00:00I don't want to seem ungrateful or offensive, but the business community is not really asking
00:06the government for help. What we are doing is asking the government to get out of the
00:10way and to not be such an obstruction to the ruling out of investment ideas and investment
00:18plans.
00:19He noted Prime Minister Yang's announcement of a Ministry of Implementation and Efficiency
00:25come April 29th if his PNM party is triumphant at the polls.
00:31Abood says he was pleased to see the new Prime Minister acknowledge the issue of implementation,
00:37noting that it is an issue for the business community as well.
00:41We welcome the idea of Prime Minister Yang mentioning implementation as an issue for
00:47the government. Please, Prime Minister Yang, make it an issue for the private sector too.
00:52Please would you ask or find a way to ask that new models of management be put in place
00:59in the public service to assist or to allow the private sector to get on with its business
01:07and to give them some sense of encouragement.
01:10He notes the contentious UK visa restriction on Trinidad and Tobago nationals wishing to
01:16travel to Europe.
01:18Abood tells the TV6 Morning Edition, crime levels are high and detection is dismally
01:24low.
01:25Abood says foreign governments are taking notes, but he does not believe it is a problem
01:30of asylum seekers, but rather criminal elements.
01:34I also want to say that I find that the visa cost is prohibitive. In itself, it is a signal
01:41that we are not welcome in the UK. But I do also understand why the UK has done this
01:47and I accept that we have to work very hard to try and improve the reputation and the
01:52image of Trinidad and Tobago.
