00:00The Court of Appeal has affirmed a High Court ruling that Bersatu President Muhyiddin Yassin,
00:05the famed former Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng,
00:09and remarks made concerning Jayasan Al-Bukhari's tax-exempt status.
00:13A three-member bench chaired by Justice al-Sahari Kamal-Ramdi, however,
00:18reduced the quantum of damages payable to Lim from RM1.34 million to RM450,000.
00:25Lim was also awarded cost of RM35,000.
00:28Also on the panel, hearing the appeal were Justices Ahmad Kamal Shahid and Latifah Tahar.
00:35Lim sued Muhyiddin over three separate statements posted on Facebook in March 2023.
00:41Al-Sahari said the judges agreed with the High Court that the statements were false and defamatory.
00:47He said the statements implied that Lim was a racist, anti-Malay and anti-Islam.
