00:00These players representing the Hibiscus Women's Cricket Club were hard at
00:04practice at the Ranjinan and Recreation Ground in Presal. This, as the Trinidad
00:08and Tobago Women's Cricket Association 50-over tournament is in progress. They
00:12are led by former TNT cricketer Jovina Pollock-Singh, who relishes working with
00:16this team. Oh, this year with these young ladies it gives me a new revitalization
00:21for the game. Seeing the talent we have coming up in the future, it seems it goes
00:25well for the future. These ladies is the first year actually playing 50-overs
00:30cricket, so this year and this first 50-overs we are looking at it as
00:34development. So far we are doing well for there being the first 50-overs and I'm
00:40sure I'll be coming out with a bang for the 2020. Pollock-Singh kept for TNT and
00:44also opened the batting at regional level. So is she doing the same with
00:48Hibiscus? This year I'm taking a backseat to the keeping. I'm letting the young
00:52keepers take the forefront in the games. I'm actually, I'm usually an opener, but
00:57this year is what I'm giving the younger ones a chance to get out there, get some
01:01games behind in him, get some runs behind in him for their development.
01:05Hibiscus are not in with a chance of winning the 50-over crown, but they hope
01:09to upset Big Gun's power gen when the teams meet on Sunday at Honeymoon Park.
01:13Also with the side is former Red Force cricketer and coach Kelvin Williams, who
01:17enjoys working with the players. You know, the club have a lot of rich history
01:22behind it. You know, they won, you know, trophies, championships and this kind of
01:27thing. So what I want, you know, is, you know, perhaps we're not going to do it this
01:32year because we were building, you know, for next year and the year after. You know, so
01:37you know, I would like to see us, you know, back in those glory days, you know, with
01:40these young ladies. Williams willingly joined Hibiscus late last year after
01:44being asked to assist in the development process.
