00:00The High Court has acquitted Kedah Menteri Besar Sanusi Noor of a charge of making seditious
00:06remarks against the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah.
00:13Justice Aslam Zainuddin made the ruling after Deputy Public Prosecutor Masri Daud informed
00:18the court that the Attorney General's Chambers had accepted Sanusi's representations.
00:24The prosecution had sought a discharge not amounting to acquittal, but the judge acquitted
00:28Sanusi after the defense argued it was the proper order given that the prosecution had
00:33expressed its intention not to pursue the case.
00:36Sanusi's lawyer, Awang Armada Jaya Awang Mahmud, explained that when the prosecution
00:42expressed its intention not to proceed with the charge, it meant the charge was halted.
00:47He said a DNAA does not reflect this intention and argued that if the charge is being halted,
00:53it is fair for Sanusi to be acquitted.
00:56With the acquittal, Sanusi has been freed from all charges of making seditious remarks
01:01about the rulers leveled at him in 2023.
01:04On December 10 last year, Sanusi was acquitted of the charge related to his remarks against
01:09the Selangor Sultan after the AJC accepted his earlier representations.
