00:00Dr Rampasad says the pervading crime problem, economic woes and the forex crisis are among
00:08the many negatives surrounding the People's National Movement.
00:13She tells TV6 it may be a tight battle come election day and the PNM may see trouble at
00:20the marginals.
00:21The PNM will retain what it has, it will remain in power.
00:25The UNC will have to rest some of those seats, particularly those marginal seats because
00:30like I said most of them will keep their safe seats and more than likely keep the seats
00:35that they have.
00:37But the PNM may be in trouble in some of these marginals because of the burden of incumbency.
00:43Dr Rampasad also shared her view on the recent forex window launched by the Ministry of Finance
00:51and the Ex-Im Bank to assist small and medium enterprises.
00:56And suddenly you get an Ex-Im Bank to give small and medium business enterprises 50,000
01:02US.
01:03Now, why you didn't do that before?
01:06Why now?
01:07Because those businesses many have already gone under.
01:10The political scientist also weighed in on claims that the chief elections officer is
01:16a member of the PNM.
01:18We saw the UNC sending a number of complaints to them about returning officers being partisan
01:23and all that kind of stuff.
01:25I'm not hearing the EBC responding.
01:28I did hear the CEO when she was confronted on whether she has a PNM affiliation.
01:36She said no.
01:37She said she's got a member.
01:38Yeah.
01:39She said, well, she is, but she did not answer whether she was.
01:42And that was also asked of her.
01:45In a statement, the EBC refuted the claim, describing it as unfounded and a falsified document.
01:53It says, these unfounded assertions seriously misrepresent the truth and pose a direct threat
02:00to the integrity of the electoral process and the forthcoming parliamentary elections scheduled
02:06for Monday, April 28th, 2025.
