00:00Eternia needed a hired gun and luckily he had many. Here's a look at the brand
00:04new Master Universe Origins Real Blast Heroic Transforming Gunslinger.
00:20Real Blast made his first appearance as He-Man's quickdraw deputy in the Mattel
00:24mini-comic The Fastest Draw in the Universe. A member of the heroic warriors
00:28the cyborg cowboy destroys his opponents with a pack of blasters on his
00:31back and an arsenal of laser guns concealed in his chest, legs and arms.
00:35Making the first-ever appearance in the Origins line, Real Blast is armed and
00:39ready to fire up your display. Oh nice, it's Tom Selleck with sidearms. Let's
00:44take the tape measure and see how tall the Master Universe Origins Real Blast
00:47stands. Now I probably paid a little bit more on this guy than I really needed to.
00:51I ordered it from a different site that was selling him for around $60. I
00:54realized though that Mattel Creations site still has him available and he's
00:58selling for $32 Canadian. So yeah I probably paid a little bit more than I
01:02needed to but I'm glad to finally have Real Blast in my collection. As for how
01:05tall he stands, according to the tape measure it's gonna be about five and a
01:08half inches in height or roughly about 14 centimeters tall. Someone's not
01:13sporting a mustache. Here's what Real Blast looks like with He-Man. Similar
01:16style of body, similar size as well. Let's bring in some of the Master's oddities
01:20though. I mean one of the things I really liked about the Master Universe line even
01:22as a kid was that it was just an open door. Any design wasn't ever thrown out.
01:26You could have someone a little bit more rooted in like the caveman days of He-Man
01:30and something so crazy like a firefighting elephant. Here's also
01:34speaking of oddities, here's what the figure looks like with Extendar and if
01:37we're gonna be talking a little bit about Mattel Creations, here's also what
01:39he looks like with Cyclone. Not being a retail release, no, but Real Blast still
01:43manages to come in clue with a paper pamphlet. The pamphlet's a little
01:45different this time around. Instead of showing you the swappable mixable parts
01:48it only actually shows you how to install the backpack on the back of his
01:51body. Now if the three steps seem a little confusing, clickety-click, barb a
01:56trick. Don't worry, I'll show you guys in this review. That's what I'm here for.
01:59That's what I get paid for. I get paid very little. I actually get paid in soup.
02:02Soup's not generally all that good either. Producer Tony, I'm looking at you.
02:06Let's throw that off though to the side. The figure does also come in clue with a
02:09mini-comic. Star Marshall is the entitled one and actually does have Leech on the
02:13side. That's one of the other characters that we had looked at in this... well
02:16actually this week we looked at the Cartoon Collection Leech. Have you had a
02:19chance to watch that review? You haven't? Oh, come on. Get out. No, no. Go grab
02:25yourself your complimentary soup bowl and on your way out. I'm just kidding.
02:29Or am I? The comic itself though is going to be exclusive to Rioblast. I can't
02:34imagine it's gonna be used again. It does feature of course predominantly the
02:36character on the front. I always really like the look of Rioblast. He really
02:40reminds me of Brave Star. Brave Star was another cartoon I really liked. I'm
02:44actually kind of surprised with all the things that Mattel has done so far. You
02:47think of like the Turtles of Grayskull, now you're thinking of Thundercats.
02:50That's gonna be also a collaboration that they're gonna be doing down the
02:53road. How have we not gotten ourselves a Origins line of Brave Star?
02:58Why not? Brave Star. I'm throwing that out there.
03:01Featured inside though we've got some really nice artwork and I'm gonna be
03:04careful not to damage this comic at all because this is a one and we're done.
03:07We're not getting this comic again. I mean I say that. Watch we get
03:10this comic again. Let's move that off to the side. One thing that's also
03:14interesting as well is that on the very back of this he's riding a robotic
03:17horse. I don't think first of all we're gonna be getting a robotic horse for
03:20Rheoblast but again that does remind me of Brave Star. Come on. Come on Mattel.
03:24Brave Star. The Origins line. The other included thing that the figure does have...
03:28Now let me just say this first of all. The figure has blasters that are already
03:32pegged into his hands. Ouch! That's gotta hurt. He also has hoses on the sides of
03:36his arms. This is all kind of stuff that already comes with the figure when you
03:39get him out of the packaging. The only technical thing that he has as an
03:41accessory that isn't on him when you immediately get him out. Why am I waving
03:45my hand so much? The figure comes included with his blaster backpack. I
03:49really like the look of this quite a lot. It kind of reminds me of something I
03:52would have seen from like the New Adventures of He-Man. Is that even a... is
03:54that a word we really even want to throw around right right now? The New
03:57Adventures of He-Man? Making sure I'm not getting thrown any turnips at me. This
04:01basically will just attach onto the back of his body. If you had been paying
04:04attention to the three steps on the instructions, clickety-click, you'll know
04:07that this attaches on the back. It's not that hard though at all. Basically if you
04:11look at the back of his body you have these longer areas and then you have
04:15these little shorter that aren't as long as them. They're about half the size.
04:18When you put this on his back, you don't put it in this way. You put it in so that
04:21these line up to here. They put in like this on an angle and then basically you
04:26just twist it up and that locks it in place. It survives as well the blizzard
04:30test. I don't think Rheoblast has to worry all much about blizzards. If he
04:33ever had a blizzard, I'm sure where he's growing up and policing
04:37the town, I'm sure a blizzard would melt pretty fast. But that's
04:41gonna ensure that that's not gonna be going anywhere. Now if you were to look
04:44at this figure and you happen to have yourself the vintage Rheoblast, which I
04:47don't, it's a very identical looking figure. The only thing that's a little
04:50bit different is that the hoses that are attaching onto the arms now would have
04:54just been molded I believe to his arms. So these would have just been like
04:57basically just part of the molding. These actually do have attach and that's one
05:01issue I do have with Rheoblast is that they don't attach securely. When you
05:04start to move his arms around, I think I have them far enough in there, but you
05:08may find yourself frequently, and I mean frequently, attaching these back into the
05:12provided holes. These just plug in place like that and obviously you're gonna
05:16rinse and repeat the steps over here as well. But yeah, moving the figure around
05:19from time to time, these hoses do come loose. If obviously you're gonna be
05:22rotating his arm all the way around, that's first of all a no-no. That's gonna
05:26pull this guaranteed and that's gonna come loose. So you just want to make sure
05:29that these are always attached securely. These also attach into his hands. Now
05:33these can be removed if you want, but unfortunately he's just gonna have like
05:36this big ugly looking hole in his hands. Well let's just say you don't like your
05:40Rheoblast at all with the blasters. These could technically be detached just like
05:45that. It looks like the crow right there. Again, these basically will just plug on
05:51the insides of his hands. That's the way it's supposed to look. I suppose maybe
05:55you could probably put them on on the outside as well, but Rheoblasts always
05:58like to conceal his firearms. The thing that's cool though about them is that
06:02being that they are pegged and all, you can just basically swivel them in. So it
06:05looks like he's a quick draw. So he brings his arm up, swivels the cannon
06:09forward, and he's got his blasters. Now you already have seen what little
06:13movement I've done for the arms. These hoses have already come loose. This is
06:16probably gonna happen a lot. Don't worry. I'm gonna be seeing this, I'm sure, quite
06:19frequently during this review. The thing that's also really cool about Rheoblast
06:23is that he conceals so many different concealed weapons. He
06:27has one in his chest, he has ones in his legs, and then obviously he has the big
06:30backpack one on the back of his body. To open up his chest, for example, and the
06:34original Vintage toy would have had this as well, basically you just take the top
06:38piece here and you flip it forward. This reminds me of long arm from the cops
06:42days. Remember Cops? Central Organization of Police Specialists?
06:47I'm not gonna sing, but that does look like a long arm. It just reminds me of the
06:53character. So he's packing heat there on the front of his body,
06:55and that basically just folds up in place and snaps in place. Then he also
06:59has concealed thigh cannons. That's a weird place to store guns is in your
07:04thighs, but these basically just hinge out like this and pew pew pew pew. He's
07:09essentially shooting from his kneecaps. I don't know how easy it would be to run
07:12because if he's running forward like this, wouldn't he just basically be
07:15shooting up in the air or potentially shooting himself in the face? Ouch! That
07:18probably would be painful. Again, basically just these fold up. Before we
07:23look at his backpack, let's look a little at his face. I said earlier though it
07:26looked a little like Tom Selleck. I know it doesn't look at all like Tom Selleck.
07:29Unfortunately though with mine, you probably can see right here, I've got
07:32scraped paint on the side of his hair. Now I thought the one that
07:36was responsible for this was the backpack, but you'll see while it comes
07:40pretty close to his hair, it didn't come close enough to scrape it. So it may have
07:44actually come out of the packaging like that. Oh that's a shame for the money I
07:47spend on this guy. Mustache looks good though in real blast. The colors I think
07:51are pretty close to to the original vintage toy. Very bright blue they've got
07:54to the Marshall top that he has. Of course he's got the brown gloves there.
07:58Lower khaki pants and then I guess he's got kind of like spats down
08:03below. It's a really nice looking figure. It looks very much like the
08:06original vintage toy. So how the backpack works is, once this is pegged
08:11in place, this whole assembly piece slides up these tracks and you want to
08:16make sure it kind of gets as far up as it does because if it has if it's a
08:19little bit lower like this, it's not gonna clear his shoulders and even then
08:23that might have been one of the things that may have scraped it.
08:26But no, I made sure that the the canopy was all the way up before I
08:29brought this down. If by the way though you don't have this all the way up and
08:33you do bring this forward, you can see how close that gets to the hair. Now
08:37obviously the scrape is right here so yeah it wouldn't have been this at all.
08:40It must have came out of the packaging that way but that gets pretty close in
08:43quarters. Pretty close. I prefer myself to actually bring this much higher
08:49up so just get to that basically the end of the track and then bring it forward.
08:52Not only does he have himself now sights like little goggles he's looking
08:57through but then he's got the blasters on either side. Bruce Willis had
09:01gone on saying that in the original Die Hard film when he was shooting
09:04underneath the table the gun was so close to his ear that it caused
09:07permanent deafening. Now that's that's Bruce Willis. Now you can imagine though
09:11with guns being so close to real blast ear like this, can this guy even hear
09:15what's going on? Does he have himself like Western hearing aids on? What? Sorry
09:19what? Maybe you want the guy that has guns all over his body be able to
09:23properly hear but yeah I gotta imagine maybe he's got silencers or something on
09:27the insides of those guns because yeah shooting so close like this to his head
09:30not only is he gonna be causing like headaches frequently but probably
09:34permanent deafening as well. The way that the canopy works I think is nicely
09:38done. I mean again like it's basically slides up and down the track. It looks
09:40very much like the original 80s toy but again like if you want to have your Rio
09:44Blast displayed on the shelf like that I I think that's a little too much. I for
09:48myself at least would like to display the figure on the shelf with his mustache
09:51very predominantly shown so for me I might actually just slide this down just
09:55a little bit and have the cannon sticking on the back of his body like
09:58that. So the figures articulation going back to Rio Blast's head. It's gonna be
10:03in a ball joint so of course yeah it rotates all the way around. It's gonna
10:07look down and look up and yeah it moves back and forth as well. His waist is just
10:11on a standard swivel nothing new there. His arms are gonna rotate normally but
10:15again like if you're gonna rotate these all the way around guarantee
10:17guarantee those are gonna pop right off. Yeah the figure the figures arms do
10:21hinge out at 90 degrees. I couldn't help but also notice with mine that there's
10:25extra like little bit of plastic that's on the inside of his his elbow there. I'm
10:30gonna see if I can get myself like a little knife or something and try to
10:32scrape that out. It's just a little bit of extra piece that probably is left
10:36behind from casting in the mold. You can see right there the more that I look at
10:41it the more that it bothers me. I have to see if I can get rid of that. There's no
10:45swivel here for the glove. The glove is basically just molded to the rest of his
10:47arms. The hands at least do rotate. They're not attached to anything so even though
10:51he does have pistols embedded inside his palms you can imagine that that
10:56would be a painful thing to have. At least you can rotate the hands all
10:59the way around. Real Blast's legs easily split out. They're on ball joints. You can
11:03take of course the legs move forward move them back. There is a swivel down
11:07below here. I did notice though that the lower legs on my Real Blast are really
11:10loose. This one is the looser of the two. Still he has a single hinge in the knee
11:14for those. Hinge back and forth on the ankle and you can also rock them as well.
11:18Other than just the one issue that I have with a little bit of paint that's
11:22clearly been flaked on mine. Still I think it probably came out of the
11:25factory that way because you know with even like with the way that this whole
11:29gun assembly moves forward you can like just look at that like that's close but
11:33that's not close enough to scrape the plastic. So it must come out of the
11:37factory like I said that way. You know again like just other than the fact I
11:40have to worry about this guy's hearing. I do like the look of Real Blast quite a
11:43lot. I don't like the fact I paid a little bit more for him but unfortunately
11:47though that's one of the cases if you're somebody like myself that maybe
11:50doesn't do nearly enough shopping around. If you're a smart collector, a smart
11:54collector would then check around different sites and see the lowest price
11:56available. The funny thing enough though, ironically enough, instead of looking
12:00around other sites to see where I can get Real Blast, I should have really went
12:03to the source. I should have went to Mattel immediately and I would have
12:06noticed that not only is he still in stock but he is still in stock for less
12:09of the price that when I ended up paying. I don't want to be the guy that tells you
12:12that Mattel Creations still has Real Blast available and then after this
12:15review goes live you guys all go over to Mattel Creations and he's sold out. Then
12:19you're gonna be like what's the deal with this idiot? He told us he was
12:22available. I got my hopes up. I went to the site and sure enough he's sold out.
12:26Let me just say though, backing up just a bit my friends, at the time I'm doing
12:30this video he's still available. He's selling still for $32 Canadian so if
12:34you're buying this in US he's gonna be a little bit less than that and he's also
12:37capped at three per customer. I guess they want to make sure that not
12:40everybody's gonna be buying a hundred Real Blast. Who's gonna be buying a
12:43hundred Real Blast? If anything I could see buying one to keep loose on the
12:46shelf another one maybe to have it sealed and on the wall and then maybe I
12:50guess if you want to have a third one but who in their right mind is gonna be
12:53buying a hundred Real Blast? Probably the same site that bought a hundred of these
12:57things and was marking them up. I think I ended up paying around $60 for them. I
13:01mean I was trying to justify at least in my head okay like maybe if you add the
13:05shipping and you know the brokerage fees. No it was Canadian site so if anything
13:10they probably bought the Real Blast for $32 marked him up by like
13:14$10-$20 and then was selling on their site because like I said this guy this
13:18idiot here paid a little bit more for him. He's still well worth it. I like the
13:22look of Real Blast. He's a character that really does make the
13:25most out of his gimmick but Master Universe as a whole is a really gimmick
13:29heavy line and yet though with the origins few and far between have we
13:33actually gotten ourselves any Mattel Master Universe figures that have
13:36actually still retained their gimmick. With Real Blast it's not that he swings
13:39at all in his waist or anything has to pop up. He has like a flat front that
13:44opens up on his chest to conceal some heat. He's also got in his thighs as well.
13:48I like that he still retains pretty much all the same gimmick and features that
13:52the original vintage toy had as well. I'm still unfortunately miffed that mine had
13:56a little bit of paint flakage there on the side of his face and I know it's not
13:59from the blasters the back that little canopy piece that he has on his
14:02backpack because while it comes close it doesn't come close enough to scrape the
14:06paint. It's the word about him being deaf because again like if you've seen the
14:10interviews with Bruce Willis he said like the real reason why he has such a
14:14hard time hearing now is because that die-hard scene where he's shooting a guy
14:17underneath the table. Don't ever fire a firearm. Well let me just say in general
14:21don't fire firearms but if you're going to do that at terrorists make sure
14:25though that you don't have the gun so close to your ear and you're not
14:27shooting underneath the table. You're not gonna see what you're shooting at. Why do we
14:30even have this conversation? We're just gonna stop the conversation right there.
14:33Have you guys had the chance to pick up Real Blast? Let me know down below in the
14:36comment section. Like I said again at least right now he's available
14:40right now on Mattel Creations site. If you guys did enjoy this video do it a
14:44solid throw to like. You guys want to stick around for more so I hope so. Hit
14:47that subscribe, turn on that Bell and of course come back. As always thanks for
14:51watching. See you guys next time.
