A Select Look at the Monceaux Draft for Arqana

Ecurie des Monceaux is the perennial leading consignor at the Arqana August Sale, and comes into this year with its usual strong draft. We talk to owner Henri Bozo about the 2025 yearlings, including a half-sister to last year's sales topper, who had a very timely update this past weekend.

00:05In advance of this year's sale, we talked to the owner, Henri Bozeau, about his draft

00:10this year and a very important update they received this past weekend when last year's

00:15sale topper, Diamond Necklace, won on her debut to be named a TDN Rising Star.

00:20Today was very rewarding for everyone, for the whole team, because Prudenzia, two years

00:28old filly, won nicely and debuted in Ireland, which was a great result for us because that's

00:35really our family that we developed with Lady O'Reilly.

00:39So Diamond Necklace is a two years old filly out of Prudenzia, so she's a half-sister to

00:45the yearling we're selling on Monday, who herself is by Night of Thunder, and she's also closely

00:52related to two nice fillies we're selling.

00:55She's in the same time, from this Prudenzia family, you're expecting a certain type of

01:02fillies, which is a classy filly, not precocious, but classy with a good step.

01:10I think that's what our Night of Thunder filly is also.

01:14Well I think Night of Thunder is a great stallion to use to complement those classic type families

01:22with a bit more power and maybe a bit more speed, staying naturally classic but adding

01:29a bit of power.

01:31I think that's really what he does best to me and we've been quite fortunate with him.

01:37Well as I say, really what I like about them is the scope, the class and the action is really

01:46quite typical of the family with a good hind leg, which Night of Thunder has helped to produce.

01:54M'Angustine has always been a very athletic filly, we chose Frankel for M'Angustine because

02:01obviously she was a special filly and like many other people I think Frankel met very well

02:09with those fillies who have shown speed and we wanted to give her every chance to become

02:16a good producer and we are very happy with the results.

02:21He's got a lot of power, he's average size, he's got a lot of power, he's got a lot of self-confidence

02:29and he's very lively so I think it's a good mix between the two horses.

02:34Oerin has been an amazing producer so far, the mare is a good looking mare.

02:40He has produced I think a very strong, nice strong colt by Siuni that you will see next week.

02:47The colt is from that good proven cross between Siuni and Galileo.

02:52I think he's a well developed horse with a lot of power, a very good mantle.

02:57I'm very confident with him.

02:59The market is good, I know everything will not be perfect but I think the general atmosphere is good.

03:06We're expecting people to come and buy from Arcana because the results of the Arcana sales.

03:13I think America is different from France or from Europe but it's just a good sign, a good positive sign

03:20and not only the American sales but the general atmosphere of the last year is that there is a real demand for good horses

03:30from more and more people all over the world and we should be reasonably confident I think.
