00:01I mean, also, arguably, parade MVP.

00:13I don't know if any of the throw up beers are around yet.

00:23It was.

00:23It was a lot of fun.

00:24It was a good win.

00:25It's always fun when you can get a win like that

00:27with guys sitting out.

00:28So yeah, we got a big one tomorrow, that's for sure.

00:32On a night like that, how do you know?

00:34What is the point where you know that you're going to have,

00:37you're going to go off for something like 33?

00:39To be honest, I don't really know half the time.

00:41Like the first half, I couldn't make a shot.

00:43And then it got hot in the third and the fourth.

00:45So sometimes when you see a couple go in,

00:48your confidence goes up.

00:49And you just start letting it fly.

00:51And you get a little more confidence.

00:53And they start falling.

00:54What's that rule like?

00:56Because we were talking about Pete Pritcher earlier.

00:58And you kind of have a similar role

01:00where you could be asked to come off the bench.

01:04And then all of a sudden be, we need

01:07you to hit a couple of threes.

01:08Or you could be sitting for a while.

01:10And then it's like, all right, now it's a big three.

01:12And you're coming off.

01:13You're cold.

01:13You haven't got a shot.

01:14And it's your first shot.

01:15What's that rule like to always having to be,

01:19stay ready so you don't have to get ready type rule?

01:22Well, that's exactly it right there.

01:25Just trying to stay loose on the bench.

01:27Whenever your numbers call, you got to be ready to go in.

01:29Some nights, you might play 10 minutes.

01:31Some nights, you might play 35 like last night.

01:33So you just got to be ready for whatever's asked of.

01:36And we know our roles.

01:38And that's what makes us great is we're all comfortable

01:40in doing what we have to do to help our team win.

01:42Sam, so we've been talking ever since the playoff run

01:45last year where after the title, it was immediately

01:49the Celtics were benefiting from teams being injured

01:53or that they didn't beat anybody at full strength.

01:56There's been a lot of national dialogue

01:58that has been trying to sort of pick holes

02:01in an argument about how this team is potentially dynastic.

02:04How much do you guys use that to fuel your attention to detail

02:09and focus as you go for a back-to-back?

02:11Yeah, I mean, we're just focused on what's ahead of us day

02:16by day.

02:16I mean, last year, we were banged up, too,

02:18through the playoffs.

02:21And we were just playing who was in front of us.

02:23And we can't control what injuries

02:24are on the other side of the floor.

02:25But I mean, it only took us 19 games to get it done last year.

02:31So I don't know if it would have mattered if teams

02:34were fully healthy or not.

02:35More pressure to win it the first time or to repeat?

02:39I feel like repeating is probably more pressure

02:42just because nobody really knows how to do that on our team.

02:46Nobody's experienced that outside of Drew

02:47of being the defending champ.

02:49So it's been a learning curve for all of us this year,

02:52just learning how to deal with the different types

02:54of pressures and expectations.

02:56So it's been good, though.

02:57It's been a lot of fun.

02:58You talk about guys knowing their role.

03:01And I attribute a lot of that to my guy,

03:04Jiu-Jitsu Joe, the best coach in the NBA.

03:08What does he do as a coach?

03:12Because basketball is so unique, it's

03:14so different to get guys to buy in to their roles.

03:20What separates him, in your opinion, from everybody else?

03:25Well, he's unique.

03:28He does things a different way, kind of a,

03:31I don't know if against the grain is the right word,

03:33but it's in a different way.

03:34But if you want to play, you have to buy into a role.

03:37And if you're wanting to go rogue and do

03:39things that aren't asked of you, then

03:41you're probably not going to play.

03:42And once you buy in and he gets your trust,

03:46it usually is good.

03:47But he'll show clips of soccer.

03:50He'll show clips of UFC.

03:52He'll show clips of killer whales attacking a seal.

03:58That type of stuff is interesting,

04:00but he somehow is able to relate it to basketball.

04:02Well, you've got to get him some footage of Wiggy

04:04attacking an appetizer, too.

04:06What's the oddest thing that he has shown you

04:09guys from a motivation standpoint?

04:13Man, I mean, he must love the Nature channel

04:18because we've seen a few videos of a lion attacking a gazelle

04:21or, like I said, the killer whale attacking a seal.

04:24So all that stuff he's able to tie back

04:27into basketball, which kind of keeps you

04:28on the edge of your seat, which I guess it always is fresh.

04:33I guess that's a good way to say it.

04:34Do you attribute a night like you had last night

04:36when you said you started off a bit cold

04:37and then you got things going to him

04:39and his ability to give you confidence maybe

04:42when you need it?

04:43Sure, I mean, yeah.

04:44I mean, I was still playing a lot of minutes

04:48even though I wasn't necessarily making shots.

04:50I was trying to do other things on the floor.

04:53So he has a lot of trust in me when I shoot the ball

04:57on that side of the floor.

04:58And my teammates were fine to me when I was open.

05:01And then guys would just tell me to keep shooting.

05:03And that's what you got to do sometimes when you're working

05:05through a slump like that.

05:07We talk a lot about Jason Tatum getting the recognition

05:10that he deserves around the rest of the league.

05:13Do guys on this team feel like he's undervalued,

05:17underappreciated around the league?

05:19He's definitely not underappreciated on our team.

05:22That's for sure.

05:22But around the league, I think he

05:24gets some unwarranted hate for whatever reason that may be.

05:29I mean, if you look at his resume, it speaks for itself.

05:31He's done a lot in this league.

05:33And it's hard to deny how good he is.

05:37And he makes everyone around him better,

05:39which makes him really good.

05:41Preach, he's the face of the league.

05:43Preach.

05:44Yeah, Wiggy anointed him that years ago.

05:48Nickname-wise, what do you choose?

05:51He talked about nicknames the other day.

05:52What do you call him?

05:54For Jason?

05:55Yeah.

05:56I just call him JT.

05:57OK.

06:02I think he just likes tacos.

06:07So you were on the floor, near the floor,

06:10when a player nearly died.

06:13that to see that shot he took on Saturday night?

06:18Yeah, you know.

06:20It was awful.

06:24We all saw it.

06:28Is it weird growing up and watching somebody

06:30like LeBron play, and I assume, you know, admiring him

06:34and then being on the court with him?

06:37Yeah, it's definitely kind of, I think,

06:39more so my first couple of years.

06:41It was kind of like a surreal moment.

06:44And it's obviously, you know, you get out there

06:46and you compete against a guy, it feels different.

06:48But a guy like him has been the face of the league

06:51for 20 years now.

06:53So it's pretty cool to experience that.

06:56But you know, I'm glad we got the win the other night

06:58against them.

06:59Yeah.
