The half-sister to Journalism is set to sell at next week’s Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale. The daughter of Into Mischief is one of the final foals out of Don Alberto’s star broodmare Mopotism and the yearling’s consignor, Denali Stud, has high hopes for the filly as she prepares to go through the sales ring.
00:00They say that there's a bit of magic in Saratoga, and this year, Denali Stud and Don Alberto are hoping to share a bit of that magic with the buyers of HIP-165, an inter-mischief filly out of Mopetism.
00:14Don Alberto's star broodmare Mopetism passed away just days before her brilliant son Journalism captured his third career grade one win in the Haskell.
00:22But her legacy lives on in the progeny she's left behind, including this filly set to go through the ring in Saratoga.
00:27We had the honor and privilege to have journalism, Mopetism's first full, up here in Saratoga, and what a journey that turned out to be.
00:41You know, obviously, any time you have a horse come up to Saratoga and sell for $825,000, that's a proud moment.
00:49And when they go on to reach the heights of success that journalism has gone on to succeed is very rewarding and very gratifying.
01:00And now to be able to have the incredible opportunity to represent the Don Alberto team and handling selling the half-sister is something that we are incredibly excited for.
01:14This filly's kind of got the it about her.
01:19She certainly reminds us the most of journalism, of the three foals she's had, the mayor had after journalism.
01:27You just see it in her head and her eye so much, her build, her strength.
01:33I think, actually, she's maybe a little more length of rein, maybe a little bit bigger frame than journalism at this stage.
01:41She's kind of always been, look at that one, so easy to pick out.
01:45But you can see the racehorse starting to come out in her now.
01:48She has this aura and, you know, she kind of thinks she knows she's a bit special and she comes out and, you know, one of the things I really love about her is she just has this really beautiful and kind eye.
02:04You just got to see her to believe her.
02:05That's all I can say.
02:06It's been a roller coaster for the farm, everybody here in Lexington, but also everybody in Chile.
02:15And, you know, the mayor was so special, journalism so special.
02:20You lose the mayor and then you're crying tears of joy and pain in the Haskell Winter Circle just a few days later.
02:28We have a filly by flight line that we love on the ground.
02:32She's a beauty.
02:33You know, her legacy is going to go on through journalism, obviously, which is great.
02:38This filly, from day one, we wanted to bring her up, have the opportunity to feature her in this marketplace at Saratoga.
02:45Personally, I mean, this is like sending your kids off to college.
02:48It is brutal being around these horses from day one.
02:53So to me, it's a special moment to have a horse like this walk in the ring and then think back on everything that's gone into these horses.
03:00It's our Super Bowl.
03:01We're just so fortunate that Carlos and Paola and Miss Liliana and the whole Don Alberto team have placed their confidence and their faith in us and our Denali team to handle this filly.
03:15And that's their vote of confidence means a lot to us.
03:19And, you know, we can't wait for Tuesday night.
