00:00I'm Kimoni and this is my man Kevin and people judge us because of the way we look.
00:06My queen.
00:08Every single day we get stared at.
00:10Girls say we're not compatible because of our hair.
00:12They judge her because of how thick her hair is and then me because I'm losing some of my hair.
00:16They've compared him to Hitler.
00:18They said y'all look like a genetic experiment gone wrong.
00:22With my family, I feel like, hmm.
00:25Well I wasn't aware that my sister was into different cultures.
00:31Hi, my name is Kimoni.
00:33And your boy Kev.
00:35And today I'm going to show Kev how to style my hair.
00:39Wish me luck.
00:40Yeah.
00:41People judge us for our hair, but we don't care.
00:46You grab the loop.
00:48Do you want to do it?
00:49Yeah.
00:50I try to help her with hers, but I feel like I'd be slowing her down.
00:53And I help record her and make content for her.
00:55We both have dealt with a lot of judgment from other people.
00:59So I mean, we know how the other person feels.
01:01What you're doing is pretty much braiding around the lock extension.
01:05And then, do you know what you're doing?
01:08Kinda.
01:09I know I gotta go around it this way, right?
01:11Hold on, let me start it off.
01:13I just love her locks. They're so beautiful.
01:15People can't grasp the concept of people fall in love with who they fall in love with.
01:18You don't have to be six foot tall and the best looking.
01:21You just gotta find the person for you.
01:23We met at her brother's birthday party, actually.
01:25I was the cameraman coming to record his birthday party.
01:28We texted for a little while. We were friends for like two years.
01:32So it took me a while to kinda grow on him.
01:34Or for him to grow on me, if that makes sense.
01:36And then, the rest is history.
01:39No.
01:40No?
01:41Just make sure you're...
01:42Twisting the locks as I'm doing it?
01:44Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:45People call me a lion mane because I have so much hair.
01:50My hair's important to me because when I was younger, I didn't have a role model to teach me.
01:56As you know, twist the locks.
01:59Oh, okay, okay, okay.
02:01We weren't necessarily designed to look at ourselves all day.
02:05So take that one around, take that one around.
02:08Not necessarily, but you can do that.
02:10Now that we have all these devices, we kinda judge ourselves a lot more.
02:14So like bring them around like this?
02:17Like that?
02:19I'm so confused.
02:22Just goofing off, making a video.
02:25Really? All up in my face with it?
02:28Somebody said he got too little hair and she has too much.
02:32He said, y'all are not a typical relationship.
02:35She's a beautiful woman and you're an average looking white guy.
02:38It's 2025 and interracial relationships are becoming more and more normalized every day.
02:43Except for on social media. Those keyboard warriors are brave.
02:47They won't say it in Walmart. If we walk past them, they'll just be like, oh, I saw you on social media.
02:52And then as soon as they get home, they're going to be in the comments like, I just saw you in Walmart.
02:56You look so ugly.
02:58It's funny because we didn't really receive judgment when we started our relationship.
03:02Not really too much until our first like real viral video that hit like hundreds of thousands of views.
03:08Her hair is more fluffy than the tree is with a bunch of laughing faces.
03:12For weeks, we was getting blown up with notifications and a lot of selfishness, hate comments.
03:18And it's tough when you have to see all of that.
03:21Somebody put a Kip and LaFonda gif from Napoleon Dynamite.
03:24At this point, it doesn't really bother me, but at first it did kind of bother me.
03:28They said y'all look like a genetic experiment gone wrong, which is crazy.
03:33They've compared him to Hitler.
03:36I didn't even know that. That's crazy.
03:39Like that. Mm hmm.
03:41Bring it back around. Oh, I'm learning.
03:45I got some Scorpio pieces.
03:49I do kind of get extra with it.
03:52It's kind of like an earring, but for your hair or earrings, earrings.
03:58A lot of people tell me to cut my hair off.
04:00This took me about around six hours.
04:04Why are y'all so worried about my hair?
04:06That y'all feel like I should cut my hair off?
04:09No, you can't do that.
04:11Who cares if you like it? It's her hair.
04:14I don't necessarily believe in societal beauty standards.
04:18If you're happy with who you are and you're happy with who your partner is, that's all that matters.
04:22Because you're so light with it, you gotta.
04:24I ain't trying to scratch your face.
04:26Yeah, but you gotta, you gotta hold it.
04:28Is it pushing?
04:29Mm hmm. Kinda, yeah.
04:31How's it look?
04:32Yeah, that works.
04:33They feel like he's, I guess, a lot older than me because of his receding hairline.
04:39People go crazy over that hairline.
04:41Yeah.
04:42I don't know what it is.
04:43They judge her because of how thick her hair is and then me because I'm losing some of my hair a little bit.
04:47So now that dear old Kevin has helped me with my hair, I'm gonna help him with his.
04:52Get him all spiffied up for the day.
04:55Let's do it.
04:56I'm too OCD with mine, so I let her do it.
04:58Yeah.
04:59I'll sit there for two hours combing my hair.
05:02I do feel a little just because of the thinning spot that I have on top of my head, but.
05:07Mm hmm.
05:08I do think about it a little more than I used to just because of how much it gets brought up in the comments.
05:12He don't really like too many people touching his head.
05:15At all.
05:16But I'm the same way.
05:19You got my lipstuff on you.
05:21Oh, don't go.
05:23Looking like we in some movie.
05:25I have received a bunch of hate comments regarding, like, my body.
05:28I do feel self-conscious.
05:30I'm learning how to just manage it.
05:32I feel like it's made as strong as a couple because you never know when you're going to be in a spotlight.
05:37Then you're able to actually deal with the real world.
05:43I'm a quadruplet.
05:44Today my sister Asit is coming over to share her opinions about our relationship.
05:49I was a bit shocked.
05:51Well, I wasn't aware that my sister was into different cultures.
05:58Hey.
06:00What's up?
06:02Asit was happy for me.
06:06I do feel that she did have her thoughts along the way.
06:12So, Asit, how did you feel when Kevin and I started dating?
06:16Were you shocked at all?
06:17To be honest, I was shocked in the beginning.
06:19You're like an icon here.
06:22Although we are two, what attracted you two to each other?
06:26He's so caring, loving, supportive.
06:29He listens.
06:31I knew I loved her before we were even together.
06:33So how do you deal with the online judgment that we didn't really ignore them?
06:37Because a lot of the stuff is just, oh, girl, take that hair out.
06:40It looks trash.
06:41Or, oh, like, why are you with a white boy?
06:44If you're not a lactician, you can't really tell me anything about my hair.
06:47You feel me?
06:48They would basically imply that because they didn't like her hair and they felt like her hair didn't look good,
06:53that meant I didn't care about her because I let her walk out the house like that.
06:56I like the way her hair looks.
06:57I don't give a damn if they do or not.
06:59My family, they didn't necessarily normalize interracial dating and stuff like that.
07:04Like, they were surprised, but they loved her.
07:07So, with my family, I felt like, hmm.
07:11I was unsure if my immediate family approved because, you know, of stuff I was hearing.
07:17And, of course, at that point, it really didn't matter because we was already, you know, locked in.
07:22It just made me feel unincluded, unwelcome.
07:24At a certain point, you just have to let it go.
07:27Let go and let God.
07:28So, that's what I did.
07:30Well, I appreciate you coming over to see us, Asset.
07:32No problem.
07:33Thank you, love.
07:34Take you another brownie.
07:37Yeah, we appreciate you.
07:41Every single day, we get stared at.
07:43It don't matter where we go, but they don't really say too much.
07:46They just be looking like...
07:47At Walmart, it's the worst.
07:49Just about anybody you see is walking by like, who that?
07:53Are you ready to go to the park, baby?
07:55After you, my love.
08:00Kimoni has definitely changed my life in multiple ways.
08:03She's made me a lot more patient of a person.
08:05She's taught me how to love a lot more.
08:07He just continues to pour so much love into me that I've learned how to love myself even more.
08:14What I would say to people that judge our relationship, honestly, is just go find you somebody.
08:19Go find you some love.
08:20But honestly, you gotta learn to love yourself first before you can find love.
