The sights and songs of Marrakesh Bay on Ash Wednesdays like music to lots of people's
00:09
ears.
00:13
The songs of the waves and how they break on the shoreline, the smell of the sea cooling
00:17
down after two days of blazing hot sun and reverie feel like magic to many.
00:25
With attentive lifeguards on the lookout for any seabaiters who may not have fully recovered
00:29
from the carnival festivities and police on patrol to give that extra sense of security.
00:36
Our crew arrived at Marrakesh Bay around the midday and according to Anthony Paul, acting
00:40
patrol captain of Marrakesh Bay lifeguards, over the years he has noticed the crowds have
00:46
become less and less at Marrakesh Bay after carnival.
00:50
Presently right now the crowd is not what we are expecting for Ash Wednesday.
00:57
Normally for Ash Wednesday they have people from Bautistan on the beach at Marrakesh Bay.
01:02
They have a lot of traffic on the road but for this time of the day almost half to.
01:08
We didn't get the crowd we were expecting and with the traffic we didn't get it.
01:15
So the Ash Wednesday presently right now it's kind of normal.
01:18
Paul also had this message for parents.
01:21
Always keep an extra eye on the kids because we have a lot of people coming to the beach
01:27
and they go under their chairs and their umbrellas and they forget about their kids.
01:32
Sometimes we have a lot of kids we find lost all over the beach.
01:36
Now onto the beach we go where we met with a few tourists, locals and even some returning
01:41
nationals all taking the opportunity to rock back and relax after participating in carnival
01:47
celebrations over the past few weeks.
01:50
We met with Raphael Morton-Gittins who told us that he and the water go hand in hand.
01:55
So it's only right that he visited the beach after two days of jumping up.
02:00
Me and the madam came out because I played mass and we did a whole set of FETs and so
02:04
on and we just wanted to chill out, take in the sea, relax a little bit, all my joints hurting you know.
02:12
Antoinette Cornell a returning national and Cody Jones from Georgia said they both enjoyed
02:17
the carnival but always look forward to the cool down on Ash Wednesday.
02:22
Beach is healing.
02:23
We were just talking about that.
02:25
It's a healing experience.
02:26
You soak your body, you soak your joints, you soak everything, you soak the back of
02:30
your head, everything.
02:31
So I love the beach, yes.
02:34
I knew it was the thing to do the day after carnival is over.
02:37
You go relax, wash off all the paint, all the sweat, all the worries and I've been to
02:44
Toko so I haven't been to Marrakesh.
02:46
I know that's probably a blast for me because it's the first place you got to come to.
02:50
That's right.
02:51
So I had to make amends and come back and come here.
02:54
We also met with Melvin Clark and his wife Akilah Richards who believe Marrakesh B is
02:59
the beach with the most vibes.
03:02
Marrakesh have the vibe, have the good vibe, good vibe.
03:05
You hear the music in the background?
03:07
That's why we like Marrakesh.
03:09
The vibe from start to finish was on top here with you.
03:13
You see 100 is here?
03:15
About 150, almost 200 percent.
03:17
You understand?
03:20
And when it came to safety, Clark said he felt really safe on the beach with his family.
03:26
I'll be honest.
03:27
I have a two and a half year old.
03:29
They had the police with the horses come by.
03:31
So it made us feel safe.
03:33
Definitely made us feel safe.
03:34
Family friendly.
03:35
So you can come if it's just you and your brethren, you and your sisters or you and
03:39
your family.
03:40
So I definitely feel safe with that, 100 percent.
03:43
According to soccer artist Mikkel Teja, there's really no place like home.
