00:00A London court has ruled that British band The 1975 cannot be held liable for the shutdown
00:07of the Good Vibes Festival two years ago.
00:10Last July, the organiser of the music festival filed the suit against The 1975 and its individual
00:16members after Matty Healy kissed a male bandmate during their performance, leading to the festival
00:22being shut down.
00:24Future Sound Asia had sought 11.25 million ringgit in damages, claiming that The 1975
00:30production's LLP breached its contract and that all four band members owed a duty of
00:36care.
00:37However, Judge William Hansen ruled yesterday that there was no real prospect of proving
00:42that band members owed a duty of care to FSA.
00:46According to a written judgement, he said it would be unfair to impose liability on
00:50the band members as they were not alleged to have known the details of PUSPAL guidelines
00:55or Malaysian laws and performance regulations.
00:58PUSPAL refers to the Central Agency for Application for Filming and Performance by Foreign Artistes,
01:04which oversees approval for international acts performing in Malaysia.
