tsunoda up against Bortoleto, the red ball makes the pass. Up into 12th place, nicely done.
00:27:33Yeah, a soft tyre there for Tsunoda versus a very, very old 36-lap old tyre for Bortoleto and a hard...
00:27:39...Beym is the one to watch for me as Norris now within DRS, Crofty.
00:27:43Yeah, I said it. That's not happened for a long time. In fact, I don't think he was within
00:27:49Oscar's DRS at all this race. Now, can he stay within that one second? That's what we've got to see for the next 12 laps.
00:27:55As Charles Leclerc still sitting there on the sand deals watching the race.
00:28:00Well, don't blame him. You can't take your eyes off this race, and it's such a shame that he is having to watch it.
00:28:04We'd rather see him in the race itself. 12 qualifying laps is what it needs from now to the checkered flag.
00:28:11Nine points, the championship lead for Oscar Piastri. That could go down to two points if Lando Norris can get past him,
00:28:17or he could swing back up again to 16 points if Piastri can stay out in front.
00:28:24So they went through the detection zone there, and I think Norris was a few hundreds outside,
00:28:28which is why the wing is staying closed down the back straight to 11. So they're both pushing hard.
00:28:34They're both pushing so hard. The detection zone for the start-finish straight comes now,
00:28:40well, a little bit earlier, coming out at 12, and Piastri has opened up the gap. So on this lap,
00:28:45he's going to be safe. Behrman's the one to watch for me, Crofty, because he's got
00:28:49a fresh set of mediums against Gasly, whose ties have done 36 laps on a set of hards.
00:28:54And he's managed to clear Fernando Alonso and up into ninth place for Ollie Behrman. We're on board
00:28:59with Alex Albon, who's behind George Russell, who's got damage on his car from the earlier contact
00:29:04with Charles Leclerc. And to go back to Russell's teammate, Kimi Antonelli, if he has been found guilty
00:29:11of speeding in the pit lane, that'll be another five seconds to add to his race time to go with
00:29:15the 10 seconds for taking out Charles Leclerc. So that will definitely take him well out of the points.
00:29:21Yeah, and now it will put him 17, uh, 15, sorry. So, um, no, it's, it's not looking good for
00:29:28Anthony to get points today. On this lap, the gap up to 1.3. So Piastri just eked out another
00:29:36tenth to keep him in a safe margin. Gabriel Bortoleto, after being overtaken
00:29:40by Yuki Tsunoda, has pitted, uh, back out again in last place in this race. Let's have a look at
00:29:46Franco Colopinto's, uh, progress here, uh, behind the Haas of Esteban Ocon, but not for long. He wants
00:29:53to go down the inside on Ocon, and Ocon will try and stay with him for as long as possible, and in
00:29:59doing so, will keep ahead of Colopinto, who's then got a Sauber to his right-hand side.
00:30:08We're not quite sure what happened. Five-second penalty for Kimi Antonelli. He has been found
00:30:12guilty of speeding in the pit lane, so he's trying to speed there after Alex Albon adds another five
00:30:18seconds to his race time. One and a half seconds, the gap out in front. Oscar Piastri seems now to have
00:30:26hooked up those hard compound tyres, and is it business as usual? Certainly has been, uh, in terms
00:30:33of this race for Oscar Piastri. Oli Behrmann round the banking at turn three has got Pierre Gasly in
00:30:39his sights. The young rookie trying to make his way back up the field once again. He's got a best
00:30:46place finish of seventh in Formula One. Right, it's not for Philly. Copy Max. Max is really,
00:30:54really struggling. In fact, he and Isaac Hadja posting pretty much identical lap times. Yeah,
00:30:59Behrmann, if he can get past Gasly, he'll finish seventh in this race at the very least. Yeah.
00:31:05Because of Antonelli's penalty, so that'll be a career best for him. And Haas need that to happen,
00:31:10because Williams looks like going to score decent points here with Alex Albon. Isaac Hadja is going
00:31:15to score a good haul of points with Racing Bulls. So in that midfield battle with Stroll and Alonso
00:31:21also looking on course to score potentially some points with Antonelli's penalty, you know,
00:31:27all of those midfield teams are going to score. Yeah, and they need to. Ten laps to go here. As I say,
00:31:33ten qualifying laps needed. As there goes Oli Behrmann on Pierre Gasly, down the main straight,
00:31:39and he's pushed his, pushed his Haas up into eighth place. Gasly's tyres an awful lot older,
00:31:45it has to be said. 39 laps they've done compared to Behrmann's nine on the medium tyre. The strategy for
00:31:53Haas that they were kind of forced into in this race, and Behrmann, by the way, starting from the pit
00:31:57lane in this race. They were forced into this strategy, but it really has worked for them. The
00:32:03safety car coming at a perfect time. Yeah. So now the challenge for Behrmann is, can he stay within 15
00:32:09seconds of Antonelli in the next nine laps? At the moment it's 8.5. So seven seconds can Antonelli make
00:32:18in nine laps. That's the game they're both playing there. We shall see. The two McLaren's moving
00:32:27swiftly away from Max Verstappen chasing them. You can see the gap down the main straight. I think
00:32:34very soon Max Verstappen might not be able to see the two McLaren's who are lapping around about half
00:32:39a second a lap faster. Lance Stroll has Pierre Gasly in his sights now, and I'm sure Fernando Alonso will,
00:32:46as he's the car directly behind his teammate. I think the radio message to Max, just as we see
00:32:51his stroll going past Gasly, there's up into ninth place. The message from Max suggested to me that
00:32:58he's nursing some sort of an issue. He's struggling with ride quality. So over the bumps, the car is,
00:33:03you know, it's not riding, it's not compliant over the bumps and curbs as nicely as he would like.
00:33:10Possibly a few very light drops in three laps time will be less than at the start of the race.
00:33:16That's the last thing Oscar Piastri really wants to hear. By the way, a lot going on,
00:33:21and there might be a bit of rain as well. The driver of the day vote continues to go on. The
00:33:27Salesforce driver of the day, Charles Leclerc, was in contention. He's not in it anymore, sadly,
00:33:31the race. Max Verstappen in contention, done nothing wrong out in third. Isaac Hadja,
00:33:36I'm sure, will be a very popular winner of the Salesforce driver of the day. And he's
00:33:41he's drawn a suit, he's driven a superb race, it has to be said. Gasly, been passed by Stroll. Gasly
00:33:47hasn't been passed by Alonso. That's twice now Alonso's tried that, going into the chicane,
00:33:52and twice Gasly's had the better of him. Jacques Villeneuve, the 97 world champion,
00:33:56is with us this weekend. Oh, sorry, two seconds, Jack. I got smoke coming from me in the cockpit,
00:34:01I think. I smell something funny. Okay, we monitor that. Oh, no, no, it's an engine problem.
00:34:09Is this an engine problem for Lando Norris? And that's a lot more smoke than you would normally
00:34:15want to see. Yeah, I think, I don't know if I'm on fire or not. It doesn't smell good. Smoke in the
00:34:21cockpit. Okay, we're checking. Oh, Lando Norris is out of the race. And this tight championship battle,
00:34:29where fine margins have decided everything so far this season, now swings very much in Oscar Piastri's
00:34:37favor, with Lando Norris registering a DNF, a second DNF of the season. This time it's mechanical,
00:34:45and it robs McLaren of that consecutive fifth consecutive one-two finish, and it's going to
00:34:51cost Lando Norris dear. That's such a shame. That's such a shame. All weekend we were saying,
00:34:57we don't want a reliability problem to ruin this championship battle. And, you know, we saw the
00:35:04Mercedes power units earlier this season with the works cars, with Fernando Alonso all having issues.
00:35:09We hadn't seen one yet in one of the McLarens, and today we have, and I'm devastated for Lando.
00:35:16I really am, because he's driven a superb weekend, and he's done everything right,
00:35:21apart from 100 to qualifying. And that's such, such a shame for him to lose 18 points like that.
00:35:29Let's put this in context. Lando Norris was chasing Oscar Piastri. Had he managed an overtake,
00:35:35the gap is down to two points. The gap will now be 34 points at the end of this race. That is a big
00:35:45swing with nine races to go, and in many ways I'm glad we're going racing in a few days' time, because
00:35:53for Lando Norris to sit and have to think about this for a couple of weeks, that is really, really hard.
00:35:58To get back on it straight away, and to have the opportunity to go racing and close that gap once
00:36:04more straight away could be just the best thing for him. And I'm sure Oscar Piastri would not want to be
00:36:09seeing his teammate's car stricken by the side of the track, not in any way whatsoever. It is a lonely
00:36:16trudge into the sand dunes for Lando Norris, who sits there and thinks, man, what did I do to deserve
00:36:25this? And the answer's nothing. Nothing. Nothing at all. And it's another Mercedes power unit problem and
00:36:32failure this season. They've had a few in terms of a power unit supply, but it's the first one that's
00:36:38really hurt McLaren. Yeah. And, well, two drivers sat in the sand dunes, both of whom have had their
00:36:45race ended in a way by Mercedes, one by their driver and one by a power unit. Do you think he's trying
00:36:50to listen to our commentary, Leclerc? Come and sit in the commentary box. We've got room if he wants.
00:36:54I'm gutted for Lando. I really am, because that's taking the sting, not just out of this race, but out of
00:37:03the championship battle in some ways. We just, we never ever want a championship battle decided by
00:37:10reliability, by a reliability problem. Oil leak. I'm out. Failure. Okay. Can you bring it back, mate?
00:37:20No, I'm out. I'm out. No, no, no. He's gone. Okay. Sorry, mate. You were fast today. You were really fast.
00:37:28It doesn't matter, mate. I know. You were fast. I know, I know.
00:37:32Unlucky, boys. Unlucky. Well, Joseph with the support from the pit wall. Those shots of Lando
00:37:40Norris in the sand dunes, reminiscent of Mika Hakkinen in the trees at Monza all those years ago.
00:37:47But as he waves to the crowd, his crash helmet is off. The realization is that he's got nine races now to
00:37:54close down what looks like a 34-point lead in the championship. Now, in life, there's a yin and there's a
00:38:02yang, right? And to Lando Norris's yang is Isaac Hadja's yin. Yes. Because this now promotes Isaac
00:38:10Hadja into the top three. And the young Frenchman, Isaac Hadja, who started this season by not even
00:38:18racing in Australia because he crashed out on the formation lap. 21 years of age, is on in his 14th
00:38:26race for his first podium in Formula One. And I tell you what, the nerves now have ramped up a notch
00:38:34or seven million in the Racing Bulls Garage. For Alan Permain, for their new team principal, it could be a
00:38:40first podium under his leadership, his stewardship of the team from Faenza who've only ever scored five
00:38:47podiums previously in their Formula One career. Max Verstappen is going to keep up his record of
00:38:55finishing in the top two at his home Grand Prix. He was very finished last year as well.
00:39:01And Oli Baerman could be on for a career best sixth place finish on the grid here.
00:39:08James Vals, what a race this has been. And Alex Albon is there to take a fifth place for you guys.
00:39:14And that's some very handy points as well. Yeah, you summarise it well. It's, I don't know if it's over yet,
00:39:20but it's been an up and down race all day. Where do we start? Alex lost a lot of places at the start.
00:39:26He has fought his way back with some very clever strategy, hasn't he?
00:39:30Sort of the other way round actually. His start was mega. Oh sorry, he started running, yeah.
00:39:33Yeah, he got run up behind Carlos. And then from then onwards, I mean, with Carlos and Lawson, in my opinion,
00:39:38that's a racing incident. But anyway, it is what it is. At the end of the day, it's cost Carlos. And Alex has done
00:39:43well to hold in now. You can see he's fighting the bucks. James, I agree with you in terms of that
00:39:48being a racing incident. We've just heard Oscar Piastri saying there's a line of oil from turn three
00:39:53all the way to turn seven. So do you think this race is going to get underway or do you think we're
00:39:58going to finish under the safety car? Has Alex said anything? No, Alex hasn't said anything. So we know
00:40:03it was oil with Landos. That doesn't surprise me. I think it will get underway, Karun. So probably four to go.
00:40:10And Alex is asking on the team radio, any ideas to help me try and get past George? What was the reply?
00:40:16Go fast and overtake. Wise words. Thanks ever so much, James. Thank you. Thanks for being with us.
00:40:24So much has happened in this race. I'm surprised I can even remember what happened at the start, Karun Chandok.
00:40:30It has not been without incident. And we are going to get going again. The safety car period is ending.
00:40:35Now, Oscar Piastri has twice survived a safety car restart with his teammate behind him. Light drizzle is
00:40:42now coming down, says Max Verstappen, who's on the soft compound tyres that have done 14 laps.
00:40:49So this time Piastri's got Max right behind him. Max has got Isaac Hadja right behind him. They're all on a
00:40:55soft compound tyre. Verstappen down to Antonelli. They're all queuing up, waiting to go. And Oscar
00:41:00Piastri has gone. And hopefully this time we are going to race to the chequered flag without any more
00:41:05safety cars. But round the banking we go, all the way to the end of lap 72. Oscar Piastri powers down the main
00:41:13straight, trying to break the toe. Isaac Hadja has George Russell right behind him. Max Verstappen
00:41:18slots into second place. Alex Albon has Antonelli right behind him. But he's got a 15-second penalty
00:41:23to come, Antonelli. Don't forget that. They're baremen stroll. Alonso and Gasly completing the top 10.
00:41:29Gasly under pressure from Sonoda on the soft tyres. Piastri, though, as he has done on the two previous
00:41:34occasions, has got this restart done very well. He has. And Verstappen on the soft tyres
00:41:40will try and push hard on this first lap to stay within a second, try and get the DRS. But Piastri,
00:41:47I wonder how much is playing on McLaren's Minecraft in terms of engine. Have they asked him
00:41:51to just drop, you know, a few RPM at the top of the rev range? Have they tried, have they asked him
00:41:56to do anything just, you know, out of nervousness after what they've seen on the other car?
00:42:02That light drizzle might just find its way onto the circuit
00:42:06in the last couple of laps. That's the message we're getting for the Williams Pitball. Thank you very
00:42:12much James Vales for that. The gap, nine tenths of a second. Oscar Piastri over Max Verstappen will have DRS
00:42:19going down the main straight, I would imagine, because he's gone through that detection zone.
00:42:24And I think he was under a second. No, DRS enabled now. So it makes no difference. Hadja holding off.
00:42:31George Russell holding off. Alex Albon, then Antonelli, and then comes Behrman, who's just
00:42:37dropped back over a second behind Kimi Antonelli. Then Stroll, then Alonso. Tsunoda's got past Gasly,
00:42:44and up into tenth place, and the gap now over a second. Piastri ahead of Verstappen.
00:42:50It definitely looks quite dark there, doesn't it? Under those clouds are that part of the track,
00:42:54and we've got two and a half laps to go. Behrman is going to end up in sixth place. That is a career
00:43:00best for him as well, isn't it? So obviously got seventh in the Ferrari last year in Saudi. Yep.
00:43:08So this will be sixth and a half will be an absolute career best for him. Seventh on debut in the
00:43:14Ferrari, standing in for Carlos Sainz, Colin Pinto, right behind his teammate Pierre Gasly,
00:43:20giving him some pressure in these closing stages. For Oscar Piastri, it's not been a comfortable
00:43:26Sunday afternoon. He has coped with everything though, pretty faultlessly, it has to be said.
00:43:32The gap is now one and a half seconds. Sainz gets past Portoleto to go 16. Piastri just wants now
00:43:39lap 71, lap 72 to be as straightforward as they could possibly be, because the victory and his ninth
00:43:47career win to take him level with his manager, Mark Webber, in terms of race wins in Formula One,
00:43:53is almost his. Yeah, he's driven a great race, hasn't he? He's done everything he had to do.
00:43:59Swap positions, Gasly and Colopinto, that has happened. Gasly has now plummeted down the order.
00:44:05Well, his tyres are 47 laps old as well, and Colopinto on the eight lap old soft tyres,
00:44:11I think they're just saying at Alpine, look, try and chase after Ocon Sunoda if you can.
00:44:16Yeah, Colopinto ties up five laps old on a soft versus 18 laps for Ocon medium, so you're right,
00:44:23that's what they're trying to do. 2.8 seconds in the last two laps, that's a little bit optimistic.
00:44:29Oh, this is a race that come the end and Abu Dhabi might well decide in the way that Malaysia did in
00:44:352016, the destiny of the world championship, when Lewis Hamilton's engine went up in smoke on that
00:44:41occasion and, well, gave Nico Rosberg that little buffer that he gratefully accepted. We'll see.
00:44:48There's a lot of racing to go now between Monza, where we go next, and Abu Dhabi for the final race
00:44:56of the season, but two and a half more miles to go here in Holland this afternoon. And the Dutch fans
00:45:02are going to absolutely love the fact that Max Verstappen's up there on the podium.
00:45:06The Racing Bulls team are going to erupt along with Isaac Hadja as he stands on the podium,
00:45:12and Oscar Piastri, I dare say, might break out into a very broad smile at the thoughts of another win
00:45:19this season. Yeah, I mean, they're racers, aren't they? Oscar and Lando, they're both racers, and
00:45:24the fact that Lando retired with that engine failure has taken some of the sting out of this race,
00:45:29and I think for Oscar, maybe slightly less satisfying in that sense, but it shouldn't be,
00:45:36because he's done all the hard work. He was in the lead. It was unlikely Lando was going to pass him
00:45:42on track anyway. And, yeah, it's been a fantastic performance from both of them. Unlucky for Lando.
00:45:49It is the first time in his career that he has started on pole, set the fastest lap, led every lap,
00:45:56and gone on to win the race as well. It's the grandest of grandstands for Oscar Piastri, who's back
00:46:03after the summer break and back on top. He wins the Dutch Grand Prix. It is victory for Oscar,
00:46:10the championship leader. It's a runners-up place for Max Verstappen, and it's welcome to the podium
00:46:16for Isaac Hadja. That is a brilliant drive for a man who started on the second row and can finish for
00:46:24the first time ever in the top three. Bravo! Bravo! George Russell finishes in fourth. Alex Albon,
00:46:31a brilliant fifth from him after a great opening lap. Oli Behrmann, career best sixth for him.
00:46:37Lance Stroll stopped first and ran a counter strategy to a lot of other drivers, and after crashing twice
00:46:44this weekend has crashed into the top seven to finish ahead of his teammate Fernando Alonso,
00:46:50who wanted to do something different towards the end and, well, his attacking instincts of the safety
00:46:57car really helped him to that eighth place finish. Yuki Tsunoda is in the points two for Red Bull,
00:47:04and for Yuki Tsunoda that's a first points finish for some time. Imola, I think, was the last race he got
00:47:11into the points and completed the points finish. Esteban Ocon, who came home in tenth and your Salesforce
00:47:17driver of the day, of course, Isaac Hadja, well done, absolutely brilliant. A fantastic weekend from him,
00:47:24great qualifying, and then in the race, as we were saying, soaked up the pressure from Leclerc,
00:47:29soaked up the pressure from Russell and did put a foot wrong. Good job, Oskar. Great job and a fantastic
00:47:36performance all weekend. This was a relatively tough weekend for us last year and that's been really strong,
00:47:42really, really strong. Woo! Nicely done, everybody. Nicely, nicely done.
00:47:50Yeah, good weekend in the end. Obviously, sorry to Orlando what happened, but yeah, well done, everybody.
00:48:02Once again, orange is the colour to wear, be it a papaya shade or the Dutch orange shade.
00:48:13Oli Behrman, well done to him. In terms of the rookie drivers this season, there have been some really
00:48:19impressive moments and this is another super moment for Oli Behrman. Started in the pit lane,
00:48:24came home to finish sixth. Wowzers. Yeah, I mean, very, very good performance from him today. I think
00:48:33his team boss was quite frustrated that both drivers had underperformed in qualifying and for them today
00:48:40to get that result. As we see the fireworks setting off for Oscar Piastro as he pulls up into first base.
00:48:47That message, Crofty, from Tom Stallard, for me really interesting because three tracks last year,
00:48:52the Oscar struggled relative to Lando. Imola, Austria and Zandvoort. All those three tracks,
00:48:59he's been just as quick in the races as Lando has and I think that just underlines the progress
00:49:05that Oscar's made between 2024 and 2025. Fireworks all around Zandvoort. There will be a lot to talk
00:49:15about at the end of this race. Don't go anywhere. Join Simon, Naomi and Jacques Villeneuve down in the
00:49:23paddock and we'll be talking to all the contenders but in terms of the victory today there was never
00:49:29really any other contender. Oscar Piastro. I would have loved to have seen the battle between him and
00:49:35Lando in the closing stages but he was keeping his teammate at a respectable distance for
00:49:43every lap up until that stage. I can't wait to see the beaming smile on Isaac Hadja's face as well.
00:49:52Will those two be teammates Hadja and Verstappen at Red Bull for next season with every race that goes
00:49:58by? You ask that question because with every race that goes by he really impresses in the way that he
00:50:02goes racing. Yeah I mean you know he's showing all the signs of a driver who's got the ability to
00:50:12qualify well, race well, deliver under pressure and here he goes to celebrate with his team.
00:50:23Technically you're not actually allowed to go and interact with any members of your team other than
00:50:28your trainer before the weighing scales but I'm assuming he's done that already. He's done that.
00:50:32I saw Joe Bauer give him his little tickets to say what his weight was. I was going to say but you
00:50:37try stopping him anyway and neither should you. This is what you want to see. Great emotion down there.
00:50:45Really really great emotion. I mean for McLaren you know there'll be major disappointment and a major
00:50:51concern with what happened with oil leak leak or the engine failure. It robbed them of a fifth
00:50:58consecutive one-two finish as well. They were the last team to get a one-two finish here but that
00:51:03wasn't to be today. You see Zac Brown down with Oscar and the rest of the team. Dr. Helmut Marko's come down
00:51:10to Park Fermi as well to see two of his drivers on the podium. It's been a while since he's had two of his
00:51:19drivers on the podium. Well exactly. I can't think when that was.
00:51:28We've had it where they've been driving for other teams former Red Bull drivers but yeah it's been
00:51:35a while. Let me think on that one for a couple of moments and tell you that it's the first time
00:51:40that Max Verstappen's been on the podium in four races. Ends his longest run without the podium since
00:51:452018. Guido van der Gaert is talking to Max now. Max Verstappen second today. I think that was
00:51:52probably the thing that you could do not more. It's not easy. Yeah it wasn't easy. I gave it
00:51:59everything at the start you know to move forward. Little moment in turn two but yeah after that we
00:52:05just had to do you know our own race. Unfortunately we didn't have the pace of the McLarens. Then yeah we
00:52:11got a bit lucky of course with one with one retiring but in general you know to be on on the podium here
00:52:16is is a great result. So to be to be in second I think is a really really good achievement for us.
00:52:22Tell me about the moment because it looked quite quite a bit oversteer you know in turn two you
00:52:26went to you tried also with Oscar doing outside on turn one but then you went also outside of Lando
00:52:32in turn two but you had a huge moment there no? Yeah I tried to send it into turn three but unfortunately
00:52:37there was too much sand in turn two from the middle of the track to the outside. I knew that we had the
00:52:43softer compound so I tried to make it work on on that first lap. Last year you also finished second.
00:52:48All the years you've been on the podium right now from all the moments in Zandvoort. Can you
00:52:54have also a word in Dutch to have all these fans here with Orange? Yeah of course the whole weekend
00:52:58is ongelooflijk weer geweest. So for my Oranje and Steun. And yeah it's always very special to be here to ride
00:53:05and of course then finally also to be here on the podium to stand. Thank you very much. All the best. Thank you.
00:53:10Isak Hardia your first ever Formula One podium here in Zandvoort. You must be over the moon.
00:53:34Yeah it feels a bit unreal. You know and what was most surprising to me is keeping that fourth place
00:53:46for the whole race. Unfortunately for Lando you know we took advantage of his puncture and but yeah
00:53:54we did no mistake the car was on rails the whole weekend and I'm really happy about myself because
00:53:59I really maximized what I had made no mistakes and brought home the podium. So yeah I'm so happy for
00:54:05for my guys. Could you have ever dreamed this before when you were a young kid to stand here to be have
00:54:10your first podium? Yeah that's uh that was always the target since since I was a kid. So this is uh this
00:54:17is the first step my first podium and hopefully hopefully much more. Many more to come. Congratulations
00:54:22enjoy the moment especially with the team.
00:54:35Oscar you are a Heineken Dutch Grand Prix winner. How must that feel?
00:54:43Um yeah it feels good obviously. Um I feel like it's a pretty hard act to follow
00:54:49Isaac standing up here so I'll try my best but um yeah I controlled the race when I needed to and you
00:54:54know obviously it was incredibly unfortunate for Lando at the end but um yeah I felt like I was was
00:55:00in control of that one and just used the pace when I needed to and um yeah there was a bit of a
00:55:05different race to 20 uh 12 months ago so um very happy with uh with all the work we've done to try and
00:55:10improve around here and very satisfied to come out on top. Yeah last year you struggled a little bit
00:55:15here what did you change to have the success and the win here? Um nothing special just trying to
00:55:22to improve everywhere we can and you know the start of this weekend was looking like a difficult one
00:55:26and um managed to get it together and qualifying and then yeah I was happy with the pace I had today
00:55:32so um yeah very very happy obviously a couple of safety cars um that the spiced it up a little bit
00:55:37and and we weathered it all so I'm very proud of the whole team and um yeah you know it wasn't
00:55:42wasn't just myself that improved to get here it was with the whole team around me and um you know
00:55:47without them none this is possible so um it's a big big team effort. I think it's a perfect start
00:55:52for the second part of the season not? Yep starting out on top is a good way to go so um if we can keep
00:55:58it running then then that'd be great but um there's a long way to go yet and keep doing it one race at a
00:56:03time. You're looking forward to next week already Monza? Yes I am. Good luck thank you very much. Thank you.
00:56:08Oscar Piastri the winner.
00:56:18Perfect start for Oscar Piastri on his return to racing after the summer break for his
00:56:24teammate Lando Norris it's no points after retiring with a mechanical issue an oil leak which may have
00:56:32been caused by the chassis may have been caused uh by the power unit McLaren and Mercedes will look into
00:56:38that it could be a chassis related uh issue but they will go back to Bricksworth and analyze that
00:56:47whilst the team marches on to Monza to continue their winning form they would imagine and for Lando Norris to
00:56:58find ways to get past this man Oscar Piastri his teammate is now 34 points clear uh at the top of the
00:57:05drivers uh championship Oscar one shot with a bottle
00:57:12Corinne Chandlock uh still alongside me here yep uh he's uh he's very good at signing off the bottles
00:57:19of champagne to various members of his family oh what's this button what's he doing what's he doing
00:57:28basically you win here it's it's the equivalent of uh oh wow lighting up the blackpool illuminations
00:57:33hello Sandvort is ablaze with smoke noise and color and it's all come from Oscar Piastri
00:57:40yeah I mean what can you say you know it's such I think on the McLaren pit wall it the deflation of
00:57:53that DNF will be the overriding emotion you know I think if I was them and frankly
00:58:02you know I can understand that right if I was them that's what I feel right now is
00:58:06is more how we've let Lando down or something something's let Lando down and uh you know
00:58:15yeah Oscar's done a fantastic job and you should celebrate and that's the tricky balance they're
00:58:19having to play at the moment on both sides of the garage
00:58:23he's a gadget won the f2 sprint race here from second on the grid back in 2023 here from the second
00:58:30row of the grid in formula one he's gone and finished on the podium fifth youngest podium finisher
00:58:36of all time uh behind Max Verstappen Lance Stroll Kimmy Atanelli and Lando Norris
00:58:42middle of the track to the outside so I knew when I went around the outside it was going to be slippery
00:58:46but not that's slippery oh you see the sand yeah
00:59:02yeah
00:59:03well all right see you later okay oh
00:59:19oh
00:59:21oh
00:59:22oh
00:59:22oh
00:59:26ah
00:59:30little door yeah oh
00:59:36so that's what happened
00:59:37I found it so efficient like not to close the door into one to actually defend like multiple
00:59:49times I had George or Charles right here and I would just break so late and then no chance
00:59:54yeah because on the middle it's quite bumpy well yeah the crowd exactly but also if you just
00:59:59hang
