00:00A 19-year-old man, identified as Junior Clary of Day Bay Road, Long Circular, was shot and
00:06killed in St. James just before 11pm on Friday.
00:11Police officers responded to the scene and discovered Clary lying on the pavement.
00:16He was rushed to the St. James Medical Infirmary, where he was later pronounced dead.
00:21Meanwhile, in Lendor Village, Chagones, 30-year-old Nicholson Bowen, also known as Balco, was
00:28fatally shot near his home around 5.30pm on Friday.
00:33Witnesses reported that Bowen had been involved in two separate altercations with a group
00:37of men, one on Thursday and another shortly before the shooting on Friday.
00:43As Bowen walked onto the roadway near his residence, several gunshots were heard.
00:49Officers arrived at the scene and found him lying motionless.
00:53Investigators are continuing to probe both incidents.
00:57In other crime news, Captain James Rodrigues and Abdul Azad were charged with possession
01:02of cocaine for trafficking after a major seizure on March 12.
01:07The intelligence-led operation resulted in the confiscation of 182.24 kilograms of cocaine,
01:14valued at $254 million.
01:19Five crew members aboard a shipping vessel were also arrested.
01:23Both Rodrigues and Azad were denied bail and the case was adjourned to April 30.
01:30Nine suspects were arrested during a targeted anti-crime operation in Mayaro on Friday.
01:36The operation, led by Senior Superintendent Papanet, took place between 3am and 6.30am
01:43and included searches at the Guayaguayari and Otwa fishing ports.
01:48Three suspects were arrested for possession of 12-gauge cartridges, while another was
01:53detained for a prohibited camouflage item.
01:57Three others were arrested on outstanding warrants and charged with ammunition possession
02:02after 5.56 rounds were found.
02:05Additional arrests included one for an affiliation warrant and another for a TAC warrant.
02:12Police inquiries into these matters are ongoing.
