00:00At Arra de Bonval in Normandie, the younger Khan studs already have France's leading
00:06sire Siyouni, along with the very promising Zarak.
00:10They are joined this year by two new recruits, the Cartier Champion 3-year-old of 2022, Badeni,
00:16and also by the beautifully bred Aravain.
00:19Georges Rimmaud tells us a little bit more about the two new boys.
00:22Obviously, we're very excited to have two new horses coming in in the footsteps of our
00:28leading stallions, Siyouni and Zarak, and see the stars in Ireland to complete a very
00:34strong roster for this year.
00:37So we are indeed pleased to introduce Badeni and Aravain also to come up at the end of
00:472022, the centennial year, and the next year following that, at least, to be able to produce
00:57two horses worthy of being stallions is obviously a great thing for the Aga Khan studs.
01:05To come to Badeni himself, he's a lovely horse, really.
01:09His performance is very incredible.
01:12Winning, he's a group-placed horse, stakes winner at two.
01:17He won the Jockey Club, the French derby, and then went on to win the Eclipse, which
01:23is something that had not been done for 60 years for a French-trained horse, and his
01:30amazing performance in the arc is really, to us, it was very important to see his performances
01:37and really be able to try to get it from a stallion point of view, if you were to produce
01:44that afterwards.
01:45He's just a lovely horse.
01:48He's a mid-sized stallion with some strong hindquarter, very deep shoulder, very deep
01:56girth, lovely correct horse, quite chic in himself as well.
02:02Everybody that comes and sees him is very pleased with him.
02:07Aravain is a lovely horse.
02:09He was always striking when he was racing.
02:13Everybody loved him.
02:14Aravain's mare, the dam rather, is very special to us.
02:19At three and at four, she was placed in Group 1, and at two, she was also placed in Group
02:26races.
02:27Unfortunately, we lost her a couple of years ago, so Aravain is very special to the family
02:33and to the operation.
02:35He's a beautiful horse, beautifully bred, a son of Dubawi, who's a sire of sires now.
02:42If you had drawn what you wanted from that mating, you would have gotten this.
02:46Even if we compare him to Zarek, who's slightly different, he's a stronger, more of a Dubawi
02:52type, so it gives another option.
02:55He's also a miler, again, different to Zarek, so it's good to have the two options with
03:01sons of Dubawi.
03:03We think his pedigree, his performances are really worthy of standing him in stud, and
03:09Now it's for other people to possibly follow us in this venture on each stallion.
03:14It's a great adventure every time we start, and we hope for the best.
