00:00It's a football night in Pittsburgh and a beautiful one at that.
00:04Welcome to Accra Shore Stadium, where tonight the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will take on your Pittsburgh Steelers.
00:10And welcome inside our broadcast facility here, Bob Pompiani, along with Charlie Batch, the quarterback of the program.
00:15Always good to be home. Always good to see Steeler fans.
00:18And tonight, they're going to see an offense that's coming off a pretty nice performance with four touchdown passes.
00:23Mason Rudolph set the stage, Joe Charlie, right off the bat, seven for seven.
00:26They go right in and score.
00:27And that big touchdown pass that Darnell Washington, 19 yards, that was huge on the opening series.
00:32So it was good for him to get that opportunity.
00:34He finished the game 9 of 10 for 84 yards. That was good to see.
00:38And then Skyler Thompson came in. Three touchdowns for him.
00:41The hat trick there, so four on the night for the quarterbacks.
00:43As far as the run game, I'm sure Mike Tomlin would like to see more from it.
00:47Last year had its struggles. The offensive line did a pretty good job opening some holes.
00:51But Caleb Johnson is a guy who needs to take more advantage of his opportunity.
00:55Eight for 20 last week, and I think they expect a little bit more.
00:57Yeah, Mike Tomlin talked a lot about him being a little bit impatient because he could have created more bigger opportunities for him.
01:03So he's going to get that opportunity because Jalen Warren is not going to see the field here today.
01:07So I know he's eager for the chance.
01:08And, of course, the offensive line, they are the unit that really are like the jumper cables of this offense.
01:14They've got to get things going.
01:15Last week, both of the young tackles did a good job.
01:17No pressures, but they've got to open up some more holes in the run game.
01:20They do, and this is why you want to come home.
01:22You're playing in front of your home crowd, and now let's see if they can get those things happening
01:26because Arthur Smith loves the play-action game.
01:29And if he can get that running in early, that will create those big opportunities down the field.
01:33Play-action, big plays. Normally that's how it works.
01:35Speaking of big plays, the defense doing a good job limiting big plays last week in Jacksonville.
01:40Let's find out some of the keys to the defensive unit this week.

01:46Well, guys, Nick Herbig is going to play tonight.
01:49He didn't play in Jacksonville last week. He can create some splash.
01:52We've seen him do it throughout the preseason all the time.
01:55No T.J. Watt, no Alex Highsmith, but we'll get a chance to see more from rookie outside linebacker Jack Sawyer.
02:01T.J. Watt told me their nickname for him is Five Star.
02:04He was a five-star recruit coming out of high school, and he is the golden child of Ohio.
02:09So we'll see what Five Star has here at home in Accrashire.

03:35So we're going to see the Steeler defense, and again, they're playing a lot of guys.
03:39And there's Chris Boswell, who's going to be in action tonight.
03:44But Boswell's been a story.
03:45He did not kick last week, of course, down at Jacksonville.
03:48We saw that to Ben Salls, who did a very good job.
03:51But Boswell will be kicking off tonight, and Sean Tucker and Tez Johnson are back deep.
03:57And there's Aaron Smith, one of the legendary members of that Super Bowl team.
04:02Can you believe how time flies, Charlie?
04:04I mean, it's unbelievable where we're going.
04:06It really does.
04:06Aaron Smith is one of the keys to that defensive front up there.
04:10Everybody who played with him knows how special he was on the field, but they appreciate what he has done off the field, even a better person.
04:18All right, here we go with the opening kickoff from Akershire Stadium.
04:21It's 88 degrees.
04:22People are excited for some football, and they're going to get it tonight.
04:25As this one's taken by Sean Tucker, one of the running backs.
04:29He gets across the 20 and is met there.
04:31He's not going to get much more to the 24-yard line.
04:35Now let's take a look at some of the impact players on offense presented by FNB, the FNB eStore.

04:43We saw Rudolph last week.
04:44He's very comfortable.
04:45Darnell Washington got a touchdown pass.
04:47And then these two guys on defense are going to be counting on quite a bit.
04:50It really is.
04:50Nick Herbig, he's expecting big things here as that rotational linebacker, and he's always had a great preseason.
04:56But Derek Harmon, they want to see him up front, stop the run, prove why you're the number one pick.
05:01And I'm eager to see him do that here tonight.
05:04All right, we have Teddy Bridgewater in the game.
05:06They just acquired him, actually signed him.
05:08He was actually coaching, and now he's there.
05:10We're not going to see Baker Mayfield, I suspect, tonight.
05:13Bucky Irving is in the backfield, and he gets the handoff, trying to spin away from tackle.
05:18He's going to end up losing yardage as a result.
05:20The second effort did not work well.
05:22Juan Thornhill comes up, and he had a big hit last week, and he comes up and diagnoses that thing beautifully.
05:27And they love what he's doing on the backside.
05:30Last week he had one tackle, 29 on the season.
05:32But here he is, understanding where the cutback is happening, and he cuts off the defender right there.
05:38Beautiful play by Thornhill.
05:40And Mecca Buka's in the game.
05:41Their number one pick out of Ohio State, along with Jalen McMillan, who's been very good as a third-round pick.
05:47Last year, a pretty good year for them.
05:49Bucky Irving again in the backfield, and we have a pre-snap penalty.
05:52False start against Tampa Bay.
05:53We saw Jacksonville commit this quite a bit last week.
05:59That's on Charlie Heck, the backup left tackle, to the one and only Tristan Wirfs, who won't play tonight.
06:04But, man, you talk about left tackles, Charlie.
06:06He got a five-year, $140 million deal.
06:09He was the first guy in NFL history to be named all pro at both left and right tackles, Tristan Wirfs.
06:14Very tough to do.
06:15Congratulations to him.
06:17All right, so it's second and 16 now.
06:20A loss on the first play.
06:21Penalty on that one.
06:21Up the middle goes Irving.
06:22And, again, this is Cole Holcomb.
06:24Big play there, and he's coming back from that injury we talked about in the rehab that followed.
06:29And he'd be great to add to that interior of the defense.
06:32Yes, we saw the change of direction last week against Jacksonville.
06:35Hit with one tackle last week, but here he is right here reading and understanding the run assignment.
06:40And he burst through that hole making that tackle.
06:42Great to see him back on that field.
06:44He's confident, and we understand exactly where he's at.
06:47No ill effects from the injuries a couple years ago.
06:49Got to admire what he went through and how he's responded to it.
06:52The fifth-round pick by Washington back in 2019.
06:55He suffered that injury a year and a half ago, and he's finally back at it.

07:01Bridgewater gets away from Herbig, throws, has a completion, but it's going to be short.

08:36Good pressure there.
08:38He gets a couple of yards.

08:43Well, guys, Aaron Rodgers has the coach's headset on again tonight.
08:47But on Thursday here at Apershire Stadium, the Steelers and Buccaneers had a joint practice.
08:52It was close to fans.
08:54Media was allowed here.
08:55And they had a chance to have their ones go against ones of another team.
08:58Aaron Rodgers took part in that, of course.
09:01D.K. Metcalf, even Pat Friermuth, he said after that practice,
09:05he felt like the offense started strong but struggled a little bit at the end.
09:08A lot of things to clean up.

09:11Always good information on the sideline.
09:13There's a pass that's intercepted right there by Zion McCollum.
09:17He threw in the coverage of Mason Rudolph.
09:20That was intended for Kenneth Gainwell.
09:22It looks like eight yards on the return there.
09:25But McCollum, who is a really good player for them, one of their starting cornerbacks,
09:29makes the play Tampa back in business.
09:30We're going to take a break.

10:21This is Bucky Irving going nowhere.
10:23Just a two-yard gain there.
10:25Now let's take another look at this interception, which was intended for Roman Wilson.
10:29It was just underthrown a bit.
10:31It seems like the timing was off just a little bit.
10:33Low snap here, but either way, it was a great play.
10:36By the corner, McCollum right here, by undercutting the football and bringing in that interception.
10:42Mason is obviously upset at himself for that.
10:44Not to start that he won it right here, but he's looking to rebound.
10:47And Zion McCollum really did a good job last year with him.
10:52He's a fifth-round pick who's turned into a starter for them.
10:55All right, second and eight now.
10:57Bridgewater has his pass blocked.
10:59And that's Keanu Benton who gets his big ball up on that one.
11:02The events of Lyman, always aware, and he's gotten better at that.
11:05He needed to see more of it in 2025.
11:08It was a nice play action there.
11:09They had the linebacker fooled, but Benton, he was not fooled.
11:12He read the quarterback all the way.
11:13If not, you see Otten right behind him.
11:15That could have been a potential big game right there.
11:17Beautiful play by Benton.
11:19And Benton's a guy that the Steelers really need to come back from last year.
11:24He was really good, I thought, in his rookie season.
11:26Took a little bit of a step back.
11:27This is his third year, and big things are expected normally in the third year.
11:30Third and eight for Teddy Bridgewater, a quarterback.
11:33In the pocket, throws down the field and has his man.
11:37And boy, what a reception that is from Jalen McMillan,
11:40who falls hard, an 18-yard gain.
11:43And man, when you saw that, you said,
11:47man, Darryl Porter came in, I believe it was him, who undercut him.
11:50But that's just a good amount of concentration.
11:52That was it.
11:54There's not much more Porter could have done in that particular situation
11:57because, again, receiver in the air, very tough.
12:03Oh.
12:04He lands on his head.
12:06Hopefully he's okay.
12:07He's being tended to now, and we'll take a break from Pittsburgh.
12:10Not much real estate right there.
12:19Juan Thornhill once again came up from his safety position.
12:21He's very good in that run.
12:23He and Deshaun Elliott are two guys who really like playing attack football
12:27from that point of view.
12:28They do.
12:28And you can see right there, Thornhill, he's new to this team,
12:31but he's not new to the league.
12:33So they want to see what he's capable of doing on this team.
12:36He is a two-time Super Bowl champion,
12:38so they love that experience that he brings to the roster.
12:40Big Cade Otten is in for Tampa.
12:43He's their starting tight end.
12:45He's really progressed over the years.
12:47Bridgewater now pressure again.
12:48Rolling to his right.
12:49That's one thing he can do.
12:50Throws it away, which is a smart play.
12:54Tez Johnson was the intended receiver.
12:55Good coverage down the field by the Steeler defense.
12:57Yes, it was.
12:58It started with pressure by that defensive front.
13:00They were able to get Teddy Bridgewater off of his spot
13:04as he was rolling to the right.
13:05He saw his crosser by the receiver.
13:07You can see James Pierre.
13:08He's baiting him.
13:09I wish you would throw it because that would have potential intercept.
13:12You can see coming left to right.
13:13It was a nice job by Bridgewater just to take the best play,
13:16which is throw the ball away for another down.
13:18Yes, James Pierre was one of those guys.
13:20He made his name really for himself on special teams,
13:23but he doesn't get a chance to play all that often when he does.
13:25He's looking forward for the opportunity.
13:29Big third down, third and sixth now for the Steelers.
13:32Bridgewater again.
13:33Pressure coming, throwing in and out of the hands of Cade Otten.
13:37And Peyton Wilson was in coverage there,
13:39so that is going to be fourth down
13:41and a field goal opportunity here for Tampa Bay.

13:46Just takes his eyes off the football, not able to bring it in.
13:50It really was.
13:51It was a good pass.
13:52Chase McLaughlin will be on now to attempt this field goal.
13:57He's with his ninth NFL team, but he's found a home here in Tampa.

14:06but he's been around, but he finally has a home here.
14:09Signed a three-year, $12 million deal last year
14:11because he had a successful season.
14:13They like what they see from him.

14:20We'll see what the call is.
14:22This one here is going to be running into the kicker.
14:25Should get the Tampa Bay Buccaneers a first down here.
14:28That's very unfortunate for the Steelers.

14:43So they'll take those three off the board

14:48an undrafted player out of Texas, guilty of this one.
14:52And that's one he just has to understand his angle.
14:56And he lost it in roughing it.
14:57I mean, it's an automatic first down.
14:59That's an easy call for the referees right there.
15:01I'm just glad the kicker was able to get up.
15:03Yeah.
15:03I mean, he's just trying to make a play.
15:05That's what you have to do if you're an undrafted free agent.

15:07Trying to make a play,
15:08but when you have kickers in that situation
15:10with their foot playing it like that,
15:13sometimes that's going to turn into a different situation.
15:15I'm just glad no injuries occurred.

15:18I don't want to see that in one of these games already.
15:20Been a couple of tough plays.
15:22And this is a new set of downs.
15:24And Bucky Irving is going nowhere.

15:27The Steelers had it well diagnosed.
15:29And that's Chuck Clark who comes up
15:31from the safety position underneath that pile.
15:33They got some aggressive safeties.
15:35I'll say that, Charlie.
15:36They do, and they have experienced safety.
15:37This is Chuck Clark's ninth year in the league.
15:39He's been the first six years with the Ravens,
15:41the last two with the Jets.
15:42This guy is a box safety.
15:44He knows how to make tackles when you do that.
15:46Last week he had three tackles,
15:47but last season 36 tackles,
15:50one sack, and one forced fumble.
15:52Steelers defense has done a good job on Irving tonight.
15:54Five carries, just two yards.
15:56A couple of losses along those five carries.
15:59So they've been on top of him.
16:00Now it's a second and 13 after the loss of three
16:03for Teddy Bridgewater.
16:05Going to the end zone here.
16:06Looking for his man.
16:07And he has Bucky Irving.
16:09That's a touchdown of 15 yards.
16:11He beats the coverage.
16:13Irving's been running the ball with no success.
16:15This time he lines up, gets a pass.

16:33or whatever they call it, that's critical to this touchdown.

16:42All the scoring plays are under review.
16:44Question is, it looks like he has possession of the ball.
16:47But the ball moves.
16:48And it always reminds you of the Jesse James catch
16:50a few years ago when that ball moved
16:53and the referees actually...
16:54So we're still in the surviving the ground thing.
16:56Yes, it'll be interesting to see what the refs call right there
16:59with that ball moving just a little bit.
17:03All scoring plays are reviewed, so that's an automatic one.

17:08You're right, Peyton Wilson was right there in coverage.
17:11It's a good throw by Bridgewater.
17:12He's been around for a long time, as you know.
17:14This is his eighth NFL team with Tampa.
17:16After reviewing the play, the receiver remains in control.
17:19That is a touchdown.

17:42He almost stole the show last week with his running.

19:13So now the Steelers get their second chance on offense.

19:21Anytime you throw an interception in that particular manner early in the game,
19:24now you just want to be trying not to be as aggressive.
19:26Just take what the defense is giving you.

19:33He tries to get through some original pressure.

19:37Good coverage by Tampa Bay's defense.
19:40That is Yahya Diaby, who's in his third year, third-round pick.
19:45He had a good rookie year, and then the sacks kind of fell off.
19:48They're expecting him to be helped by Hassan Reddick is now with his team,
19:52along with Levante David and Servasier Dennis, former Pitt Panther.
19:55They've got a couple on this team, Kalijah Kansa being the other.
19:59Mason Rudolph remains a quarterback.

20:06Again, it's Gainwell.
20:07He's going to try to cut.
20:08There's not much there at all.
20:11Dennis, number eight involved with that one.
20:14Of course, played at Pitt.

20:17He had a pretty good career during that time.
20:20You can see the Steelers right here just trying to get that run game going on the first two plays
20:25as they're trying to feature Gainwell.
20:27Not able to gain much, but if you just know a little bit about Gainwell,
20:30he has, last season, 75 carries, 290 yards, but more known in the passing game,
20:36so they want to see and get him going today.

20:40Connor Hayward, 83 in motion now sets.
20:46Steelers like to convert this third down eight.
20:50Rudolph surveys the field, trying to escape some pressure, now tucks it in.

21:08Pressure forced him to left, but all his receivers were going right,

21:50All it does is make very clear how much is left yardage.
21:56So as everybody at home is waiting to see what happens,

22:40Jalen McMillan is out of this game, as you would expect.
22:46He is being looked at for a concussion, possibly.
22:50And number 51 for the Steelers, Nick Herbing, is out of the game, too,
22:53with a hamstring.
22:54So these preseason games take a toll on a lot of teams.
22:59Corliss Waitman is on to punt.
23:01Sean Tucker is back, and Waitman's in that punting battle with Dam Johnston.
23:05We only saw three kicks last week.
23:07Looking for more, potentially.
23:08Hopefully not, but you never know.
23:10And it's Tez Johnson who's back there instead.
23:12And he's going to get it and go to the outside.
23:14And he has some running room.

46:28And of course Ireland is a great country for sports. They love their sports. The Irish sports hurling in particular is a big sport but now American football is growing. Well it certainly is and another thing that's happening this year is your throwback uniforms which are commemorating the first season 1933 and this is a look at them and this year we got all this different stuff involved how difficult what does it come up with this idea I know it throws back to the
46:581933 but I like the color combination as well. Yeah well it's based on the 33 uniform it's not an exact look replica but it's pretty close and we had a lot of work to do with the leg to get it approved but we're excited about wearing it this year.
