00:00This is Zenyatta. She is so famous, she has her own statue right here by the paddock at
00:07Santa Anita. On the other hand, her babies are not. But perhaps, just perhaps, that is
00:14going to change. Earlier this week, I called up the trainer John Sheriffs to talk about
00:18the latest Z-baby to hit the track.
00:23This is Zilka. Zilka is a bike candy ride out of Zenyatta. She just arrived here six
00:32or seven days ago. She looks fabulous. She came here and she acted like she had been
00:39here for two weeks. She has gone out, and as you know, Santa Anita is a very busy track
00:44for two-year-olds, and she has gone out on the main track every day. She goes with two
00:49other two-year-olds that she is familiar with from Mayberries, and she is just really happy
00:54with the little group. She really gets over the track well. She is almost the perfect
00:59size. She has got a big stride on her. She has got a great attitude, as you can see.
01:19The Cosmic One was a very big, strong horse and would probably have done really great
01:30when they had four-mile heat racing. Then Zyconik arrived, and Zyconik was a really
01:35cool horse. He was not really focused on racing. Zelda, she was a really pretty filly, but
01:45she did not have the size or scope to be a racehorse. I think Zenyatta stands alone.
01:53Her legacy is her legacy, but it would be really great to have Zenyatta produce a winner
02:00and a nice horse, right, that we could all enjoy and watch run and think about the days
02:06of Zenyatta running. I do not know if everybody realizes how close we get to the horses in
02:11our barns. When you are proud of something and you are proud to be part of something,
02:16it is really nice that people remember that. Zenyatta was full of energy. For a long time,
02:24the only person who would get on her was Heather Gonzalez, because she was bucking everybody
02:28off. Heather did not care. She would get on her and ride her. Zenyatta would buck her
02:33off, and she would run back to the barn and do it all again tomorrow.
